The new refurbished restaurant looks and feels much nicer than before. The food tastes good, but it needs to arrive faster. Even in an almost empty restaurant our food took about 40 minutes to arrive. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants some authentic Indian cuisine cooked to perfection.
Amazing as always! Wonderful food, ambience and outstanding service. Best restaurant by far in Southall.
Came here for my dad's birthday. The starters took 40 minutes to come out and were not warm and were disgusting. We informed the staff about our concerns and the manager decided instead of rectifying the situation, he began to shout at us. We had a horrible experience and left with a completely ruined birthday. I have seen others have experienced a very similar response from staff as we did. Overrated restaurant with oily mediocre food & appalling service - Save your money and go to a better place who will appreciate you
Can't cook chicken what so ever. The amount of salt is soo overpowering you can not taste any flavour. Lamb chops were good about the only thing right in the place. Living on the reputation of an established name but the quality of food is far from Brilliant!
Exceptional service, nice food, not much chilli heat but available on request.
Food was as expected...decent with no complaints.
Service was mediocre...again, no complaints.
Hygiene was very good.
Hot towels post dinner was unexpected.
Very nice ambience in the restaurant.
Let down was no poppadoms considering there was 6 of us.
Would definitely come again, but restaurant needs to improve after their 15 mins of fame.
About three weeks ago, I have visited this restaurant with my family and three people had bad stomach problems the following day! We also had to wait a long time at the bar before we were seated although we had made a reservation nobody came to check up on us until we had to remind them that we were waiting a long time. When we were finally seated I noticed their dinning tables are made out of a tacky material and very slippery. The staff was running like headless chickens, the service was incredibly out of synch. The food was hopeless, only their house special black dal was nice. Quorn Keema was out of date, tasteless and bland, Saag was extremely dry and not flavoursome which also gave us bad stomach problems the next morning. Lastly, Tarka Dal came without any tarka which was the key to this dish!!! The presentation of the food was appalling with no garnish. We were extremely disappointed with our visit to this restaurant although we did try to raise our disappointments across, but the staff was not attentive nor able to address our concerns in a timely manner. I prefer Madhu s restaurant around the corner a 100 times more. Will not be returning
Food here has no flavour and I am sure that the chefs cut corners to make savings. Chicken was very bad. There are other places with much better food. Food absolutely was not fresh.
The best Indian restaurant in the area and beyond , every thing tasted yummy , I ve had the best Lamb curry so far in London !
It was brilliant as the name would suggest and it was really nice to have Dipna come around and ask how it was and also was front of house. It's not often you see a celebrity chef do that!
This experice was absulute shite, brilliant did not live up 2 its brilliant reputation. The lamb curry was tastless, and there was a mocktail tht was ment 2 be guava and mango but 2 my dissapointment they just blended 2 rubicon flavours and More
I have family from overseas often come to the local area and all they want to do for food when ordering or eating out is go to Brilliant. The Nyama lamb ribs are unique and maybe the tastiest desi meat treat you will ever have. Every dish has a unique flavour, the staff are always attentive and friendly and it all stems from the lovely family that have been running the business for decades. There is a reason Prince Charles has eaten here twice! Best Induan restaurant on earth.
I love how fresh is the food! I've eaten Indian food before, but this is by far the best! We happen to visit UK (we're from The Netherlands) and decided to taste India food as they say it's the one in UK is best after India, of course. So we google it and went to Brilliant...and it was Brilliant!!! We even took the bill with us so we can request the same food when going to an Indian restaurant here in NLD. Of course it will never be the same, but then again, Brilliant has setup the standard quite high! :)
Good place...seekh kebab was good..u have halal options, ask before ordering halal food
Top quality Punjabi home style food.
Still the same taste of the jeera and butter chicken that is the hallmark of this Indian institution in Southall.
the food was very bad totally should have avoided the restaurant
I've been to Brilliant several times now, after it came highly recommended by a family member and have not been disappointed to date. The service is attentive and the dishes are superbly cooked and well presented. Will be back again soon :)
This a 'brilliant' restaurant literally. The food is excellent especially the coriander and lime chutney. The vegetarian option is excellent and the dal makhani is superb. Highly recommend.
