If I could give no stars I would. So last Wednesday I went to visit my friend who was staying there for a few days after a procedure. The male nurse that came to check on her (over an hour after she pressed the call button ) He came in gave her some medication, fiddled with the computer then realized she was empty on her IV began messing with the injection site removed the bandage, left the room, returned a few moments later replaced the bandage, flushed the IV, swapped the bag and left. THE ENTIRE TIME he NEVER USED GLOVES or SANITIZED HIS HANDS. I then see him walk into the next patients room and start that whole process over with no gloves or sanitation on the other person. I have since tried to contact the patent advocate and file a claim. I have called and left messages every day with out a return phone call. Also they also gave her no blanket just a thin sheet for the entirety of her stay (5 days) she was so cold she had the heat in there turned up to 85 and was still not warm enough.

On the PT side, the staff at the location I went to, (Portsmouth Blvd), they couldn't have been any more friendlier or helpful. My only gripe is their exorbitant charges. For 30 minutes of their time, charges were from $175.00 to over $400.00! Even though my insurance carrier was picking g up the bill, I still think they were over charged. On any given day, I would see the same people, perform the same exercises, and the bill was not consistent day to day. What gives?

Arrived at 1pm and was admitted. Waited for hours to get seen by the doctor. Once Dr. Scott Brown arrived she was more worried about popping her dreadlocks back and forth and listening to herself talk, than assisting me. She kept saying "ok" "alright". And I had to wait 9 hours until she put an order in for me to eat. 1030 pm nurse came in my room with a TV diner. TV diner with 580 mg sodium with my high blood pressure. I was very upset that Dr. Scott Brown took so long, I slept hungry. I will never come to this hospital again. Sentra is the best place by far. Per the nurse the doctor waited to see all the patients before putting any orders in.

We have been in the ER for over 24 hours waiting on a bed upstairs. I keep asking when will my mama be moved upstairs and I keep getting we are full and have no place to put her. So the ER is now full of patients waiting for beds upstairs. Was then talking to husband about taking her over to Norfolk general and the nurse rudely interrupted my conversation with they full too. Dont expect to get far at Maryview. Waiting for the Hospital Administrator to voice our complaints!

I took my 3-month old there because her on-call nurse said she needed to go to the ER. Reuel was extremely rude and short, and when he took my baby's temperature via rectum, he FORCED the thermometer in, causing her to cry!! She never cries from that. Even later, when another nurse took her temperature, she didn't cry. Reuel needs a serious warning!! I hope this message gets to him! No wonder they call that place Murder-view.

The absolute worst hospital in all of Hampton Road...

The absolute worst hospital in all of Hampton Roads, and possibly the worst anywhere. My wife was taken from the medical office building next to Maryview to the emergency room by ambulance for a serious spinal-tap injury, and despite her doctor calling the ER physician to alert her of my wife's condition and the need for immediate intervention, it was several hours before an emergent MRI was even performed, and several hours more before it was determined that she actually was in need of emergency surgery. During the more than 8 hours she spent in the ER, my wife was never examined by the ER physician. What little care she did receive was from a nurse and a PA. When finally contacted, the spinal surgeon was able to relieve the paralyzing pressure on my wife's spine, and for his expertise, we are extremely thankful. This was followed by a week as an inpatient at Maryview, where the care she received was adequate, but with none of the compassion or concern I would expect from a Catholic health care organization. She was then moved to the Maryview rehab facility attached to the hospital, where she spent several weeks just learning to stand and hopefully walk again. Some of the staff there were exceptional, but to others, it seemed to be nothing more than a job. We had to request that one nurse's aid, who was extremely rude, rough and uncaring, be prohibited from entering my wife's room. While there, she suffered a partially collapsed lung and severe edema in her lower legs. I was eventually able to get her transferred to a nursing and rehab facility closer to our home in Chesapeake, where she was actually cared for as a patient, and where she was able to progress enough to return home after only a few more weeks.

Honestly they don t even deserve this one star. This is my first visit here and I ve heard nothing but bad things about this place but honestly it was the closest hospital in which I m currently at and have been waiting the past 3 hrs. I was involved in a car accident earlier and my head is pounding uncontrollably. I explain everything to them they take me back and tell me to come back in the waiting area in which I have been in the past two hours now. The staff is not very knowledgeable this place stinks like nothing but urine and dirty diapers. Everything everyone has said about this place is nothing but the truth. She tells me they aren t going to do a CT scan so now I m just trying to figure out what the hell I m here for ? But mark my words they will do one.

My grandfather had to be admitted because he passed out on the sidewalk. They later discharged him saying he was dehydrated . He couldn t even walk to get into the car. We go to Sentara on Harbour view and they tell us he had a stroke. I see why they are called Murderview. Please do not go here if you value you or your loved one s life.

They falsified status update information on the min invasive surgical area. When I asked about it. Their response was "the staff in the pre op area was probably just too busy to properly update and report patient status electronically, they probably just didn't have time to hit the proper buttons when they needed to" WOW!!!' I was TERRIFIED. If they cannot be bothered with hitting buttons. How are they going to be bothered with performing spinal surgery on my boyfriend?!? I am currently waiting to find out now. I am praying his outcome is better than his quality of care received here at this facility.

Two members of my family has been to this hospital. Personal I know when it come to having to run test and look at the patient it takes time but if they come back with the same problem y'all need to think outside of the damn box and help people. No one should have to run all over the 757 to get the correct care they need.

My mother had a hip replacement and she was overdosed by the nurses that were in charge of her care which caused her to have seizures for 4 days until I took her off all her narcotics. Thanks to the good Lord my mother has regained her mind back.
I do not recommend that you do not take your family there if you don't have anyone to stay and watch over them.

