Excellent library of Art with a service of excellence

Great library for anyone who is in the ARTS area. Staff attentive and quiet environment.

A fantastic ART library! I use it fairly regularly and the clerks are super helpful and friendly always ready to help!
It is extremely understandable not to allow the entrance of those who do not study arts, this is NOT a study room, it is a library for those who intend to use the books that are in the Gulbenkian's possession. The library itself is not very large ending on certain days by getting quite crowded. If they allowed anyone, who has no interest in the books in their collection, then there would be no space, at all, for the students who in fact need the books in the collection.
Some people think they have a right to everything. If you need both a place to study so go to your college library or the cafe on the corner.

Unfriendly staff. Ugly dark library. Extremely exclusive for art researchers, even difficult to get in as an art student. Conclusion: elitist policy strengthening Portugal's extremely unequal society. NO ACCESS FOR THE MANY. Farewell, never again

After more than 10 years of attending the library, I was denied entry for carrying a book in my hand. A novel, in English, that does not exist in any bookstore in Portugal, let alone in an Art library ... I question how many people like me over the years, will enter every day with books in their backpacks or suitcases. .. How perfectly normal. They don't even offer a comfortable and decent alternative space for people to stay without being cold or paying for coffee.

After being recommended to me by several people I opted to try this space. However, I was denied access for not being an arts student ... As an IST student, an institution that accepts every student who needs a place to study, I feel strongly wronged. A word of appreciation from the receptionist who, very sympathetically, invited us to attend another library.

A star for uniqueness to the arts. In an age where both talk about inclusion is ridiculous the behavior adopted. Although openly bragging with placards by PhD's garden in biology working for the foundation the library is only for "artists".

Basically is a great place with sun and large garden , the issue is students out of ART Spesialty are not allowed to study in the bibliothec, which is not fair at all regarding a student life , overall the woman that works there claimed that is the case since 2016/ 17 , hopefully it will change soon !?

They kick me out because I was not studing art there but people who were just watching youtube was okey . What a science racism is that!

It is a "very" small art library which is quiet and with a fine view to the garden. The staff is very friendly. The last times I went there I found it to be over packed.

U have to study ART to have access to this library! such a thing... ART is superior than the other knowledge perhaps ! one star for the nice librarian who recommends me another library... Pu~such a thing

Library dedicated to the arts quite complete. Inside we find a study room where silence is greatly respected. The employees are quite competent and effective. To use this library you must make a user card. To do a search there are in the entry computers, places the book request to consult, will be delivered a number that once it appears on the screens means that you are already in the room. To purchase the order book simply go to the counter giving the password and your card. Once used it must be delivered. You have about a maximum of 3 books per order.

It is an odd library, in the specialty and in the services provided, selectivity for users of the arts is very important, not only due to the silent but present interaction between users, as we are within a space with the same objective to study and investigate, thanks Gulbenkian