Waited 2 hours for food, staff was very rude and full of attitude! This was my first n last visit here ever
Very, very disappointed with all aspects of this eatery. We first visited this restaurant 10 years ago and it was excellent. Even three years ago it was still of high standard.
On this occasion the service was poor and the staff were not attentive. The quality of the food was dreadful. In fact all four of our mains looked the same and had little flavour. We will never visit again..
50% of(f) food missing from the plate.
Went there yesterday, and found out that the govt scheme of 50% off also applied to the food served at Brilliant. Not just to the price.
While the govt pays for the 50% off given to customers, Brilliant has chosen to cash in on it by serving only half portion to unsuspecting customers who dare not question why there are only half portions on each menu served.
We can came here for a birthday and was sorely dissapointed, the majority of the reviews here clearly do not represent the overall poor food and service, with a booking we were made to wait 10mins when a table was already available. The starts were plain in particular the lamb chops were coated with a thick unknown substance with no marinade on the meat, food was taken from our table without being checked if were finished, the mains had no flavor also. Not being from southall I have no idea why this restaurant is award winning? If this is the best Indian dinning experience southall has to offer then you should take a 10min journey to wembley and north west London for a better dinner out.
Staff were Brilliant, the service was top notch. The food is bit too Pricey for the Quantity served. Was served by Sunny(the Goan Bloke)
Just one word, Brilliant! Great ambience and delicious food.
Fernandez our waiter served us well. Busy Thursday night. Prompt service and good food
restaurant brought up to 21st century food and service still classic
Very bad service and quality. Uncooked food... Ordered one thing and got another thing... They fought with me over the phone and had no manners. No apologies. DO NOT RECCOMEND. Staff is very bad. Too expensive. I could go on for ages... DO NOT trust this restaurant.
I just love the food at the brilliant I can t fault it. Lovely friendly staff
It s ok decor good I didn t know about the parking tell the last review and the feedback
Terrible experience, the manager was horrible and spoke down to us and was incredibly rude, it was such a shame as the food was good and the ambiance but we left feeling very upset. Would never go there again!
Good restaurant, seems pretty popular. Book table in advance. Slightly on expensive side.
Bad experience ..!! The Team has no regrets for unsatisfied customers. The food is fake with permanent pre made curries for different meats. The curries were made in prep shouts ago and earlier on, and the meat was thrown in later. The taste chicken and lamb was not authentic at all. The beer was warm enough and the manager was not apologetic for anything. I heard a lot about this restaurant but it s all about a tachi decor and nothing else.
Nice place for a evening dinner, food is good, quite busy in the evenings. Had a great time with family and friends
Food was not at all authentic, not quite sure how they won so many awards. The service was average - they served their dishes on top of candle lights which made the pots very hot and hard to handle.
Wouldn't go there again.
good place for family nice staff price is OK food are also good limited parking feel like home so you will enjoy specially fresh grill........
Booked a table for 8 a few days before hand. Had to amend numbers twice since then over the phone, which was accommodated with no fuss. Also told us they would seat us upstairs so slot times wouldn't be an issue (because of the 50% scheme)
From start to finish it was faultless. Service was very polite, efficient and quick. Although we were there for the 50% scheme the restaurant didn't scrimp on anything, from portion size, presentation or service. Have been before and will go again. Personal service from father and daughter owners is what makes this place so successful in my opinion. See you soon!!
Best currys resturant in London + management take care that the curry's are well presented on the guests table with the test of time
Nice and good place to take family and friends good food nice atmosphere l loved food there
Went for dinner last night. Was impressed with the new interior and also the home made pickles. They were amazing! Especially the mint and mango. Everything had amazing flavour and we ate loads! The only negative is that I think the waiters should have waited for everyone to finish the meal before clearing the table. Apart from that can't wait for our next holiday to come again.
WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN-
Came here after good reviews from friends. Had to wait 10-15 for a table which I had pre booked!! When got to table, took another 10 minutes to get menus and drinks menu but instead of handing them out he just dumped them on the table. Ordered food- food was okay but most disastrous
All chutneys where pre used by someone else and had to be asked to change
Lamb curry came in watery sauce
Califlower dish was cold
Everything else was okay but way to much heat and no actual flavour
When spoke to Manager, he had the cheek to try and give me an excuse!! Terrible service!! Should have apologised and corrected the issue. Couldn t believe it. There are so many curry houses out there with a great point of sale, this does not. Clearly they need to sort the kitchen out and get more staff
Such a shame
Service was excellent friendly staff
Good atmosphere will go again.
