Bilderberg chateau Holtmuhle Review

Called the day before arrival to make a reservation for the restaurant. The receptionist, despite confirming our booking herself, could not find anything about our booking. She only found it after about 10 minutes.
Then our stay. Although we fully understand the Corona measures, this hotel goes too far.
Rooms are not cleaned during the stay. Had to make our bed ourselves.
Only 2 large towels and 2 smaller ones, which you don't expect from a Bilderberg hotel. No guest towels.
Room was old and dingy, carpet did not look good.
Then the restaurant. Got a table in a super uninviting part namely in the breakfast room not really cozy for a dinner.
Main menu was put on our table about 1m away. If only we had to take it ourselves and put it in front of us. As a result my wife nearly burned her hands because plate was hot.
This morning breakfast. Were met at the entrance. You can put on plastic gloves there, then grab a tray, load everything onto your tray, and then find a place in the other room. Wasn't asked if we wanted coffee or tea. Tea and coffee pot were centrally located on a table. Find out for yourself.
In short, we had had enough and left after 1 night instead of 3.
Very disappointing.

Wonderful environment to unwind. Good staff and attractive. Excellent wine list and advice from the sommelier. This is repeatable for us.

Very beautiful castle. We have taken the simplest room through Hotel room auctions, but then it is still a luxury room. We were asked if we wanted an upgrade, then you are actually staying in the castle. We've left it that way for now. The heater is the only downside, it was very cold in our room. It is not a CV, but a convector heater. Had to heat something before it got hot. As soon as you leave your room, the heating goes out. So on return we had a cold room again. That is less, especially now that it is winter.

Nice hotel Quiet and nice. A modern and completely renovated space inside an impressive castle-palace. The dining room is large and quiet, with a concise and very focused menu. They missed Tesla loaders in the parking lot. Everything else, excellent.

Incredibly friendly staff and what a beautiful hotel this is, you really feel that you are in a castle.

Pleasant lunch outside, overlooking the water of the canal and old outbuildings of the castle. Caesar salad and white wine were both tasty.

On arrival first outside at the mulled wine with some snacks, cozy with fire pits. Then change in the room and go to the Christmas dinner.
The food and the choice of wines was really good. The service very friendly and attentive.
In short, top arranged.

To start with: if you check in here and expect a nice spa area, you will be disappointed. The spa area is outdated, the showers keep dripping and splashing, and there is no separate relaxation room. The 4 loungers are right next to the showers. There is also only a small Finnish sauna and steam bath here. The swimming pool also needs renovation, it is also a shame that there is no beautiful lighting in the pool.
Otherwise the hotel has a lot of charm and flair and the staff are all very friendly.

Room: in our double room everything was good, but we would have liked a more modern heating system and no heater fan. Safe would be nice too. We were very pleased with the welcome surprise in the room on arrival.

Breakfast: very neat and rich, everyone will be full here. The waitresses are also very friendly here.

Bar: expandable. In the lobby there are plenty of comfortable seating and there is a variety of beers to choose from, but we would have been happy about classic cocktails at the bar, which unfortunately was not the case.

In-house restaurant: highly recommended, see review for "De Alde Heerlickheijt".

Conclusion: if you value good food and a nice atmosphere, this is the right place. If you are looking for wellness, you should book somewhere else.

A small town and an AH supermarket are within walking distance
You can rent bicycles and there are enough paths for cycling
Venlo can be reached quickly
The service and food was great
The rooms are clean, as are the bathrooms, everything is very tastefully and stylishly furnished
The sauna and swimming area could be renewed and we were unfortunately a bit disappointed because of the 4 stars
Nevertheless, a very recommendable hotel for couples short vacations

Expensive food and not good! Swimming area and sauna are unkempt. Facility is very nice.

We have been here twice before and were very satisfied then. Stayed two nights now (December 2019), one night of which was an arrangement through Luxury Hotel Company. Excellent arrangement with a good bottle of wine in the room, followed by a delicious 4-course dinner with a somewhat flat Dutch Pinot Noir. Don't worry, you try something.

