This course is clearly not worth the 9k a year it costs to take it and I would not recommend it to anyone else who may be interested in taking it. Firstly the course content was subpar and was very restrictive in terms of creativity, I believe that independent study from online materials would have covered the same amount and for minimal cost.

Secondly the support and leadership from those above was sorely lacking and I felt hindered by the poor communication over timetable changes and feedback as well as module delivery. This negatively impacted my performance. For example during first year , I was involved in a disagreement with my tutor over theory concepts and my input over this was not considered and this was never resolved in a professional manner and subsequently affected the teacher-student relationship.

I also believe that the culture at Bimm is not centered towards the student, which is definitely a reason to be cautious about taking this course.

Overall I would recommend avoiding investing time and money into this course as most course content can be learned online and the leadership and teaching is definitely not worth 9k

I have just finished studying the Professional Musicianship course at BIMM Manchester.
I can t recommend BIMM enough, my experience was excellent thanks to the staff and tutors. BIMM say their tutors all are experienced industry professionals and this is very, very true! I have learnt from their experiences and they have helped me to grow as a person and musician. Having tutors who were amazing at their craft and knew what they were doing really helped inspire me.

The student support staff at BIMM are lovely and beyond helpful, they always go out of their way to help you even if they need to do research in order to help. This applies to the academic staff and the careers team, I have always felt comfortable asking them for help and whilst at BIMM have never felt lonely or lost.
As cheesy as it sounds, I truly believe that you get out what you put in. So if you hide away, you might not get as many opportunity or meet as many people as if you put your self out there. This shouldn t be confused with BIMM not doing their job, this is really down to the individual.

The worst university experience and a degree that is about as valuable as a frosties swimming certificate.
If you are a good musician, go to RNCM or LCOM. If you want to do Music Business, go anywhere else. What you will end up with at BIMM is being around 90% of students who have no motivation to make any impact in the music industry, sub-par lectures and a joke of a uni that has no societies and no support. There are far too many students for the resources available, and it really does seem like it is just there to make money rather than to actually provide the students with anything beneficial. Marking is quite frankly a joke, and there is no way to appeal it even if the lecturer is factually incorrect or biased. And that's when you eventually get it back as it is nearly always late. Your class of 20 will soon become about 4 because everyone else has realised that it is a waste of time or because they can't be bothered.
There are some good tutors who have industry experience and this in no way should reflect them. However, the whole experience is an absolute shambles. Each year the timetables are not provided until about 2 days before the term starts (or one year after the term was supposed to have started). You will always find yourself asking 'what is going on?'.
The whole "we have a network in the creative industry" is a lie. You will not benefit from anything like this. In fact, if you tell people in the industry about BIMM they just laugh at you.
If for some reason you manage to actually see through the full degree, chances are you will struggle to find a job with your degree. Instead, relying on your experiences as if you hadn't done the degree at all. A complete waste of time. A sham of a "uni" that doesn't even have a students union and does not care about you.
