The Front Desk is Exceptional, the Faculty is also equally super friendly, kind and courteous. I will say its a process much like meeting new friends. It will be somewhat awkward at first but as you and the counselor get a feel for who you are and he/she is it will be the beginning of a beautiful and functional relationship. It takes time and effort on your part to make changes in your life or for it to work. Lying only delays the process and resets the trust they might have for you. I know cause I tried that. Its hard to feel sad or angry in front of a stranger. Try being transparent, take their words with a grain of salt and if their was something you dont like what they;ve said previously in a session, mention it. Ive been here for about 2 years and 5 months and its the highlight of my week!.

I worked with Bleuler for a brief 3 month period. ...

I worked with Bleuler for a brief 3 month period. I only had therapy for less than 2 months as it took Bleuler about a month to process me and then had to reschedule my meetings. On top of that, after having my initial intake appointment in Novemeber, it took until almost February for them to tell me I was out of network and then bill me for hundreds of dollars. Their therapists have good intentions and want to help, but for a person seeking mental health help, the mismanagement and lack of reliability of Bleuler caused me more distress than it did good.

The therapist, particularly Maru is extremely poor...

The therapist, particularly Maru is extremely poor at engagement, using any type of empathy skills and has no boundaries. My child disliked attending her sessions due to her constantly telling them she would get in trouble if they decided to stop coming to sessions. How do you place that responsibility and guilt on an already fragile individual coming in for help and hoping to feel better?
The waiting area is right in the same area where there are rooms therapy sessions are held. How are people suppose to feel safe about sharing vulnerable information with those noise levels and concerns over a whole waiting area hearing what is being said.

It took me over a month to get in touch with anyon...

It took me over a month to get in touch with anyone for an intake appointment. After that I waited a month for them to connect me with a therapist. I called every week to follow up to ask if they found me a therapist they never did, and just kept sending me to someone s voice mail to leave a message, I never got any calls back from them. Finally I gave up. They never conected me to a therapist nor did they have plans too. Do not waist your time going to this place they are too disorganized to even connect there patients with therapists I m not sure how this place is still in business.

I've attended Bleuler Psychotherapy Center, Inc for a few months now.The Front Desk is Exceptional. They are very nice and welcoming upon entering , the faculty is also equally super friendly, kind and courteous.

I enjoy saying that I'm kind of happy attending my weekly session. I really am and it's personally been quite sometime since I've meant something like this. I look forwards towards it every week, I really enjoy the advice I receive from therapist, knowing that I can vent about the events that go on within my life.

I m very surprised at all of the negative comments...

I m very surprised at all of the negative comments. I suppose it shouldn t be surprising, though, coming from a bunch of mentally ill people (including myself). The thing about mentally ill people who are struggling, though, is that they struggle to objectively evaluate reality. Therefore, I disagree with a lot of the reviews here. It s taken me 13 years on and off at Bleuler to become as level headed as I am now.

First of all, the status of mental health resources in this country is abhorrent. There are ENORMOUS wait times to find a therapist in both private and public health facilities. One month from intake to therapist is unfortunately really good in this country. For comparison, I lived in Boston for a year and it took me 3/4 months to find a therapist. So Bleuler actually matches you quickly with a therapist at only one month of wait time.

The facilities are run down but not in inhospitable shape. It s just an old building from the 60s that can really use renovations but it is neither dirty nor completely broken down. It s adequate for therapy and many therapists decorate their rooms to improve the dreary surroundings.

I have had two wonderful therapists here. I know I may have been lucky but I literally love them and they have helped me so much throughout life. You may struggle to find a therapist you click with but 1) try with the therapist they assign you for at least a month or two 2) ACTUALLY try to be open to the therapy. Too many people don t really try and never see positive changes from therapy - it may not be the therapist you hate but yourself as the therapist guides you in building a healthier life. 3) after the above if you still are unhappy with your therapist, ask for a new one but please don t give up on therapy. Like anywhere in the world there are good people and bad people. The same is true of Bleuler. There are plenty of great therapists there if you re willing to try to find them.

I respect Bleuler a lot because they generally do not turn anyone away. Excellent therapists in Manhattan cost $150 an hour but Bleuler has great affordable therapists.

I cannot recommend Bleuler enough and have personally referred many of my loved ones here like I was referred here by a loved one as a young woman. Please give therapy a try here (or anywhere!)
