Beautiful old theatre, have been to see a few things here, mostly in the studio which gives a great intimate feel to the show. Facilities are reasonable though old, drinks prices are not outrageous.

When having dinner before our show the waitress had a bad attitude and our bill was wrong three times and we had to prove we did not drink two bottles of wine. The leg room when sitting in the theatre is very restricted. I am five foot six and struggled let alone anyone taller. Made it really uncomfortable and took me away from the show. Really liked the projection on the original Wal of the building.

I love this theatre. I have only been here once and I cannot wait to go there again. The architecture is incredible. The theatre itself is gorgeous. Slight problem with pillars being in the way but unavoidable given the age of the theatre. Parking was good for me because they have disabled parking outside but there is also some on street parking for any cars.

Popped in on a quiet, calm and crisp winter Monday. Was greeted by a lovely gent (Ben?) on the front desk and offered a selection of cocktails from the bar. We then decided to stay for some food once the kitchen opened at 5pm and we were not disappointed! Our servers Aidan and Tigan were very helpful in our culinary decision and the chefs cooked the food to an exquisite perfection! 10/10 would recommend. Never coming back again though.

My standing ovation to the actors and backstage staff that performed a Christmas Carol. A unique take in a unique, atmospheric Theatre. The integration of sign language and consideration of hearing impaired people amongst the audience was particularly well executed amongst many, many aspects of the show. Well done.

What an amazing place! We visited on Bristol open doors day and so glad we did. The space behind the stage is huge and hides the scenery production. They have a rolling screen so the artists don't have to go up and down ladders, only one of four in the country. There's also a sound effects exhibition and the new more intimate Studio theatre. There's also a decent reasonably priced restaurant. A wonderful historical, fascinating building.

I have just watched Richard III. Excellent performances by all cast. Tom Mathersdale was very funny, moving but also sad and terryfying as Richard. Loved the use of the mirrors and other special effects. Theatre itself is very beautiful and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Overated. It may be an old and well loved theatre but should only be judged on present performance. Actual theatre was refurbished but retains some very poor sight lines. New foyer is loud and confused despite winning architecture awards. Productions vary. I go in hope but am often underwhelmed.

One of the oldest surviving theatres in Britain. Well worth a visit. Major restoration and upgrade of facilities completed. Once one of Britain's most prestigious theatres and it wi we hope Rise back to these dizzy heights

This place is very popular since it reopened. There are lots of great places to go for a drink on Kings Street but this place is definitely one of the coolest. I have been told that they do a great Sunday lunch too.

There are few theatres like this one: a national gem, with a world class pedigree. The auditorium feels intimate and is wrapped round 3 sides, old 'music hall' style, giving great sightlines from all seats. The foyer bar/ restaurant is a cleverly designed modern space that tells the story of the theatre's history and renovation, including a wonderful pre-performance projected lightshow. The restaurant is open to the public so I recommend you book a pre-show meal when you buy your tickets. If you've not been before, there's an annual Christmas season production that isn't a pantomime, which is always imaginative and entertaining, designed to appeal to all ages: a lovely way to experience the BOV!
