Unfortunately I'm about a year late on this complaint but it has gotten to the point where I am almost positive the service I had paid for had not even been done.

About this time a year ago I was in the market to buy a 2000-2003 BMW M5. Being based out of New York I had begun my search a few hundred miles outside of my home town to ensure I was getting a clean car in good working condition. I had found what seemed to be a clean 2002 Silver E39 M5 that I had decided was the one I would go fourth and get a proper pre-purchase inspection on. The PPI came back with only the rear brakes needing to be serviced and after hearing that I went ahead and pulled the trigger. However since then I have not even driven the car for 5k miles and have spent well over $7k in maintenance. Immediately after receiving the car I had noticed that 3 of 4 brake rotors were warped which was not a big deal, however once I got underneath the car the things were a lot worse. Torn rear differential and subframe bushings, as well as a leaking differential, both inner rear tires were just about down to the steel wire (meanwhile the dealership I had purchased the car from had told me I had 4 new tires on the car), leaking differential, driveshaft play as well as a very obviously worn center support bearing which could be heard from a mile away. And the worst damage of them all was the stress fracture on the rear subframe that required me to get a new subframe all together. There were other things here and there which should have also been mentioned however they are too minor to list out.

The car was inspected by a service provider by the name Nate and I seriously question his ability to work on any car entering the service bay. Out of state buyers rely on pre-purchase inspections for peace of mind especially when they are buying from private dealerships. I feel bad for all of the other cars that had gotten wrenched on by anyone in that service bay. To anyone that has read this far, DO NOT get your car serviced here and absolutely in no way should you pay the $200 or whatever I was charged for the PPI. Very disappointed.

If I could rate them 0/5, I WOULD. My dealership bought a car from them in March of this year. The Manheim Autction and I have left at least 15 messages without a SINGLE response until Friday June 17, 2016. They didn't even return the call, I had to repeatedly call. When they finally answered. I was hung up on twice. I demanded to speak to a manager so the same guy said he was a manager. I told him to put me on the phone with the head person in charge and threatened to call the Dealer Board before they even put the manager on the phone. The woman was rude and told me she had the title in hand Friday, was mailing it out, and would be at Manheim Monday. It's now Wednesday June 22nd, 2016 when Manheim finally calls me. She said BMW of Sterling answered their call for the first time and said they had to get paperwork to APPLY for a new title and that would be done Friday. It has been ALMOST FOUR MONTHS dealing with their run-around joke of a dealership. I most definitely filed a complaint with the Dealer Board. Not only did Sean quickly address the issues I had in my unscheduled mid-day visit, but he also recalled by memory my past concerns and made sure everything was in working order. Because of experiences like this I always recommend my friends and family to purchase or service their cars at BMW Sterling.

Beware of fake promises!!!

Beware of fake promises!!!

They promise lifetime carwashes when they sell the car (every Saturday from 7:00 AM till 10:00 AM); however, I have seen many disappointed customers waiting for hours only to get another excuse that the car wash is closed. They do not even have a courtesy note so that customers won't wait for hours before knowing that the car wash is closed.

They also force you to get rentals when you bring your car in for service and charge the customer for rental in one way or the other. Also, they charge $40 for inspection which is usually free at other BMW dealerships.

Robert Graves went above and beyond during my BMW ...

Robert Graves went above and beyond during my BMW purchase. He was extremely patient through out and was always respectful. I changed my mind a couple of times and thanks to him and the staff they were able to accommodate those last minute changes as well.

After this experience I am going to recommend him and BMW sterling to my friends and family who are looking to buy one. Thank you Robert for selling me a fantastic car!

I recently purchased a car from BMW Sterling only to learn that the car needs thousands of dollars of repairs less than three months after driving it off the lot. I had concerns about the car s performance prior to the purchase and was assured that the car had been checked thoroughly and had received a clean bill of health. False. I took the car back to the dealership because I erroneously assumed that the team at BMW Sterling would want to resolve this issue knowing full well that there was nothing I could have done to the car in less than three months to cause serious structural damage. I was wrong. After charging me nearly $200 for the diagnosis and informing me that the repairs would cost me several thousand dollars, I was told that there was nothing they could do and that I should have purchased a warranty that would have cost me an additional $5,000 at the time of purchase. This was clearly not the answer I had been hoping for.

I could not be more disappointed with my experience at BMW Sterling. I was assured that I would be purchasing a car that was in good working order and was sold a false bill of hope instead. If you re looking for a quality car and quality customer service, this is simply not the place. Please spare yourself the trouble and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

My husband and I went to look at a used 5 series a week before our house settlement and loved the car. It was the only one with the exact colors and options we were looking for. We offered BMW cash to hold the car for one week but wouldn't let us hold it because they needed to pull our credit. Here we are a week later and they are holding the car for someone else without cash down. I couldn't believe the shady interaction we had with their manager. We were there to buy the car and they had someone else who took paperwork home with them late last night so they owned the car...we shortly saw the car getting tagged and ready AFTER we came to purchase the car. One of the worst experiences we have ever dealt with. Will never go back to this dealership even if they paid me to buy one of their cars.

