I recently completed the requirements to my TESOL diploma here. It was a great learning experience for me. I would always look forward to my evening classes despite having to commute from Joo Koon to Amoy Street minimally twice a week. Kennedy, our instructor is very knowledgeable and engaging. Thank you Yu Chin and her other administrative superstars. I've met some of the nicest people here at BEC. I will miss the interaction with my course mates the most. While the idea of Practicum is intimidating, it is an important and valuable capstone experience. It has been a very fulfilling journey these few months.

The TESOL diploma is available at a few private institutions in Singapore, however I am glad I chose to embark on it with British Education Centre. The lessons, although packed with information, are made engaging by the well-experienced trainers. Kudos to Kennedy for always managing to keep us productively occupied with hands-on activities during lessons. Similar to any tertiary course, be prepared to do some mini assignments before attending the lessons at times, which may seem daunting at first but were in fact effective in ensuring the delivery of the lessons went nothing but smooth. Truly appreciate Yu Chin for her approachable nature and the numerous instances where she has extended a helping hand in administrative matters and otherwise. I definitely recommend BEC to anyone interested in taking up their Diploma in TESOL!

I have never loved attending classes as much as I did here at BEC! The school doesn't operate on a money oriented system having students to pay for important reference books. The course fee is also very attractive here compared to other schools offering the same Diploma.
As a consumer, this school provides a 6 star service, patiently answering any questions I had. As a student, I really can't find a thing to nitpick on. The teacher, Mr Kennedy, is a very patient and jovial person tolerating with all my nonsense during lesson. He is also a very resourceful teacher, providing students with all the important and "good reads/watch" articles and videos. The school's admin staff Yu Chin is a very friendly lady. She treats all the students there as friends and not customers and always reminding students of their exam schedules without fail.
I have never in my life looked forward to attending class as much as I did here! So if you are considering taking a Diploma in TESOL, BEC is 200% choice for you! Stop googling for other choices because I am very sure you will enjoy your time here!

I highly recommend BEC!! Enrolling here was one of the best decisions I've made. Initially I was concerned how I would make it through 3+ hour night classes and a long commute, but this truly interactive and engaging BEC TESOL program taught by an excellent and kind instructor, Kennedy, made me look forward to attending each class. He was a great role model of a confident yet compassionate ESL teacher! Also the personable office manager, Yuchin, was so helpful in answering my many questions about the course as well as in setting up a customized schedule. I also appreciated the friendly classmates who were all so willing to share their notes and know-hows. So thank you very much, BEC, for helping me to achieve my goals in such a pleasurable manner.
P.S. Though the physical classroom size may be small, the closeness the classmates built with each other and with Kennedy and Yuchin (not to mention the courtesy snacks and drinks ;)) all made up for it in big ways!)
I thoroughly enjoyed the course conducted by Kennedy, the Head Trainer. He was engaging and experienced, to say the least. His lessons were lively and practical, giving us ample opportunities to express and explore ourselves as we play different roles of the student and teacher in the ESL classroom. Special mention goes to Yu Chin, the center director for her valuable assistance throughout my course at BEC. I am glad to say that my Distinction would not have been possible without Kennedy's help and Yu Chin's support in one way or another.

