Evaluation cleanliness tasting tour to the cellar. I had the impression that a paid tour included a tour of the plant and then a tasting, but it turned out that you were simply being taken to the cellar, told about draft beer, three types were poured to try and eat cheese. And that is all. I'd rather go on a free tour instead.

Short walk from orange line train. Great, funny, free tour. Samples at the end. Doyle did a great job. Do this tour! Don't be mistaken ... when you see the Hafenreffer smoke stack ... you are at the right place.

If the promise of a guide shouting "free beer! Wooo!" every few minutes is your idea of a good time, you'll probably enjoy this tour. Otherwise, it was rather lacking--almost none of their beers are brewed here, only specialty batches, so its very unlikely you'll see any brewers "in action". The accompanying tasting was also disappointing--we tried the Boston lager, Oktoberfest, and latitude--all commercially mass produced beers I could try anywhere. For actual beer lovers/aficionados, you're better off just hitting a pub.

For a small donation, you learn a lot of history, a free glass, and pitchers of beer! They also have off season/rare gallon beer jugs in the gift shop for $15 or so... Makes a great gift. My dad loves winter lager so I got it for him for Father's Day! He was surprised and loved it.

A fairly short tour but the tour guide was funny and informative. Plus at the end you get to sample three types of Sam Adams, including one they are currently developing. The tasting glass makes a nice souvenir too.

There are three parts to this tour, the grain room, the brewing room and FREE BEER. The talk in the grain room was very interesting. The second part explained the brewing process at such a fast pace I didn't really understand any of it, it was merely a precursor to the FREE BEER to come! I would also have liked to have heard some of the history of the Samuel Adams beer brand, so overall it was a bit disappointing.

Went to visit family in Boston. One of the days it was raining, so we looked for cool indoor things we could do and decided to try out the Sam Adams Brewery Tour.

The Brewery is just outside of the Boston area and was easy to get to and find. I would just recommend getting there around 20 or so minutes before the start of the time slot because the parking lot is very small and gets packed quick.

One big plus about this tour is that it is FREE! The just ask to make a $2 donation to the charity that they represent which i was delighted to do. Overall, the entire tour was fairly quick. I'd say only half hour of walking around and explaining the history and facts of beer. The speaker/representative of the Sam Adams brewery didn't seem too enthusiastic, kind of just like going through the motions.

The end of the tour is the most exciting part, when we get to sample a few of the different beers! Got to test 4 beers and they gave a free Sam Adams sample glass to take home!

Overall it was fun and something different/out of the ordinary. If you are visiting Boston and like beer, I would say this is worth adding to the list of things to do!

My wife an I take this tour every time we are in Boston.
The brewmasters are very passionate about the beer they make and the tour is fun.
Love the sampling at the end of the tour.
I took my Dad the last time went, who dislikes a most American beer, and he loved this one.
We we're allowed to sample their Original Boston Lager as well as a seasonal brew.
The tour is free and well worth it.
Easy to get to right off the subway.

Tour guide said you can get a free beer mug at Doyles but you have to buy a beer. Not a problem but good thing to know. Very funny tour but would have appreciated more info on historical facts of brewery and how they arrived at taste of beer.

The price was right as the tour is free. The brewery tour was average. I have been on others that were a lot more informative. I would like to know more about the Sam Adams story. The beer sampling was enjoyable. I like their pale Ales a lot. Cathy was a good tour person.

My boyfriend and I had a fun time at the Samuel Adams Brewery. The tasting room has board games to play while sampling different beers. We did the Bier Keller Experience where you learn about our barrel-aging history and process while sampling beer with cheese pairings. It was very informative and we got to try a few of their "exclusive" beers. We had a great time.

They lose a star as this isn't really a big production facility that's good for tours, but it was a fun stop for any Sam Adams lover. The taproom was small but nice and the bartenders there were knowledge and friendly. Worth stopping in, just don't get your hopes too high for an amazing tour.

Been on several brewery tours and this one was a different experience. It is a $2 donation preferred to get in. They have a nice lobby full of beer facts. Our tour guide Tom was excellent! We tried some new beers that you can only get there. The recommended a local eatery- as there are several in town that have special Sam Adams beers on tap and it's the only place you can get them. We had a fun time and learned a little more than we knew. And drank beer!

This brewery is really cool and definitely worth a visit.

The Free tour is pretty amazing equipped with explanations of the ingredients and the brewing process and then FREE beer samples. However, at around 100 people on each tour, expect that it's a bit overcrowded and you might have trouble hearing everything that goes on. We would actually pay a small fee for the tour to have it be more intimate.

The gift ship is great and the there is a great outdoor and indoor seating to enjoy a pint of your favourite beer after.

While I love just about every Sam Adams beer I've had, I am extremely displeased by the lack of availability of Sam Light. Sam Light is by far my favorite of the brand. I know, not what you had in mind I'm sure. But it's what I prefer. But no one seems to carry it any more near me. Please help me find it!!

Great tour, alot of fun and learned alot about the beer making process. Decent amount of sampling in the tasting room. Tour guide was great, very funny and knowledgeable about beer and Sam Adams obviously. The brewery is south of the city, easiest to Uber so you can imbibe in the tasting room and their taproom.

I think its technically free but they ask for a donation. Classic brew tour: Try malt and smell hops. The brewery however is tiny and awesome that you walk through. Sam Adams's experimental brewery. The tasting is a bit more family style: Sit next to strangers and pass pitchers around. Good time.

Informative and fast 60 minute tour. You get to last all about the delicious ingredients that make sam adams. From the boston water to the hops it's all about quality. The best part is the FREE beer... Parking is limited. I'm on the street let's hope I don't get towed!

A free tour at an iconic brewery. What more can you ask for? Comedic relief with our tour guide? Nice. Free beer tastings and a free glass, you say? Score! In all seriousness, I had a great time. I love the science behind brewing and love to see how different breweries create their craft, from big to small. Even though this is a "larger" brewery, you can tell everyone is passionate about what they do and take the craft seriously. Our tour guide, Doug, was hilarious. Really the most fun and memorable thing I did in Boston! Highly recommend!

I was really really excited to come to the Sam Adams Brewery with my friends. For almost a year, I've heard really great things about this place. Sadly, I walked out rather disappointed.

Although the tour is free and you do get to have a bunch of free tastings + a take-home prize in the form of a 7 oz glass, this tour is just blah. Maybe I was the only person not in on the secret because no one else seemed to mind the fact that we learned almost nothing about the brewing process other than how to identify hops and barely from each other. This summer I went to Harpoon and walked out feeling like I learned something. Here, it just felt like the tour guide was reading off some narrowly written script. The free beer made up for a bit of this disappointment, hence the three stars and not two.

Well, at least it was free.

The guides are great, we just felt it was a bit small for the grand scale of their production. Not much different from a local brewery you could experience in your home town. Free admission, while asking for donations instead is very noble. And of course you can't complain about free beer at the end of each tour.

I love Sam Adam's and always have a great time at the brewery! Go in for a 30min tour of the brewery and then a 30min tasting of 3-4 different beers. And then of course, head down to Doyle's on the party trolly any Saturday! If you go to Doyle's with your brewery pass you get to keep your glass when you order a Sam Adam's! Only cost $2 (suggested donation) to take the tour. Great place to take friends and family that are visiting.
