hey, I would just like to post my recent experience at breakthrough. I went to the pantry to get food after recently having a fire. I needed food to feed my family they told me I got ould not receitfood because I had no ID with a address in their area code. I was hurt and hungry. I spoke with a lady name Valerie, she was in charge, I just want ro thank her for making it possible for my family and I to get food to eat. Had it not been for her my grand kids and I would have been hungry, so again thank you Valerie for hearing me out and making it possible in spite of the rules, the exception was greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work and continue to work with your heart. God will bless you. Thanks again Audrey Geddis.

I believe this place to be a safe haven for women & men in need. I work for a facility that eventually has to transition the clients out of the program. This facility is one of many that we introduce to the clients as an option for next level care. Few clients have express to me that this place helps them in more ways than one.

I have only visited the cafe located in Breakthrough but it was awesome and I thought I should share my experience with the world. Everything on their menu is pretty cheap and the food was fresh!

I recommend this place for all women from ages 17 to 70 that is homeless to come here, they have a great support system and housing leads are excellent. So if anyone knows anyone n need of shelter THIS IS IT!

I volunteered here through my employer Pangea Real Estate with our Pangea Cares initiative. This was my second time here and I enjoyed talking with the residents and serving and preparing a meal for them.

With four buildings, this non-profit focuses intentionally on meeting the needs of the residents in East Garfield park. The services are still available for everyone, as the support centers in the men and women shelters are popular destinations for the homeless. Breakthrough is able to serve all ages from preschoolers in their fulltime child care program, to seniors with a fresh market to supplement grocery bills. Breakthrough partners with Lawndale Christian health Center to provide medical services on-site.

This is a really great place. A dear friend had decided to collect clothes for women in need suitable for both the (then upcoming) holidays and job interviews as part of a Landmark course. She wanted to find just the right shelter so she could help the most people.

After talking to several places she found Breakthrough. They said they'd love such a donation and invited her to come down and see what they did there. We were both very impressed with what we saw. They appear to be doing a great job not only in providing shelter to women in need, but in helping those women find a way to help themselves through education and work-training.

A place that really helps those in need. They have a men's center at 402 n St. Luis as well. Provide shelter, assistance with housing applications, and have a day center Mon-Fri 9am to 3pm for showers, laundry, and lunch. All they ask is that you do a chore.

They are the best! Their culture of being like Jesus is as close as human may become; they treat their guest with much respect. It's a clear environment. Even the Front line employee live up to Breakthrough's core values and mission statement.
