Great chocolate, friendly staff, and really good value!
Love how the whole neighborhood smells like Chocolate.
Overpriced considering the factory is right there. Also the milk chocolate is waxy, it's about on par with Hershey's.
My favorite chocolate place. White chocolate Ice cream is the best
GREAT selection! Unique items, great baskets. Fresh candy, made on site. You won't come once, you will keep coming back! We drive near an hour to shop here
The Lexington Chocolate is the best chocolate that you will ever eat in your entire life....it just is... The chocolate gummy bears are fan-freaking-tastic as well, and they sounded gross to me before I tried them.
It was busy and very tiny inside but, the chocolate is amazing! I would come back
Great chocolate - I love to bake with it! Plenty of other tasty looking candy treats at this store. Friendly and helpful staff - will stop in again next time I'm in Chicago.
Large variety of chocolate needs from baking to chocolate bars that are 10 lbs. Also has a large variety of gummy candies. They let you sample the different kinds of chocolate.
Their dark chocolate is delicious, especially on the dark chocolate raisins. Their emulsifier game is strong, as their chocolates don't melt quickly on your fingers. The cheap bags of chocolate rounds are perfect for recipes.
followed the chocolate scent like an animal but the shop was underwhelming. nice choc ice though.
Fun. One door leads to the factory, workers in shower caps, other door leads to outlet. Fun.
Starred doesn't equal favorite?
If you love chocolate its definitely a place you should visit. Chocolate lovers fantasy
I passed the place many times and was always attracted by the smell of chocolate. So, today we finally made it to the store to buy some dark chocolate. The lady who works there was super nice and gave us to try chocolate ( and she gave us huge pieces to try, so by the end of our visit I felt stuffed with chocolate). They have a good choice of chocolate and I would definitely go back.
They also have delicious ice cream from the factory that uses their chocolate in production. Vanilla ice cream covered with dark chocolate! Delicious!
willy wonka did not come out to great me and there was no fizz soda drink that made me fly
Friends and strangers, this is about as close as we can get to having a Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory in the city. If only the north branch of the river had a chocolate stream navigable by gondola. But no, let us take a deep breath and pray for Aeolus the Wind God to carry the life invigorating scent of molten cocoa to a neighborhood where you live! Awesome storefront too.
Bloomer makes WONDERFUL chocoloates! They have a good location and the people are very friendly. Every thing is family ran and they will let you try chocolates if they ask. Stop in and try some! Their chocolate covered cookie dough bites are awesome!
Whenever I come near this place, the smell of chocolate lures me in. The shop is small but there are many different chocolate covered treats in bags for sale as well as a selection of bulk gummies and bulk cooking chocolate rounds. There are chocolate covered frozen bananas and chocolate dipped ice cream in a little cooler. This shop is all about the candy and is not a tourist spectacle like the big Hershey store.
I just LOVE the Blommer chocolate factory, if only for the fact that it fills the K Station neighborhood with the appetizing aroma of chocolate. While much of downtown Chicago is, unfortunately, full of poo gas, the vicinity of Blommer smells of fresh baked brownies. Nothing improves the desirability of any neighborhood like such a sweet scent wafting through the air!
Nice people and place, Terrible area for Semi tractors.
Used to be a five star place but for the last two years the cooking chocolate quality has dropped.
Blommer? More like Bloomer! As in "Chocolate Bloom". Shut up, I thought it was funny.
The neighborhood smells like brownies on certain days thanks to Bloomers. I buy the chocolate for my hair stylist and she said all the girls in the salon eat it while on their periods. I think that's an endorsement. The chocolate pretzels are fantastic.
Some of the best chocolate ever. They are one of the largest producers of chocolate in the world. Reasonably priced. Great selection, helpful staff. We keep returning.
I just had an interview for Bloommer chocolate company and I personally think it a good company to work for and gain new experience and skills the interviewers were very nice respectful and kind they gave me generous tour around the company and the employees welcome me with genuine hand shakes touring thru the company I personally would say I would very much accept a position there if given an opportunity to grow with there company. I give them five stars!!!