This is the 2nd vehicle I've leased with Kamal, and as long as he's working, he'll be the only person I work with from BMW moving forward. He convinced me to order one this time from the factory, which I've never done before. He gave me a great deal, and I was able to get literally everything I wanted on this new m340i! Throughout the process, he hosted my whole family and I at the dealership a few times to test drive different options, then to pick up the vehicle. He was a perfect host for my wife and sons, showing them the shop and the rest of the dealership while I was occupied. Most of all, Kamal has earned my trust. I can't say that about may people at all. With that, it makes everything so much easier for me, and I appreciate him for it.

I came to the dealership to buy some accessories for my car. I called to see what time they sell accessories until, and the woman who answered my phone call said that they sell accessories until they close at 8 PM. When I got here, I was told by a woman at the service desk that I was given bad information by someone who was "new", and there really wasn't any attempt to remedy the situation. Basically, sorry, but it sucks that you got bad information. Don't shop here. If this is the kind of service that you get when you're not buying a car, just imagine what kind of service you would get if you actually had an issue with your car.

I received a recall notice on my X3 in late 2013. ...

I received a recall notice on my X3 in late 2013. The letter explained that the parts would be available in January, and to call to make an appointment for the replacement. The part was not available until February, but can't fault anyone for that. I had to reschedule my appointment once due to the weather. Before my appointment, I received a call from the service department that my annual inspection was due in March, and they would do it while my car was there. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my 9am appointment, and my car was taken in immediately. My service advisor was Bijan Hosseini, who was excellent. He was professional, courteous, and took time to answer my questions and concerns. He told me the repair would take approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours (which was the time advised in the recall letter), and he would keep me updated. They have a very nice customer waiting area, so I sat down with my book and a cup of coffee to wait. In about an hour, Bijan told me they were almost done, and it would take about 15 minutes to do the inspection. Right on time--I was out almost 45 minutes than expected. He apologized profusely that they wouldn't be able to wash my car as the car wash wasn't working (he said mechanical, a sign at the front of the waiting area stated due to the weather). He walked me to my car rather than passing me off to someone else. We leased two vehicles from Sterling within a month, and so far, my experience with the dealership is very positive.

Professional, efficient staff. Dropped off at 7:00 AM, on the road in a loaner by 7:10 AM. Called when my car was ready, dropped the loaner at 3:15 PM, on the road in my car by 3:35 PM.

It was a nice experience especially at a car dealership. We of course do not purchase an automobile every year
When shopping for a vehicle we have been somewhat frustrated which definitely affected our purchasing decision. There was a little confusion on the sales person assigned to us from our internet interest. Once they paired Aiman with us he took control. He met us and was very relaxed - no pressure at all. My wife and I liked him which other than the car we liked definitely impacted our decision to purchase the car. We did not need or have to buy a car - it was a decision made that morning to go to the dealership and take a look at what is available. Aiman took care of us and stood behind BMW with good knowledge about the product. The car will actually be my wife's on a daily basis but of course I will take it for a spin on occasion. I drove it once and is an awesome driving experience. If we decide to purchase another BMW then we will be contacting Aiman to help us with our journey! My wife does want one of the bows like used when the car was uncovered. She wants to put a picture beside the bow on display in our bar/game room at home. I think she will probably keep wishing but you never know one could appear in the mail one day..... :)

I came to BMW of Sterling yesterday. I came for rear tires change. I called before coming and made an appointment with Zack. When I talked with him he said they have available 2 tires. When i dropped off my car they said the tire is not available and they offered me a loaner car. I did not approve of a loaner car and picked up my car after 25-40 minutes. Also, they washed my car even though I didn't want it.

THE PROBLEM IS MY FRONT WINDOW IS CRACK WHEN I PICK UP MY CAR.......!

Each service visit has been seamless, the facilities are clean and the waiting lounge is super comfortable and equipped with a strong WiFi signal. I was shopping for a 328i, I looked at the Fairfax location and then went to the sterling location, and it was a totally different experience,
Jose was my sales guy and he helped me with what I was looking for, He showed me at least 12 cars because he knew I was very very picky, and finally I picked one that I liked, he was busy with other customers but never got irritated. He was great, I even drove his car and the next day I came to get my car cleaned, he said his car was in the shop because I took it for a good spin, lol, Jim, Heather and Malcolm were the finance people. They knew what they were doing, I told them not to shotgun to 20 banks because that would impact my credit score. They sent it to 4 places and got me approved. I was out of there in 2 hours max with car and all the extended Warrenty, if you are looking for a bimmer I would go here and talk to
Jose and he will take care of you.