This spot obviously knows how to take care of their customers. Always with a super nice mindset. The food is affordably priced, regularly flavorful and clean.
Great restaurant....fantastic food.
Very professional....keep it up.
From special occasions such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries to just a regular meal, Brilliant had been the choice for me and my family for over 8 years. I visited on the 21 of August for my birthday along with my mum and dad. The food was so different, sheekh kebabs were cold and flavourless, they had been the same kebabs which were being used at the part upstairs as they were cold and not fresh. Ordered butter chicken, one off my favourites on the menu, however same story as the sheekh kebabs because they were simply bringing food from the party rather than preparing it fresh for the customer. I thought maybe they are busy due to the party so I didn't complain as the food was always nice and everyone gives it another chance. I then ordered their "fresh passion juice", it tasted like it had been in the fridge for way too long and literally there was a foul smell coming from the glass and at this momement I had to get up and leave without having my mains because they literally couldn't keep up with the service or food. Charged me at full and didn't do anything to apologise. Advise for the owner, concentrate on your restaurant rather than selling your books because we all know that prince Charles won't be buying your book but instead might just visit your restaurant again and take some inspiration of food prep from Dishoom, clean and hygenic plus they serve their customers fresh food. Before anyone thinks I am just doing it for the sake of ruining their reputation, I am not and even the owner knows how many times we have visited their restaurant. Average of twice month for eight years and this is how they decide to tears their customers. Don't avoid this restaurant but just be careful because they have changed.
A very nice dinner with family last night, particular favourites included the nicely toasted papadoms, Masala King Prawns and Gajar Ka Halwa. Very friendly, efficient and COVID secure service; we enjoyed the little details such as the array of chutneys and pickles offered, and the hot towels at the end of the meal. There was a tiny mistake in the order however they went above and beyond to fix it. Would recommend highly.
Honestly? I hated it. The food is bland and has no sense of taste...
Its really disappointing as curry gravy was so thin and food is cold. Wouldn t recommend.
Very old name in good indian food but by time taste and service has decline need to pay more attention towards taste and service.
I feel sorry to write reviews but it's matter of original taste which they lost.
Sorry
Good food .. but abit pricy !.. paneer tikka wasn't great but paneer curry was amazing !
Love Indian food & since I am vegan they were happy to assist with my special request. Many thanks.
Nothing Brilliant about this place. Food prices have gone up and the quality downhill. Such a massive shame.
Food was great and the staff was friendly but the service was very slow. Waited a long time for our mains. Family was getting frustrated as we was hungry!!
The food here was really nice, not too spicy and a nice variety on the menu, we can here for a surprise 50th and the venue upstairs was finished to a lovely level of decor. Would come here again
Pretty poor food quality. Chicken curry was a very dark, almost black colour. It looked like some jar sauce poured over some pre cooked chicken pieces. Dhal was not great either with the grains still a bit hard tasteless the dish pretty tasteless. The night we went the had two big parties of screaming kids and mums. The kid had their colouring books and crayons and were busy screaming at each other when not colouring. The mums were as bad. It was like a after school creche. On the plus side the waiters were polite and attentive. It's the cook they need to get rid off. Don't thin we will be going there again.
Poor quality food. Fish masala tasted like out of a packet, seekh kebab and chicken tikka meat was just not pleasant. Rice was fine, naan was ok too.
Surprised by the prices considering its location, decor and the low quality food.
There are many better Indian restaurants so save yourselves for those

Attended a close family member s wedding event and I was utterly and disapponted at the quality of the food and service. The Hall was over-heated, the food was cold each time it was bought out to the guests and we had to send it back numerous times. The next day and for the rest of the wedding week, family members, friends, all our guests came down with food poisoning and this affected the wedding numbers at the end of the week. Brilliant had the audacity to claim it wasn t their food that caused so much illness and they state the same food our party consumed was prepared with the restaurant guests food- did we pay extra for nothing? For severe food poising, rude customer service and over-heated halls, this is the best place to go!
"Brilliant" is the right name for this Indian restaurant! Authentic Indian dishes that I like well.