They have great chocolate and Cocoa. They did not post that they will now be closed on Saturday ,until the store closes permanently in a month. Drove into the city parked and found this out through a sign on tthe door.
Not the best chocolate you will ever have, trust me.
A huge selection of chocolate confections at this factory store. You will find it hard to figure out what you want to walk away with because there are tons of choices here.
We got the dark chocolate almonds, cherries and chocolate covered ginger all were fabulous! We could have bought a whole lot more but the waistline prevented that from happening plus we did not want to carry it around with us.
The only unfortunate thing is they just have the gift shop, no chocolate tours here.
If you are in the area this place is definitely worth stopping in and getting some fresh made chocolate at a very reasonable price.
Greetings Gentlemen, My Company is a Local Gold mining group from cameroon ( Pk Local Miners Group Ltd ) and we are very much interested in doing business with your Company. Thank you
It was delicious taste like my grandma ice cream and the staff was very pleasant. I tell everyone if they want home made ice cream go there. Thanks.
You cannot buy chocolate onsite. The store has been closed since Feb. came by to visit and could not buy anything. Probably online. The chocolate smell outside is delicious though. Hope to come in the future and be able to purchase onsite.
Cute little store with the best chocolate I ever tasted! Very resonable prices, too, and the whole neighborhood smells like chocolate!
Love that the whole city smell of chocolate. Keep up the great work guys. James
I drove a couple of hours to grab a gift for a friend. Once I arrived two gentlemen at the door were disrespectful and would not let me go inside because it was a couple minutes before closing. It was very bad customer experience.
We followed the scent of chocolate brownies from a mile away. We were richly rewarded for our efforts. Shelf upon shelf of deliciousness. This could be life changing.
Great chocolate. Having the cocoa % on the packages would be helpful
Oh, man, those chocolate covered cookie dough bites.... those are crazy good. Small shop full of things that you can probably find elsewhere, and a lot of stuff that I don't think is even made on-site, but if you happen to need a gigantic block of chocolate or bulk snacks, this is the place.
Delicious chocolate lots of variety, very friendly we smelled chocolate from the minute we arrived at our hotel 10 minute walk to chocolate heaven. We will enjoy it on our way back home.
chocolate galore! I'm sad the store doesn't at least have a viewing window or chocolate fudge for ice cream sundaes but there's a nice variety of chocolate to keep you busy and friendly staff to give you samples.
No need for religion to get you into heaven, just visit this place folks
TRUCKERS! Delivery to here with 53 Ft dry van with a sleeper semi.
North I-90/94 to Exit 50B East Ohio St. Right turn on Orleans St.(Super tight turn do it from the middle of 2nd and 3rd lane) Right on Grand Ave ([Wide turn] now going West) Left on Desplaines St. Under the two 13-6 bridges and arrive to docks. Check in door is inside the docks between door 7 and 6.
To back in to the docks you need to make sure you set up correctly on the 1st try as you will block 5 lines as traffic is frequent and four wheelers in a rush.
The best chocolate ever. Try the turtles! The dark chocolate is delicious and love this small candy store.
As far as a semi truck, it sucks. You have to back up into traffic that is coming from your blind side. Everyone is very helpful though from the guards to the unloading dock men, to the ladies selling chocolate. My advice would be if you're coming down Des Plaines as soon as you cross underneath that 13-6 to quickly Veer off to the left that is where you're loading docks. park on the sidewalk, because you have no other choice. This is how it should look once you get in the docks.
If you are driving semi with slpr berth and 53 ft trailer from 90 94 east take exit 50 B Ohio st then turn right on to orleans st always make sure you take wide turns then turn right to Grands ave pass by the river bridge then you see a 4way stop proceed ahead slowly then turn left on des plains and you 2 bridges 13.6 pass both bridges then park your truck the facility is on your left side walk by the big dock doors the corner end of the building is where you need to check in
On day time is gonna be hard to backup to those doors because of traffic you need to come with someone to help
But if it s night delivery after 9pm it s not bad
They are quick unloading
Always fun. They have a great selection and the prices are reasonable!