My BMW Client Advisor - Greg Maxiutin created the best experience a buyer could ask for when considering to purchase a luxury vehicle. I was uncertain if I was ready to purchase 3 months ago, but Greg still took the time to answer all of my concerns and questions I had during that 3 month period. Never pressuring me to purchase, but encouraging me that it would one of the best purchases of my life. He was not only knowledgeable of the BMW X5 series that I purchased, but clearly was able to articulate differences in design, equipment, dynamics and efficiency of other BMW makes/models.

One of the additional qualities I see in Greg is his enthusiasm and commitment to personally ensure that I am still receiving the BWM experience, upon needing to work with the service/parts department representatives for accessories and future services.

My experience buying a car from Sterling BMW has been great! I was lucky to have Robert Graves as my sales presentative. He was very patient and respectful. He gave me plenty of time to look around. Even when he saw that I wasn't sure about my decision, he did not hurry or pressure me. He didn't lose interest in me as a probable buyer and answered all my questions. I custom designed my car and Robert updated me every time my car went through a process in production and shipping. He was very helpful from start to finish. I highly recommend future buyers to seek for Robert's assistance and expertise.

I would recommend anyone to go here if looking to buy a BMW. I was greeted by Aiman who took very good care of me throughout the process. He then brought in his manager Tim Woods who worked with me on the purchase (he also gave me a personal test drive). I went to BMW Fairfax a week before and ended up walking out. These guys never made me feel like a BMW was out of my price range.

Sales portion was not bad. Terrible experience after the sale. Terrible communication. I enjoy the vehicle but would NEVER do business with the again. They have a bad reputation amongst other dealers and previous salesmen but I wanted to shop within my community because covid affected the dealerships sales. Lesson learned. Take their best offer and go to Fairfax or Alexandria and they will meet or beat the deal.

I have had a very good experience with them so far. I bought a MINI from them back in August, and had a first-rate experience with my salesman Abraham Evans. He is a genuinely nice guy and not your typical car salesman. Even though I am not one of their high-dollar BMW customers I felt I was given very good service, and it was late before I got finished so I know the folks there were probably ready to go home.

A few months later I had to bring the car in because the check engine light came on. I have experienced none of the horror stories I've read from other people on here, even though my car is under warranty so I'm not having to pay them and it's relatively cheap compared to some of the other cars they sell. I called ahead and set an appointment and scheduled the shuttle to work for the day hoping the issue would be minor and there would be a quick turnaround. The shuttle was great, got me to work on time even though there was traffic and I was late for my appointment and picked me up after work right on time.

The only complaint I can think of is that the service did take a full day to complete, but I can understand because they are so busy. Shawn Peace, my service manager made up for it by offering me a loaner for the night which again was painless.

Overall they made no money from me on my service trip and I received great treatment throughout, so I can't complain.

MINI of Sterling sold me a Cooper S with missing safety equipment. I could not pass a Maryland safety inspection. MINI of Sterling's service department made the best of a bad situation and only charged me $250 to make it right. I guess that's a good used car experience.

I brought my car to my dealer to have a few odd is...

I brought my car to my dealer to have a few odd issues fixed on my BMW. They gave me a loaner and it was great to be able to get my car fixed and still make my work obligations. Unfortunately, while driving on 95, a rock hit the windshield and chipped the glass on the loaner vehicle. I was sick over it. I knew my insurance wouldn't protect me in this instance. Regardless, honesty is the best policy.

I walked up to my service representative, Sean Spicher and told him what happened. He took the loaner to be evaluated by the technicians. After inspection, Sean made my day saying they could fix it and all was forgiven.

All my issues on my car (driver door hinge malfunction, cracked window washer tank, faulty washer hose) were all replaced promptly and covered under my warranty.

I am very thankful the dealer I bought my car from values honesty and treats their customers better than they legally have to. Since the paperwork I signed to receive the loaner said I would be responsible for any and all damages.

You best be sure, whenever I need service in the future, I'll make my appointment with Sean Spicher at BMW Sterling!

My wife brought in her car a few weeks ago with a check engine light. She said that Carlos was the very first to greet her and help her. She did not know much about her cars problem but Carlos made her felt comfortable as he explained what he was going to do with her car. After the car was checked he spoke with my wife about the cause of the check engine light and again she wasn t quite sure about the problem and didn t understand. She asked if he could give me call so he could talk it over with me before proceeding. Carlos then called me and talked over the problem with me and cleared up any concerns we had about our vehicle. I really appreciate his help in getting the information across and not just trying to sell my wife needed things. He was very professional and we will be sure to bring our vehicle back and ask for him................