From New Zealand, visiting my wife's family, fell upon this place. Fantastic service, fantastic atmosphere. Best food we have eaten out in forever, almost as good as my wife's cooking ( JUST in case she stumbles across this review)
Sadly this restaurant has declined in standards. Have always been a great fan of this restaurant and have eaten there for years. I read the reviews and decided to ignore them based on previous visits and delightful food. They have changed the recipes, my husband has food poisoning from the sheek kebabs, I refused to eat them as they tasted off, the biryani was awful, it used to be so lovely, and the chicken tikka was also awful. These dishes have been modified to obtain greater profits with disregard for the customer's health and satisfaction. I also suspect that the over salting of the food is to get customers to drink more in the restaurant. The price of the food here I always accepted because of the quality but this is shameful. We know the owner of this restaurant and I have to say it is such a shame he has decided to go down this route. I always respected him because he focused on quality and customer service and as a result he grew a successful business. Sadly he has decided to focus on profit alone and that is going to ruin his business. He is a talented cook in his own right having been taught by his father, but he knows he has sold out to money and it is such a shame.
Brilliant food, the waiters were polite and we didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive. Will defiantly come back again.
Haven't been here for a number of years. Really liked the new menu. Food was tasty. Service was great. But felt portion of mango lassi was a bit small
Food was good and interesting menu, staff were friendly and efficient, but it was a bit cramped. Worst thing though was the noise. Maybe because the tables were too close together, but we couldn't have a conversation. Won't go back.
Excellent food. One of best London experiences was coming here on diwali
find this a mediocre restaurant despite the hype
have been coming here since 70's
but dont come too offen now as there are better restaurants
their food seems too spicy
daal makahni was watery and lassi not that great
would i come again
maybe give it a year or 2
Great traditional food. Not you usual takeaway stuff. The best I've had since moving from Oldham
Good food/Good services. a bit pricey but i guess that comes because of the name & service. All in our group (around 12) were mostly happy and no fault. only fault i heard (as the one who organised the evening) was parking difficult to find one as very busy side roads. recommending for families /groups/& the one with kids for casual dining out
Have been there before. Good food and service. But this time we could not enjoying anything due to a medical issues with a family member, had booked a table for 16 we had to leave and they fully understood the situation
I love this spot! They have high class dishes, they have a rich menu, The chief cook in that spot is very trained, I love very much eating all their dishes. The food is consistently of high class, the service towards the customers is agreeable. I frequently visit this place and I not even once was disappointed. I highly recommend it.
Very friendly welcome and fantastic food. Would highly recommend
Absolutely appalling for our first time visiting this restaurant. Me and my partner visited the restaurant after watching the faceoff between the brilliant restaurant and another on a Gordon Ramsay program. My partner really wanted to try it out as it was down the road and we had never tried it despite living in London for two years. We ordered the fish pakora, chicken karai, lamb masala, boiled rice, plain naan and a roomali roti. The fish was actually cooked beautifully and tasted great. But after that, everything went negative. The rice was undercooked and reminded us of uncle Ben's style rice, it definitely was not fresh. Then the chicken was undercooked and not fresh at all. My lamb dish was okay, nothing special at all, just okay, but the actual lamb itself was flaky and definitely frozen. Both dishes definitely were not as great as some of those that we have tried in places around west london. The taste wasnt the best as you couldn't identify a separation between the Ingredients, not that even your eyes could do so either as the dishes were all very dark (Seemed as if the chef just mixed a load of spices together and hey presto, heres your supper). The only saving grace for the main course was the plain naan and the roomali roti (first time tried or heard of) which were absolutely perfect.
Overall, it was an appalling experience, the manageress seemed friendly, but completely ruined her credibility with downright defensiveness of her food, and from the u turn on the final bill. Prior to her U Turn, I would genuinely have said I'd try the restaurant again as I believe in a second chance, sometimes restaurants can be bad on a certain day, but that U turn and the audacity for it just ticked us both off. I feel as though after featuring on the Gordon Ramsey program, this restaurant has tried cutting corners as they believe Gordon's influence on the restaurent will keep it running despite a reduction in quality. Yes the restaurent is roomy and beautifully furnished, the waiters are friendly and some of the food was good. But as someone who loves food and great quality service, it is unacceptable to say the least. I regret to say, we will not be coming back again and will not reccomend it to anyone.