Great memories of making deliveries of powdered milk here in the late 90's and early 2000's. How much fun it was parking under the tracks on North DesPlaines St., straddling the lines awaiting your turn in the docks. I never caught the lady's name who worked morning receiving, but once it was your turn in the dock, the dock leveller dropped and the bee-ess stopped. Many visits to the store as well, when I was there late enough for it to open up, of course. When you have to go here in a truck, it's good to have directions prior to arriving from someone who has been and can confirm that you'll fit under the train bridges. I hope the place hasn't changed since I was last there some 16-17yrs ago. They had good people there back then. Their products were good, too.
I wish they had tours, but the smell of chocolate throughout the city is amazing. I used to live in west loop and wondered where it was coming from, until one day I found out and my life gained +3 greatness points.
Purchased some of their cocoa powders for $4.99 per pound for Sudan type. Usually they have NI (natural) and Redwood (black for baking), however, they were out of stock on those two types. Also purchased the solid Dark bar for @2.99 (a bit overpriced). Very satisfied with the powders which are dutch processed. Very small outlet store and many empty shelves when I arrived during the week. Perhaps an off day for stock?!? Meter Parking on the side which now requires license plate # and credit cards only. No coins accepted for a 10 min visit. Will return again.
The shop was smaller but they had a very good selection and the chocolate bags were very tasty. The staff was extremely nice. I would definitely go back.
It was delicious taste like my grandma ice cream and the staff was very pleasant. I tell everyone if they want home made ice cream go there. Thanks
Greedy sellouts. Founder passed away and the family only saw dollar signs. Wonder if it was worth selling their family history
Small store, but packed with a lot of delicious options. I always go here for the toffee covered chocolate pretzels for gifts and also pick up their chocolate chips (in multiple varieties) for baking. Friendly staff!
If you want to be a kid in a candy store, this is the place to visit. I always leave with way too much chocolate and candy.
Was excited to see a large selection of chocolate treats, but all four variaties I purchased were a bit stale. Not what I was expecting.
TRUCKERS,be careful going there, docks are on the west side of the building, very little space between trailers on the top of that you have to block two way street in order to park,I was there couple a days ago, spotter guy didn t want to help me when I was trying to back up,he was such a idiot, very disappointed
Blommer chocolate factory ! Finally I found place where I can buy brick of chocolate and it's not expensive ! Finally I can bake with chocolate I want too ;) also when you are nearly to this place you can feel it good smell of fresh chocolate !!
Truck driver best way from I-90 W Exit -51C
T/R on the stop sign is Washington Blvd to Canal st T/L and T/L on Kenzie s St and parking close to the corner
Go to security office
Not friendly takes to long for loading
can parking overnight on the back
No safe
I passed the place many times and was always attracted by the smell of chocolate. They have a great selection and the prices are reasonable!Their chocolate covered cookie dough bites are awesome!
Heading into the west loop and can't figure out where that Chocolate smell is coming from? This is the factory you're looking for. Every time I've had to commute I didn't know I was passing this factory, and now that I've entered it, I'm glad to know that they sell their products directly to consumers as well.
I bought the sugar-free Chocolate the other day, which has Maltitol. Works well with my preference, up until I realized that it's a lot like a laxative. Still, there's a wide arrangement of Chocolate/non-chocolate options once you head to the door on the right from the reception desk at the Kinzie / Desplaines Entrance.
I visit this shop periodically to buy chocolate discs to make candy. The premium melting discs are pre-tempered and can be easily molded into forms. My mother also enjoys shopping here for the Saratoga Dark and Alpine Dark chocolate. My Dad really likes the grapefruit-flavored gummy candy. My sister always finds some treats for her friends. In short, this little shop has something for the whole family to enjoy!
Their chocolate is always in the air around this neighborhood. Not sure who they are making chocolates for but they have a mini store or gift shop selling their chocolates at the entrance. I would say their chocolates are a little overpriced and the taste doesn t justify the higher prices. I would still buy traditional brand name chocolates such as Godiva, Ferraro as gifts rather than from this gift shop.
Best thing here isn't edible: cocoa shell mulch for the garden. $4 a bag.
Bloomers retail store in Chicago is closing down Feb 2020
Yes, they have a store where you can buy chocolate. Amazing.