Just wanted to add, we came back to this location recently I was also present this time and we saw Mr. Carlos again... Very exceptional service and highly pleased with the quickness of him addressing our concerns and getting us on our way. We will definitely continue to use this location and see Mr. Carlos.

Originally received a quote for a 320i xDrive at a...

Originally received a quote for a 320i xDrive at a different DC area BMW center and decided I would see if Sterling BMW could match it as it is much closer to my home. Well not only did they match it, they upgraded the vehicle to a 328i xDrive for only $3 more a month and it even had more options. Sal Ufyani was extremely receptive and made sure I was getting the best deal, as my location/temporary housing situation is very complicated. I haven't owned a BMW since 2005, and this reminds me why I shouldn't have left. Overall, very pleased with my experience with Sterling BMW.

While initial lease transaction went smoothly, the after process did not. I was told by not only my sales adviser, but two managers that I would not have to pay VA Personal Property Tax due to the garaging address being in New Jersey, where the vehicle will be driven 80% of the time. Well fast-forward a month, I received a call from George Jajonie in finance that I owe $1,700 in sales tax for NJ on top of the sales tax I paid for Virginia. I was never told this at the time of signing (of course). He told me that I was liable, and I responded with take the car back because he failed to tell me this at the contract signing. I have since initiated a complaint with BMW USA due to George J. not returning my phone calls, and dodging my voicemails. I do not recommend this dealership as they are not honest, and do what they can to push a BMW out the door.

**UPDATE 11/21**

Christine Kim was notified by sales staff to contact me regarding the complaint on 11/16 and I have still not received a call back. BMW of NA was notified of the entire situation and escalated the complaint.

Potential Buyers & fellow BMW owners beware.
I dont normally rely on social media as a means to get customer service but I guess I am done being patient!
As a person who chose to purchase my luxury dream car with lot of expectations at this location, that enrages me.
I only chose this place because of my cousin's reference.
Could I have read few reviews and done my research,this is place will be not in my list.
Firstly, Here's my story/complaints which can also be a Shocking example of bad customer service:
Issue 1: Brand new Car was found with crack on windshield, after many discussions sales team replaced with new one for no cost.
Issue 2: Very unprofessional way in replacing windshield caused damage on the dash board as shown pics uploaded. (Outstanding issue)
Issue 3: No detailing done, car used by service team and delivered with strains and oil spills as shown in pics uploaded (Costed 300$ for detailing)
Issue 4: No respect for customers time, long waiting to get hold of service team and managers.
Pros: Found exact color and style of my dream car.
Bottom line:
This place is so lame, don t know why it has four stars, terrible service and my unresolved father issues mean I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK.
If I could leave negative 2 stars I would.

I just purchased a 2017 I3 in November 2020 and the buying process was a breeze. My sell person was Matthew Tillman. He did a great job until it was time to reply back regarding my licence plates. I'm a pretty reasonable person, however I had to reach out to him in late Dec because my temp plate was expiring. He did Fedex me a another set of temps quickly. However, My biggest issue is that this dealership is awful with responding back to questions. I've been calling and texting Matthew with no replys at all for the last week. Finally, I was able to speak to a manager Julius Green in regards to my licence plates and he asked me to forward my info via email.
2 days later and no phone calls or emails. This is crazy. My son purchasd a car two weeks after me and he received his licence plates within 4 DAYS, so it's not the DMV. Now it's mid-January , almost 2 months with no permanent plates. This is supposed to be a high end dealership but their lack of communication skills are troubling. If I don't hear back by next week then I will be forced to file a formal complaint. I hope it doesn't come to this, but all of this could have been avoided if they would of communicated with with me. I look forward to your response.

Danny Saboor is great! He is always willing to go out of his way to help. In our process to find a car, he listened to our needs and did his best to find the perfect car. When the car we wanted wasn t available, he patiently took us through the process of ordering a new 2020 X7, making sure we got exactly what we wanted. After our purchase, he still continues to help and stays in contact with us to be sure we are happy. He is professional and cares about his customers. We have purchased 2 BMW cars from him in the past 6 years and we will certainly buy another from him in the future. We definitely recommend him to everyone.

When ever I go to get my car serviced at this dealership I always feel like a valued customer. The service staff is friendly and attentive and always follow up with progress reports on the service. Also have been in for a few while you wait services and the customer lounge area is really conducive to getting personal or office work done while you wait.

Servicing my car here was great! Drop off was painless and they got me a loaner so I could continue about my week hassle free. I got an alert when my car was ready and the pick up was quick and smooth.
