We were sitting at the bar. There were two employees behind the bar. The only other 'patron' was an off duty employee.

We were completely ignored so they could chat.

We didn't enjoy the ciders or wines either, but the bad review is entirely for the service.

This place was laid back and the staff was friendly. The barn was rustic with lots of lavender blooming in front and picnic tables and corn hole out back for guests. We made the trip because the whole place, both indoors and outdoors, is dog friendly. When we showed up on a Sunday afternoon, the place was super busy with most of the tables full. The two staff members were super nice but also a little too overwhelmed to provide more info about our drinks.

We got the cider flight and a cheese plate. I thought the first cider seriously smelled like toilet bowl, and it really made me struggle since it was supposed to be the "best" of the flight. Maybe my nose is extra sensitive, but I couldn't convince myself to even taste it. The other 3 in the flight smelled better, although another one also smelled kind of dank and on the edge of acceptable. My SO didn't notice the stink at all, so who knows. The style of cider is definitely DRY DRY DRY, with that exception of the one with honey.
The cheese plate was generous in portion though not fancy. They gave corn chips that had some sort of nacho seasoning on them? Not sure if they were trying to go norm-core/embrace the basic on purpose or not. We enjoyed the plate nonetheless.

Overall, I would give the space and staff 4 stars, but the drinks were a 3. Given their focus on cider, it was too hard for me to round up.

Positives:

Positives:

+ Interesting Chickens - kids loved this
+ Wooded area that kids loved to play in

Negatives:

Mediocre wine, expensive for what it is
My wife was chastised for bringing coffee with her. Inappropriate. For goodness sake, they don t even provide coffee themselves.. I can understand us not being allowed to bring in outside alcoholic drinks, but come on.. coffee?
Close to a busy road, so not really an idyllic surrounding

Sorry, but we will not be coming back we did not feel welcome and the wine is poor.

Cool small location. The products are lacking and only a few barely stand out. It'll take a good many more years before this place finds its (good) distinguishable attributes. I would read the review written by Tschaggatta Band; as someone who is professionally trained in alcoholic beverage tasting, I think they need to hire some more knowledgable and experienced tasting room staff. Other than that I had a 4 star experience.

You're probably driving around right now looking for places to drink wine and pass an hour or two. Bring some meats and cheeses, and enjoy a nice picnic on a beautiful afternoon. Because that is what we did yesterday afternoon, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The staff was expedient, helpful, and knowledgable of the products they provide. Hope to be back in the future.

The folks from H&P are just good people. Always inviting, friendly, and just plain fun to be around.. The ciders they offer, are by far some of the best that I've ever had. Super laid back environment, very good atmosphere. Stop by, get a glass of Hops n Honey. You'll see..

Love this place! The wines are delicious, but the ciders are my favorite. The staff and owners are warm. Best of all it is situated on a property that is kid and dog friendly! I love that I can relax with old friends while my girls play on the grass or in a pirate ship tree house and meet new friends. Even the other guests are friendly and charming.

Terrible wine. Staff poured wine without saying one word about it. Had to drag information about what at least makes this place unique from the staff. The wine was undrinkable .. sour and not in a good way. Scenery just ok.

The best of northern California! An idyllic setting to have a wine flight tasting and a cider tasting. The four different ciders had unique flavors from dry to sweet. The staff was extremely accommodating and our doggie loved sitting in a large shaded/sunny yard, with varied seating at picnic tables or Adirondack chairs, while we induged on an enormous cheese plate. Yummy relaxation.

Horse and Plow is a west county tasting room worth a visit. The attitude is chill, and relaxed. It is really unlike other tasting rooms in Sonoma County.

Gwen first brought Horse and Plow to my attention when she told me they were having music on the patio outside the tasting room on a Friday night. She wanted to go see what it was all about. I thought "Music and Wine... I'm in"

We found Horse and Plow to be a small intimate place with parking spaces for about 15 cars. Luckily an employee was using his creativity to put cars in places you would normally not consider parking. We went inside and sampled a few wines before choosing a bottle to buy (Rose' I believe) and take outside on the patio. Can't remember the name of the band but they were good with a southern rock genre. We met my pest inspector Bill Mashek, and enjoyed a beautiful evening outside, with food we bought from Andy's Produce Market down the street. In the tasting room, you can buy bottles of wine or a growler of wine which is more cost effective if you plan to refill the bottle.

Horse and Plow makes all organic wines and buys from strick organic producers. They have a nice choice of whites and a number of reds including Cab Franc which can be difficult to find in Sonoma County. They also make several varieties of hard cider. Horse and Plow is an unusual place and definitely worth a visit. If nothing else, I recommend coming on a Friday evening with friends and enjoying the total experience.

Good sustainable winery that makes good quality wine with quality ingredients. Cute place with a very friendly staff. We stopped for a couple of tastings with a cheese plate and were very happy with our choice! We will definately come back!