This course has a well balanced curriculum as it teaches not only the theoretical aspects of the English language, there are many opportunities to try out lesson activities where we can hone our teaching skills while learning from our classmates! It was an enriching and eye-opening learning experience with British Education Centre. Administrative staff and instructor are always there to help if you have any problems. Upon completing the course, I now have a much better idea on how to create lesson plans and conduct a proper lesson to different audience. I am also grateful for the interaction with classmates from different countries and the sharing during lessons, which I have benefited much. It has been a fruitful two months learning journey through the diploma course in TESOL at BEC. Though I do commit efforts to achieve good results, completing the diploma course is not possible without the good administrative support and dedication in teaching from the BEC staff. I took the Diploma in TESOL at BEC and I have to say that it has been a memorable journey for me. Before signing up, I was researching many other schools that were offering the same course, but after a sit-in session at BEC, I immediately signed up for the course. The curriculum is comprehensive and lessons are interactive and engaging. There are countless opportunities during the lessons for the learners to put to practice and apply what is taught. This hands-on approach was a huge draw for me.
Kennedy is a great instructor who is very knowledgeable and encouraging. He never fails to keep us on our toes which I must say prepares us well for the real classroom environment. For that I am very appreciative.
Yu Chin has been absolutely supportive during my learning journey providing guidance and advice where necessary. Her care and concern for the learners goes beyond her call of duty. I am ever grateful for that.
I truly enjoyed my experience in BEC! There are 4 modules, and for each module, I had the pleasure of having different classmates to be with. I took up TESOL diploma course in BEC and it s one of the best thing I ve done academically. The lessons are thorough, clear, concise and achieves the goal of a TESOL course. The methods and tactics taught to be an excellent teacher were exactly something that is highly sought after in international schools and environments. Absolutely enjoyed my time at BEC- it's a wonderful mix of hands-on, practical training and reflective teaching practices that are always centered on the needs of the student. I would recommend their courses to anyone's who's looking to either transition into teaching or develop their skills as a teacher.
I spent two months in BEC attending classes for the TESOL module and thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
The teacher, Kennedy, is a highly experienced and excellent teacher who consistently draws on that experience to highlight each student's areas of improvement. He is also extremely knowledgeable, both as a teacher and a trainer of teachers, and is always willing to share that knowledge.
Classes can be very small, as little as 4-5 people, but this is worked into an advantage as students are given more opportunities to speak up as well as practice. Students of the TESOL module are a diverse bunch, ranging from young adults to working adults and retirees, and they come from many different working backgrounds. In my time there, I met a housewife, an ex-military enigneer and a television producer - all in the same class! Of these, each came to the class looking for different applications of their diploma and the lessons they learnt along with it, which goes to show how versatile and useful learning how to teach can be.
The staff at BEC - particularly Yu Chin, the office administrator - are efficient yet friendly. When I was looking to enrol at the school, she talked to me at length to understand my rather complicated schedule, then helped me to plan out the days and timings to go for lessons and exams. One particular detail that really stood out is that she makes sure to manually send reminder texts to everyone about important exams and other dates (which, being forgetful, I am very much thankful for!)
Overall, BEC was a wholly enjoyable learning experience, and a great place to meet like-minded people looking to become teachers or just to learn how to teach in general. Highly recommended!

It was a fascinating experience to go through the Advanced TESOL Diploma at the British Education Centre. A nice place located in the heart of Singapore. Joining the BEC was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. A huge thank you to Alvina, Kennedy and Yu chin for being so helpful, kind and encouraging towards us all. If you're thinking of getting a diploma in TESOL, I would highly recommend doing it at the BEC.
I came across the TEFL/TESOL certification and decided to pursue it the 'proper' way of attending sit-in classes rather than doing it online. BEC offered both full-time and part-time (evening classes) courses, which suit your needs.
It was a huge challenge for me personally as teaching was not my forte, and I have no prior teaching experience. The classes conducted with very interactive, and gives us, teachers-to-be, ample opportunities to express ourselves and hone our teaching skills along the way.
There was also a free sit-in session where you can join in one of the lessons to get a feel of what it is like.
Administration of examinations, fees, etc were clear and straight-forward, and I completed the whole course, including both the theory and practical examinations, within half-a-year.
I have definitely learnt more than how to teach English effectively to foreign students, and have grown a lot as a person too.

I have completed TESSOL last August and didn't thought of taking up another course so soon but i am glad that i took up advanced certificate in IELTS last Dec 17. Taking lesson under Kennedy will never be bored, a friend once quoted to me and I fully agreed. He is so engaging and every lesson starting from pre-activity till the end of the lesson is like peeling layers of onion, training us a step at a time slowly revealing the core topic. I am blessed to have found such a great teacher.

I completed the intensive TESOL course with the BEC centre and found that this was exactly what I was looking for and more. The classes are very interactive to constantly prepare you for teaching in the real life. Prior to this I was working in a different industry but the trainers (Alvina and Kennedy) built my confidence to be able to comfortably work in the education sector. With great resources at hand and good class sizes I am happy that I went with the British Education Centre, I have met some amazing friends and have learnt more than I thought was possible in a month!!