I can't say much about the actual hospital itself, as I had surgery years ago and everything turned out well. But what i CAN speak about is how poorly the Emergency Department is being managed. The patient registration staff is rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. People have to wait ridiculously long just to be seen, and even longer to actually be put in a room/bed (often because some homeless person gets triaged just so they can have a bed and tv for the night, and not get booted out, and they end up occupying a bed that can be for people who have actual emergencies). If I ever have to go to another hospital, it sure as heck wont be this one (unless i am in a dire situation and it's an absolute LAST resort and death is the only other option).

My boyfriend was admitted into maryview from harbo...

My boyfriend was admitted into maryview from harbourview er with some chest pains. When we got there they hooked him up to blood thinners they barely were telling you what was going on. We were told that he was going to need a stress test but was gonna have to wait till Monday we got there 12am Sunday morning. We were trying to figure out if having chest pains was such a concern why didn t they do all the tests the same day why did we have to wait. The nurses told us that they had to take his blood every 6 hrs but when they did they weren t telling us if anything was changing or how his blood was doing. We had talked to a cardiologist who at first came and told him that he was most likely fine and it could just have been reflux. Then left and came back and said well maybe we need to do a catheter from looking at you ekg, but why wasn t everything looked at before you came in and talked to him. My boyfriend wanted to leave but everyone told him it would be best if he stayed. So we stayed, at 745am Monday they came and took my boyfriend to the heart center to do a stress test to take pictures of his heart and do another ekg. He told me that when he got down there he had to wait for someone to come to him so they did 2 ekg and the doctor told him that they were good then they took the first set of pictures of his heart and said those were looking good as well and told him is your stress test comes back negative you can go home. So the whole one he s down there different nurses and doctors come in looking for him like how do y all not know where he is so I m like he went to get a stress test done. So 2 1/2 hours go by and I haven t heard anything or seen him so a nurse comes in and I ask do you know how it s going nobody has came and said anything to me. So she s like I ll see what I can find out and come right back. Never comes back! So then my boyfriend calls me and says come down here with me. So we re still waiting for the results of the stress test mind you they told him everything else is good so 3-4 hours go by and still nothing. So we re back in the room and keep asking the nurses if they know anything and nothing so my bf says I just want to get discharged y all keep poking and taking blood but won t tell what s wrong or what s going on. So the nurse says okay but imma let he doctor know so she can come talk to you. So 45 mins goes past and the nurse come back and no doctor. So my boyfriend just wants to discharge. Moral of the story how do y all have patients there and y all can put things inside of them but you can t even answer the questions as to why they need it. It s no reason that my boyfriend went for test at 8am and still no results then they tell us you might have to stay a day or 2 longer smh but why ridiculous so we will be following up in Norfolk no more maryview !!!

I was employed here for about 4 months. This place is the worst place I've ever worked out in my entire life. I really tried not to bring race into a situation like this but I was the only white person in my department and I was treated different then everyone there and also had to deal w/ racial comments. I really tried to suck it up and deal with it because I have a family to provide for, but this place is just crazy. They had someone running my department w/ no telecommunications experience. I've never seen a place like this. I was appalled that Maryview actually has patients that go missing that they refuse to call codes on. It was nuts. I walked out and never returned!

After my fiancee's major stroke, he had to go to an acute rehabilitation center. The Acute Rehabilitation Center @ Maryview exceeded all of our expectations. All of the staff supported him in his endeavors to walk again and get back to normal life and he is! Without their skill, support, and care for their patients and families my sweet heart would not have made the recovery he has in just 5 weeks. Don't get me wrong...the patient has to have a drive and the will to recover for this program to work...as long as you have that and the ability to be positive...the therapists will get you to the very best place you could possibly be. We will be forever grateful to ALL the staff at the Acute Rehab @ Maryview. We look forward to continuing his physical therapy with the Bon Secours in Motion on Portsmouth Blvd in Portsmouth, VA.

This hospital is horrible. They guessed at the right dosage level for medications after surgery and ended up giving 5 times the prescription dosage of one medicine resulting in hallucinations for a few days after surgery.

Bad experience. Took my wife to emergency room and after an understandable 2 hour wait, we were escorted to a room with blood on the floor and some unidentifiable dried up grossness. Complained to the nurse that said she'd have it cleaned up. That was a half hour ago. F*** this, we're leaving. Wife said " if it's my time to go, I want it to be in a clean place

Had to wait forever after being released for the hospital to get a doctor when I had some sort of wheezing reaction to medication. I couldn't breathe that well on it, and it continued to get worse as I took the medication. It took forever to get a doctor. The worst part of this event was watching security allow a man to be loud and belligerent and scare children in a full hospital waiting room as the police finally took him outside and talked to him.

They put my dying father in the hallway. He had insurance. The EMT put him in the hallway when knowing that this 80 something, retired math teacher couldn't urinate and have heart problems. Once finding he didn't have a pulse Maryview medical personnel , they had rushed him to the back but it was too late. He died of congestive heart failure! Marykill hospital does not care! You're not a spiritual facility. I hate you!

This is the worst hospital ever. The nurses are the worst. My husband has just escaped this torture chamber. The dumbass nurse put his urinal on the same table they served his food on. His legs swelled ip they did nothing to help him. I give this hospital a -20. They starved him to death. They hardly ever checked on him. No one should ever go to this place for care. They should be shut down..new nurses and doctors hired and subject them to more training. Their bedside manners are abysmal.im only giving one star because i cant do -5

This place deserves no stars. I would not recommend this place to anybody. My mother had the worse experience ever and not just by one staff members but all and on all shifts. I, myself, is an LPN and I know the basics and have worked in a hospital before and have never seen and given such bad care. Nobody cares around here. They don't help, they don't do anything. They just tell you to wait because they are too "busy", yeah busy at the desk talking about nothing.