However, the noise of our room right next to the stairwell (until 2 a.m. at night!) And gallery with creaky floors, we do not find acceptable at this price (the second night cost a sloppy 198 euros with breakfast only). We found the lukewarm response at the reception that they did not know about this very credible. And, moreover, remained without any kind of gesture or apology. We experience this as a missed opportunity and not very hospitable. Furthermore, had a wonderful weekend.

WORST FRONT-DESK SERVICE EVER. I have spoken to the front desk to organise rooms in advance for a business trip, and found out the hotel was full. And when I asked for recommendations on hotels in the area, the front desk refused to share information/advice for privacy and security reasons. Extremely inhospitable, deserving 0 stars!!!

Chateau de Holtmuhle is on the edge of tiling. It is located by a very beautiful pond and is surrounded by water, gardens and pasture

You can enjoy the peace and the center of tiling is within walking distance.

For a cozy center you can go to Venlo or to the outlet center of Roermond.

A very nice and attractive location to enjoy the peace and quiet but also to do enough in the area.

Nice comfortable spacious rooms in the castle, large good bed with 1 mattress, good shower, good facilities in the sauna area. Restaurant is very good and surprising. Nice wine selection.

Today cozy on the te
sat down in the sun. Unfortunately we could only order cherry pie. In our opinion, this could have been more extensive with, for example, apricot pie and apple pie. After all, we are still in Limburg.

Really beautifully situated .. impressive both the hotel and the terrace and the whole site .. the staff does everything to make your stay unforgettable .. food is delicious and the tastiest fresh mint tea you have ever had .. certainly worth the effort worth

What a beautiful location. Upon entering the beautiful staircase. The wooden beams in the room make you feel like you're back in time. Friendly service! Really recommended !! Next time go for the castle suite !!

Great facilities for a few days of meetings with work. Breakfast, lunch and dinner well cared for. Rooms fine but could use a renovation.

Everything was right. Back then, we had booked the overnight package with a couple with a 3-course menu. The rooms were clean and in order, the food was great and the location of the small hotel is very nice.

Unfortunately there was no butter on the buffet. Doesn't exist in the hotel, according to the waitress. Our bathroom had no toilet brush. Our room was not cleaned overnight and we did not get fresh towels. Unfortunately we couldn't use the pool either. It was so dirty, there were insects and tufts of hair

A nice hotel on the outskirts of Tegelen. Check-in goes smoothly and the staff are friendly. Checking out took a long time as the only front desk employee was on the phone for 15 minutes before she could help us. Rooms are nice, only the air conditioning turns off at night and it gets very hot. Bathroom is perfect. At the hotel a good restaurant with pleasant service and good food. At the hotel also a beautiful park with walking opportunities.

Took an aperitif before dinner in the lounge - we had to find a waiter.
Dinner was fine. Could have been a bit warmer.
The employees adhered to the Corona rules until ....... at one point four elderly gentlemen took a seat at the table who certainly did not belong to one household and also not 1.5 meters. kept their distance.
Made a comment to the employees three times but nothing happened. Very bad thing !!!!! You would think, commercial interests.
We are now in trouble because of this kind of arrogant fellow citizens.
A renowned hotel such as the Holtmuhle and their guests must also obey the rules.
The catering industry is now closed. Supervisors, take a look at the hotels.

Fantastic domain, beautiful setting of the castle. Very friendly welcome at the reception. Spacious clean rooms. It is very cozy to sit in the restaurant, but above all beautiful, tasty plates . Also the breakfast was very wide in choice and everything of good fresh quality . Highly recommended .. we will definitely be back !!

The food in the restaurant was absolutely excellent and of exceptional quality! Creative dishes, top ingredients and everything perfectly coordinated. The service was different from day to day, sometimes a bit more attentive, sometimes less, but on average a nice experience. The hotel itself was also very nice. But I was most convinced of the excellent food! Breakfast also offered everything you could ask for.

Much trouble from a family celebrating their grandfather's birthday. Drunken screams and singing until late at night. From the songs grandpa was a traitor in WW2. Hotel let it go. The next day had some compensation but would have preferred to sleep.
Furthermore, the staff was very friendly, food was delicious and surroundings beautiful.
Recommended except for the Germans.