Right off the bat, I would like to say I really enjoyed my experience as a student with British Education Centre. I started my TESOL Diploma course in March this year. I went for classes twice a week, 3 hours each evening, at their institution in Amoy Street. Going for classes after a long day of work can be challenging mentally and physically, but the structure of the classes led by Kennedy and David made Time fly by really quickly! The classes were actively engaging; we had to create our own warm-up games, work in pairs, play group games, present our thinking and there were a lot of interactions between the teachers and the students. Class days became my favourite days of the week! Then, Circuit Breaker due to Co-Vid19, took place. I thought that classes would be halted until further notice, but BEC was quick to devise ways to ensure continuity of learning for us students. We had lessons over Zoom- I was learning just as well and just as much! Dr. Alan is a really knowledgeable instructor and is generous in sharing his expertise. I am always in awe of the stuff he knows. A special shout out to Yu Chin, who has been incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my TESOL journey in British Education Centre. I can definitely say that this is one of the highlights of 2020 for me!
Every lesson was fun and packed full of activities. The teachers Kennedy and Alvina are very knowledgeable in teaching and are very supportive. The lessons are nicely paced and the resources available are so helpful for the exams and practicum. British Education Centre is a school with a dedicated staff who does their best to guide the next generation after generation of Teachers-to-be. Mr Kennedy who is the head trainer is a teacher that shows what a teacher is all about, that no matter what age, race or country , a teacher is kind, patient and helpful and loving. These are a trait that a teacher possess and that would be used to teach and guide future students well. Me Kennedy has all these traits. Lessons taught by him are fun, enjoyable and I learn a lot from the lessons taught by him. He does his upmost best that all students will pass well for their exams and practicum. The staff is also very helpful, patient and will try their best to help students no matter what troubles. I am so lucky to have met such a good teacher and staff and I am forever grateful to everyone in BEC for all their help and guidance and because of that I am a teacher today! The trainers and staff at BEC are superb! They are not just knowledgeable and experienced, they are also willing to share their own experiences and tips to trianee teachers and patient to answer any questions pose to them. When I first came to BEC for the Diploma in TESOL, I was working shifts and was so worried that I couldn't accommodate my timings to classes. Dr. Alan was such a nice man and understood my situation and classes turned out to be a breeze. I managed to attend all modules due to the flexibility of the school and completed my Diploma.
A year and a half later, I came back to BEC and took the Certification for IELTS. Kennedy was a cool teacher, always sharing his experiences guiding us throughout the course.
Yu Chin and her admin staffs are wonderful. They are prompt, helpful and approachable. They simply make you feel warm and welcome.
Although I have completed my courses with them, I still turn to them for resources and help in certain areas and never once did they make me feel that I was troubling them. BEC is a place I know that I can always go to.
It is a wonderful place to achieve the tesol diploma. The teachers and school staff are very professional and they create a nice atmosphere, so it strengthens the bonding between the students when they need to overcome the hardship. It is truly rewarding, because the students will be able to acquire the teaching skills after taking the course.
When I decided to take up the Tesol course, I had a very short time frame left in Singapore before my departure for mission work in Timor. I need to know if the 2.5 months I have left would be sufficient, so I decided to make an enquiry via email to the various schools offering Tesol.
I was surprised by the respond from BEC as it came almost immediately and with a detail description of how it can be done. I quickly make a call to Yu Chin of BEC and was sold immediately. Without missing a beat I signed up immediately. Yu Chin even guided me on how to make the $500 Skillsfuture Credit claim.
The Tesol course conducted by Mr Kennedy was not something I had expected. I was looking for a structured teaching lesson but instead I was constantly challenged by the activity based teaching. Students were put into instantaneous learning and applying the techniques in teaching English. I must say I wasn t prepared for the radical change in teaching method and the need for structure keep surfacing. The first lesson of 3 hours flew by without my realising it and at the end of it I realised that I have absorbed more than I ever expected. This same feeling of unease which is different from all my previous learning experience prevailed until I my last lesson. And I must say I enjoyed every class and look forward to attending every lesson each time. The resultant effect of this teaching methodology proved itself in my exam. I did well in both the written exam and practicum.
Another laudable effort by BEC was that during my last module, we have only 2 students in the evening class and BEC s terms is that they would cancel the class and wait for sufficient student to commence. But because BEC had indicated earlier that it was possible for me to complete the course in this tight time frame, Yu Chin and Mr Kennedy honoured their commitment. This is something that I appreciate most deeply, they were not obligated but decided to do so for my welfare. Yu Chin even took great pains to scheduled my mock-Practicum, Practicum and written exam all within the final week of my last module. The lessons conducted at the BEC are interesting and easy to follow. The trainers (Alvina and Kennedy) are experienced and very helpful. Also, the centre is in a convenient place, only a 5-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT, and it's very clean too. My experience here at BEC was meaningful and fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Just completed my TESOL course at BEC. Teachers are knowledgeable and professional. Handbooks provided are relevant and sufficient to meet course needs. Admin staff are ever so friendly, helpful and provide timely support. Students are from different industries and across a broad age range this makes the learning experience so much more enjoyable, refreshing and practical.
The first hand experience I received from BEC is their quick and solution based responsiveness. The lecturers were very forth coming and adapted to various methods of teaching, to keep the learners engaged. During the circuit breaker, the lessons were conducted via online, yet the lesson quality was not compromised, in fact we learnt more value adding teaching methods. BEC has very good pool of administration staff who are readily available to help. Five star rating is definitely justified.

