People were looking at me as if I was out of place (I'm Spanish). It was disappointing and made me feel as if I did not belong. I'll return for the plants but I was uncomfortable with the atmosphere.

We hired Bristol for a complete upgrade to our front yard around the perimeter of our house. We wanted stylish and low maintenance. We worked with Jerry who truly listened to our thoughts and helped us come up with the perfect design. The crew was professional and courteous. We ve worked with a lot of landscaping companies over the years. We will only work with one now Bristol. They are excellent.

I really tried liking this place, however the return policy is just ridiculous, they practically missing it all together! I really liked the selection of roses that the place provided, however each time I buy a rose from them ( I have purchased 2 ) it comes with a disease which spreads to all of my healthy roses in the garden, which if you are a rose lover you know is difficult to treat! I would recommend sticking to Home Depot and Lowe s, healthier plants and unbeatable return policy!

I would give 4.5 if I could. Only reason I wouldn't go to 5 is the pricing of some houseplants is very high for the area, and some of the perennials could use some TLC. This could definitely be due to the distributor.

Bristol's has a decent selection, but they can be way over-priced. In a pinch, I bought a couple of small pots of marigolds for $7.99 each. I thought that was a bit high, and sure enough, I found the same exact kind of marigolds for $3.99 per pot at a competitor's store. Kind of outrageous, really.

Staff very knowledgable and helpful! Great selection of perennials, ornamental, and flowering trees. Even have live animals onsite for the kids to see (turtles, fish, parrots, bunnies). Great experience!

Bristol's is one of the very few privately owned garden centers left in the area. Selection is fantastic, everything you can imagine; trees, shrubs, climbers, perennials, and all your favorite annuals. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Also a pet-friendly place, our Basset Hound Bobbie always makes new friends on our visits.
I have purchased everything from soup to nuts here, quality unsurpassed. Beautiful outdoor decor available. Everything you could imagine for novice to experienced gardening.

I love Bristol's in the summer for perennials, but this was my first holiday season visit. I had no idea they had such options. You can select greens to make your own wreath or garland, or buy premade at fair prices.

They have one of the largest plant selections in Rochester. We worked with Chuck to design a garden bed in our backyard and he was extremely helpful. He walked us around the entire store, giving us plant recommendations and discussing the maintenance requirements for each one.

Its a mixed story. The selection is huge, but plant root growth in the pot is not as full as other garden stores. Some staff members are real horticultural experts. Several trees I purchased over several years were diseased.

Didn't stand by the pricing which they had said they would sell to me something . They even went as far as to say that they had sold it . My husband and I found the item and they said that they would call the manager over , he never showed and the item was not sold to us . Horrible company bad customer service .

I go to Bristol s Solely for their indoor plants they keep in their greenhouse. They usually have a diverse selection and the prices are on par for the other nursery s in the area. They have a great selection of succulents and cacti. I love going and adding to my plant collection!

Bristol's often has a very good selection of hostas. The reason that they didn't get 5 stars is that we received some resistence from them when we returned an unhealthy hosta. It turned out that the hosta variety was weak. It wasn't Bristol's fault or ours, but they should have been nicer about the return.

Amazing selection of healthy, hardy plants.
Employees operating the registers are friendly, though many others seem disgruntled, and annoyed at queries from customers.

I ve tried to like this place and have given them my business for the past two years. No more. This year I spent a lot of money here. A few days ago I went to return a small pot because it didn t fit a plant that I bought, also from there. They wouldn t take my $10 return even with a receipt, because it as used . I mean, come on. Home Depot will let you return a plant that you pulled from the ground one year later. I expect a lot more service from a mom and pop store, especially since I am a regular customer. Taking my business to Wayside and Oriental Gardens from now on.

(Previous post)
I'm updating a previous review that I posted. After posting a 3.5 star review of this place, I was approached by one of their team members and she asked how they could improve my experience there. It was nice of them to ask--it shows that they want to improve their business. The nursery has a good selection of plants, especially native species. The prices are on par with Wayside and Oriental Gardens. My earlier complaint which I need to clarify is not that the customer service is bad, there just isn't enough people on the floor. There's usually 2 people there who are consistently helpful and they're knowledgeable about plants, but everyone else don't really seem to be engaged with customers. Seems that they hire a lot of high school or college students for the season but it would benefit them to have more people around that know about plants and are willing to help customers. I'd like to give them 5 stars one day because I think they could be a very good nursery.

Ordered a cord of firewood from them and it was terrible. Wood was dry but there was about 5 large wheelbarrows-worth of dirt and garbage leftover after had stacked the wood. I was left to clean up a huge mess on my property left by Bristol's. I realize there will be some woodchips and dirt afterwards but I felt this was unacceptable for just a single cord of wood. Called Bristol's and they admitted to the issue but didn't care enough to make it right.

Will not return as a customer.

Very high-end products worth every dollar. I went looking for roses I was able to find some expensive ones that are very restricted availability in the United States and was able to find them at Bristol Garden. If you can't find it they will order it for you. A horticulturist Dream Center.

I planned a DYI replacement of all my overgrown shrubs, and visited Bristol's in late April. I purchased two matching holly shrubs, ordered many other shrubs, and had my purchases held for delivery until everything came in. What followed was an unending series of delay, broken promises to call, and outright incompetence. When I finally gave up on the complete order and had my plants delivered, one of the matched holly's was missing, and in its place was a scrawny substitute. When I returned with it and complained, the nursery manager Joshua offered to exchange it, but all the other stock was similarly scrawny, with all of their good stock sold out. He just threw out a shallow "sorry", and I was refunded my money. I have searched everywhere for a similar sized holly, including online, but the situation is the same: all the mature stock is sold out. I suspect that if I had hired Bristol's to do the project for me, things would be different. In any case, my advice is to avoid ordering shrubs through Bristol's and to be prepared to take home any purchases you might make. One bright note: when the manager of another department at Bristol's heard my story, she profoundly apologized and gave me a $50 gift certificate. My cautionary tale is about the shrub/nursery department.

Great selection for plants and flowers, but VERY skimpy when you order yards to be delivered to your house, just got charged for 3 yards of topsoil for $150, looks like no more than 2 (and honestly we know). Come on, we've been shopping with you for 20 years!!!!

This place is huge! Their selection of succulents, trees, shrubs, flowers, veggies, etc is amazing. I went there for the first time and wandered around in awe for 20 minutes before I could gather myself to buy some things.

Outstanding landscape center. Several acres of shrubs, plants and trees. Even as the winter sets in. Good selection of fertilizers and plant care items. Staff I spoke with took time to answer questions and make recommendations. Got great apples at cheap prices. Checkout lady was not in a good mood when I was there.

I have purchased several things from them over the years but my last purchase was regretfully one of the worst . I was given a price by the manager of the nursery for trees I planned to purchase , unable to purchase them that day because I had no way to transport them . I returned 10 days later to pick up the same trees which had been put to the side for me and I was told that the price had now doubled due to them now being in season . The owner was smug and inconsiderate I will not be back . So if you enjoy buying your gradine stock like they are used cars than feel free to go there . ME I WILL ONLY WORK AND PAYRON PLACES WITH INTEGRITY .
