A hotel that somehow still exists in her past shadow. Though the rooms are nice but the services is complete zero. The food is nasty and extremely expensive. We stayed here for about a week and I left $60 tip for the lady who cleaned our room. When we got back to U.S. the hotel charge me additional $120 for gratuity. I disputed the charges with my credit card company and have it revoked. How in the name of God you gonna force me or anyone to pay whatever price they say you have to pay for tip? Americans be careful and be well informed before you visit Bahamas cos I hear other hotels down there are into similar racket. If you ever need to visit the Bahamas, go on a cruise.

I loved the gardens, the late night swims in the pool gazing at the stars. The morning gym classes are a great way to start the day, I had an energizing zumba class with a wonderful instructor. Overall a wonderful experience.

Despite what Google says, the breakfast here is NOT free! Their continental breakfast alone was over $20. Hot breakfast was over $30. The breakfast was decent, but not worth the price.

The room was ok, though the bed could be updated. The beach was nice and usually clean. The pool/beach staff were friendly. Having a starbucks onsite was a plus.

As for the bad... The room we selected was not ready, so they switched our room. Then that room wasn't ready at the expected check-in time, so we had to wait. Then they didn't tell us it was ready until we went to ask about it. At least they gave us a breakfast voucher for our troubles. If that was it, I would've stayed here again. But upon check-out, I was slapped with an extra $130 beyond my pre-paid amount (I booked directly through Hilton) for "mandatory charges" incurred by having two people in the room instead of one (my wife and me). This was not disclosed until we checked out. I've stayed at many Hiltons, and many hotels in general, and I've NEVER been charged extra for having a second guest in the room (except occasionally at some lower-end hotels when breakfast is included). To add insult to injury, the extra mandatory charges are for things we don't even use (e.g. we forgo room cleaning to save water/etc. yet we still get charged double for room cleaning...). I'm used to those baloney charges and generally just factor it in to the total price of the room, but man it just irked me when they hit me with it at the last minute. This was definitely a first.

The hotel is ideally located and large in size, with a great private beach! However, due to the age, the decoration and facilities are quite old, the overall cost performance is very low, and the occupancy experience is average.

Very run down, especially for a Hilton. For example, only one of three elevators were operational. Rooms in desperate need of renovation. Staff and concierge desk lack any helpful knowledge of the area. Very disappointed and would never stay there again.

I just checked in today and the property is very upscale and prestigious. An exclusive experience for the BC Hilton guest. I love it! As a Hilton Honors member, I am impressed. I will definitely be back!

Got a day pass and spent the most relaxing day there. The beach is a little small and you have to get there early to get a lounge chair. But it is sooo worth it. Moved to pool area in the latter part of the morning and stayed there until we headed home. The most comfortable lounging area by a pool in the world. Service can not be beat. Food selection is modest, but tasty. Cost of day pass includes a food voucher of $40 per adult and $20 child. Best bargain on the island. A definite must for any traveler.

Nice atmosphere! I felt parking for guests at an event could have been free for under 4 hours. I had Christmas luncheon here and the food was actually pretty good. No complaints at all, from salads to turkey and ham. The punch was yummy as well! Would def opt to have a staff luncheon here again!

I'm Argentine, and I did not feel well served. Hotel very luxurious, but in not hospitable. They DO NOT SPEAK SPANISH, nor do they want to be understood. They charge everything separately. At 5 a.m. closes everything in the Bahamas. ARGENTINES, do not go to the Bahamas, they treat us badly. Especially in that hotel, they do not give us anything. Very complicated also eat, very spicy food

Nice property in walking distance to downtown. More of a business hotel than a vacation hotel. Rooms are in good shape and are nicely appointed. Pool and beach are small but nice. Staff is fantastic, very friendly and helpful.

This hotel has ages of history behind it, even before it's current name. This is the de facto hotel for Downtown Nassau, with lots of places to shop and it's just a street or few away from the buses which take you all over the island. Hotel amenities are also great, rooms are satisfactory, but the food and beach are great.

Having been to this property previously my expectations were set high....once again Hilton stood by their brand. What a great experience Hilton Properties offers and delivers....that's why I vacation only with Hilton. Rooms are great....beaches are clean...staff very accommodating. Thumbs up Hilton!

Stayed here from 11/5/16 to 11/11/16. Very nice hotel which needs a bit of refurbishing; really friendly staff at reception, housekeeping and reastaurant. Nice private beach even if you should not go into the water because harbour is near. Breakfast is O.K.; dining in the Aqua ist delicious.
Nearly everything of interest is in walking distance.
Prices are quite high but so they are everywhere in Nassau.

By the way, be cautious with carribean seafood (google for Ciguatera); this is really nasty gives you great nausea and stops all your activities besides vomiting for several days.