The school is centrally located in one of the charming shop houses on Amoy Street. It is surrounded by few National Monument and wonderful eateries. For those who commute by public transport, it is a very comfortable walk from either of the 2 nearby MRT stations.
Learned so much in the 8 weeks ( 2 weeks per module) and made some new friends. Towards the end of the last module, most, if not all, left BEC with a tinge of reluctance and sadness but certainly not without a huge sense of accomplishment!

BEC provided excellent support for completing my TESOL course and, in the one month that I was there, I learnt an enormous amount about teaching English, and also about my abilities and competence. ONE star because the instructors were not bad but classes are far too big to have proper learning and the centre is too profit oriented. They accept any students who will pay and some students hinder class progress with their bad English(how to be teacher) and weird personalities. The admin manager is also not open to feedback, very defensive. More than half the class think it is too big and not conducive but admin ignore. I'm quite disappointed and think they over sold their programme when trying to convince you to sign up.
Learning at The British Education Centre was so much fun. It was a lot of hands on experiences but every day was fun, interesting and engaging. The teachers were really lovely and the staff were amazing. I have made so many new friends and I'm so grateful to have chosen to do my TESOL cert here.

It has an extremely hands-on, knowledgeable, amicable and more-than-excellent Teacher/Trainer in the person of Mr. Kennedy Albar. It also has a superbly approachable and wise management team headed by Yu Chin, who is equally at par with Mr. Kennedy in sensitivity to the TESOL students needs. The classroom and every single lesson conducted by Mr. Kennedy, arm the TESOL Teacher wannabes for the great battle ahead. If given another shot at attending TESOL classes, I wouldn t hesitate to take it over and over again; for, every session is worth cherishing for life and gives the TESOL aspirant the confidence that future TESOL obstacles are fathomable, hook line and sinker!!!

The teaching was definitely professional and applicable to what I need when I am teaching overseas, for example teaching using songs and games in an ESL setting. The lecturer was very approachable and would always take our questions. For those who does not have prior teaching experience, I feel this course would give you the platform and space to build your confidence in this area.
The administration support was good and communication was always clear and on time.
On a more personal note....
I think what I like best about this school is that the lessons are very engaging and its not just about lectures but we as student-teachers are always given the platform to express ourselves through activities and games.
I think this course both challenges me in my learning as well as provides enough guidance for me to proceed. And this school definitely have that personal touch....
I've finally completed the TESOL course with BEC. It has been an amazing experience. I learned more than what i've expected to learn. I came in just to learn how to teach but came out learning more about myself too. So, it was also an experience of self-discovery for me.

Completed my course at BEC and it was great! There were hands-on activities and practices throughout the course and my instructor, Kennedy, would offer suggestions on ways to improve on it. Kennedy is very knowledgeable and has helped me understand how better to engage students in the lesson. It was a very interactive class. Very exciting to have learned from so many peers and from my trainers. It was not a boring theoretical class but a mix of theory of practical in a very communicative approach. It was not just engaging but we were given fresh ideas to be engaging too. I enjoyed myself during my study here. Despite the presence of course notes provided, I have to read far and wide, view videos in my spare time, in order to attempt the question papers, and answer assignment questions posed by the instructors. BEC provided me with a solid foundation for teaching English to speakers of other languages. I have met great friends, good teachers and amazing administrative staff. I enjoyed the active classes, the cooperation among classmates and the support from the staff. Along I got to interact with amazing individuals who think and do things differently. I believe that people do not cross path by accident, I wouldn't enjoy my course as much without everyone of them.
Lessons were fun and engaging but the tasks assigned could be challenging because they were meant to help us to get out of our comfort zone. The most difficult part for me was to overcome my own insecurity, but with the support and guidance from people around make the process much easier.

I learnt so much from this course and in addition, it has never been a boring lesson. The four months had been so enjoyable as Kennedy kept the class engaging. The many little group work or role-plays that we had were all a built-up towards building self-confidence in delivering a lesson in front of a class. That is certainly of paramount importance for a teacher. I have never seen such excellent administrative support from Yu Chin and staff, who had never fail to render whatever administrative that a student needs in the school. BEC is highly recommended if you are considering a course here.
