Even if you don't like opera, the festival on Lake Bregenz is a show not to be missed just to enjoy the scenography on the water, an element that in one way or another is used in the representation itself. Here the Carmen stage on stage in 2017-2018. The town is also a gem worth a visit anyway!

Highly recommended. The opera Carmen was sensational. Performance and artists were chosen correctly. The technique of the stage was unsurpassable. The stage sank in the lake and they also let it rain. You just have to experience the floating stage.

The floating stage is a unique experience - even without an opera experience. The stage design fascinates in constant change and emphasizes the plot, as well as emotions. The actors are great.
It is worth bringing an "opera glass", especially in the back rows. If you do not have one, it is recommended to rent one on site.
German subtitles are displayed.
All in all, great!

The floating stage is also open during the day and can be admired.

After walking past the backdrops of the floating stage over the past few years, this is the first time I've visited an opera as part of the Bregenz Festival. The backdrop of Lake Constance at dusk makes a visit to the opera in Bregenz an experience. There are plenty of dining options on the forecourt. A visit to the festival is also recommended for newcomers to opera.

The performance of Carmen was terrific. When I saw the stage for the first time, I thought, oh God, how ugly. But during the performance and thanks to the excellent introduction, it became a true marvel of video technology. And the end, wow, I was scared for Carmen, but I do not want to spoil.