I bought a day pass to use the beach. I didn't stay at this hotel. This review is just about the service at the beach and the beach itself. Nice private beach. Place is quite in the mornings. Food was great. You can rent Cabanas to avoid getting sunburn but they also have some shades. You can do snorkeling, (I saw a guy chased a lobster out of the water while was snorkeling) a cayak is available to rent I believe. Service was excellent.

Had a fantastic time showing my dog at the Bahamas Kennel Club Dog Show. British Colonial Hilton just amazed me with the courtesy towards my dog staying in the hotel. Fantastic people working for them. Always out of their way helpful.

We paid to do the beach/pool day pass here when our cruise ship (Oasis of the Seas) was docked in Nassau last week. Not only is the property BEAUTIFUL but the staff was top notch. It was easy to get beach chairs right up near the water. Leonardo was the BEST server. He was quick getting us drinks and enjoyable to chat with. My family utilized the food/bev portion of the package and were very pleased with everything. I will dream about that lobster - shout out to the grill master! Thanks so much for having us. We will return on our next trip to Nassau.

British Colonial Hilton Nassau is located at #1 Ba...

British Colonial Hilton Nassau is located at #1 Bay Street and as such it serves as the gateway or genesis of the downtown shopping area of Bay Street. The hotel has a rich history and was actually built on the site of former Fort Nassau. Fort Nassau was made popular during the Age of Piracy where Nassau's first Royal Governor General Woodes Rodgers used to hang pirates from the fort in the name of the British Monarchy. Today a statue of Woodes Rodgers stands in front of the hotel.
This hotel boasts of beautiful architecture and is the perfect spot for business travelers. A beautiful beach is nestled at the rear of the hotel with views of Nassau Harbor. As mentioned before the hotel is in the downtown area in the immediate proximity of shopping, points of interest and public transportation. I would recommend this hotel for those travelers looking for convenience and comfort.

Nice resort on the beach. We arrived on a cruise ship and spent the day here at the beach. Easy walk from the port. Bar service was fine with tasty drinks. Food menu needs some work. No small dishes. Can't even order just a side dish. Staff was friendly.

Great hotel, great staff and service. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The atmosphere outside is nice as well, small beach but pretty private with nice views. Grounds are well kept, only thing that can get annoying is all the construction going on next door.

Very beautiful service with large rooms. The rooms seem abit tired though it appears some of the furniture looks new. I found the wifi spotty but does work. The staff in the hotel and in the restaurant is superb. Very friendly and welcoming.

Stayed at this hotel while in the Bahamas. Located downtown. Easy access to everything: Shops, Fish Fry, Straw market. Wouldn t recommend this hotel if you are looking to have fun. It s very quiet. There is extensive construction happening on both sides of the hotel. They won t let you know about it nor extend a discounted room rate.

Great place to hold functions, the refreshments are wonderful. The interior decor,is very exquisite. I love the idea of the hammocks out in the back near the beach and the fact that it has a very historical background.
It is built upon the grounds, where Fort Nassau was(our very first fort). And also there is a completely picture worthy statue of Woodes Rogers in front, great for a family picture

Very nice hotel with a beautiful private beach. Location is downtown Nassau so close to all the stores and restaurants. Due the restrictions almost all the shops are closed and many restaurants open only for few hours. After 10pm everything is close and nobody can stay outside. The hotel had only one restaurant open, the Starbucks inside the hotel is closed.

Absolutely my favorite hotel in Nassau! The service is great, and the atmosphere here is nice. The best thing is convenience. McDonald's is right at the gate, and the great Chinese restaurant Summer Palace is next to the hotel. Paradise island is right across the hotel, we can even see the view from the hotel. It's such a good choice for us to live here this time. I will definitely choose this hotel if I come to Nassau next time!

We purchased a day pass independently from the cruise ship we were on. It was a 10 minute walk from the ship. The water in the pool was warm and we enjoyed going from the beach the pool. There were chairs both at the pool and beach. There were also life vests and toys for the children. Towels were included. The bathroom was clean. The food was slow, overpriced, and not that good. But we were not there for the food. It was a wonderful beach day. We paid $79 for the day and $40 of that came back as a food a beverage credit. A sandwich is about $20 and a non alcholic diaquari was $10. Children 5 and under were free when we went. Children over 5 are $39. We booked online at resort for a day.

Great location, best beach area we saw anywhere in Nassau, and wonderful staff. The only thing that didn't make 5 stars is the constant playing of CNN in the lounge. I go on vacation to get away from ignorant people arguing about partisan politics, I don't need it forced on me. Neither CNN or Fox News have been appropriate to play in a public setting for a few years now, Hilton.
