Always and absolutely fantastic experience at a price that s more than fair for the quality and service. Pro-tip: definitely take the tour and go to the dessert room, don t fill up on dinner because the dessert is almost better.

I love this restaurant. It has classic, upscale service in a beautiful setting and is so much fun. The meals come complete with salad, vegetables and entree so they don't ding you for every item. They have an amazing wine collection that can set you back, if you indulge, but oh so wonderful! They offer tours of the wine cellar and kitchen. After dinner, you should plan to go to the dessert room. The "Cappuccino Bern's Steak House" coffee is so delightful!

I had heard great things, we got all dressed up and away we went. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice restaurant. But not $150 for 2 people nice. The atmosphere is stuffy. There is only valet parking, the decor is horribly outdated and mismatched, and so is the food. I ordered a medium rare steak and it came to the table medium well. Had to send it back. The vegetables were mushy and over cooked, the salad was very uninspiring, and the soup was your standard, get anywhere french onion soup. Berns needs to step into the new millennium, update the decor, get realistic prices back on the menu, serve better sides and cook them properly. I will not be going back.

Amazing we had the private room with a required minimum and it was great. The food was top notch. The waiting staff were hilarious and great to be with. They were ao attentive and really added to the total experience. After dinner we got a tour of the kitchen which was okay you learned some cool stuff like how they go through 400lbs of onions per night! After this they took us to the wine cellar and this was so cool, definitely a highlight and a must if you are dining here. Once the tour was over our group went up to the desert room and it did not dissapoint. We tried a ton of dessert. I wasn't a huge fan of some. I tried the chocolate peanutbutter truffle, and my lord let me tell you this was probably one of the best desserts i have ever had and would definitely recommend this place.

We have lived in Tampa for 16 years never went to Bern s. We are moving out of the area and decided to go to say we have been there and see the reason for the hype. It was an unique experience especially if you know the story of its creation. We kept it simple and at the suggestion of our server ordered the steak with the sides. The steak Was Awesome. The sides nothing exceptional And I even got a different salad then the one offered. We took the kitchen tour which was interesting to see so many people working as a sycronized team. However, I noticed the kitchen stations were only preparing the steak with the regular sides. Where was the fish, the lobster the chicken dishes being prepared? Next up Wine Cellar tour. I don t even drink wine and it was impressive. Unfortunately we did not have time for dessert. Upon leaving the restaurant we smelled a strong cigarette odor as we opened the front door. Two women patrons were standing by the valet smoking right outside the door. I almost threw up my $125 dinner the smell was so strong. I moved to the opposite side of the walkway to breathe and that area was covered in cigarette butts. Pretty disgusting.
Overall experience was good. Don t really get the hype though.

What can you say. I haven't been in awhile, like years, and the place is still awesome. Wish I can afford it more often, but any time I get there its awesome. Everyone needs to go at least once. Steak was perfect. I know dry aged awesome beef, but the best part is you get it exactly as you want it. I did a ribeye between rare and medium rare. Spot on! Was melt in your mouth good. And if you are lucky enough to go please dont pass up the dessert room. Ever hear of macadamia nut ice cream? They make it as a house specialty. It is ridiculous. I had that but the others were also satisfied with what ordered also. Can't really go wrong other than some pain in your wallet. Dorsey was our waiter, very nice guy did an excellent job. Appreciate the service.

This place is amazing. The food is beyond excellent, the service is the best I've ever had. The decor is pretty crazy tho, especially the main entry way. Looks like different eccentric decorators were each given a room. Loved the dessert floor tho.

I was last here in 1986. With this visit, Owen our server was exceptional, considering I was dinning with 2 mentally disabled adults. He was patient and accommodating to their needs. Oysters, Shrimp cocktail and Foie Gras a La Plancha was wonderful. The Filet Mignon, Delmonico, and T bone that followed where amazing, as were the sides. The dessert room was as I always remembered. We had a wonderful meal, with dessert, and the service was beyond our expectations. I cant wait to return!

The waitresses had a friendly competition among themselves to see who could wear the most unique and artistic stockings. I had no idea nylons came with such beautiful patterns. Beyond that, the food was great, service was fast and attentive, and the food came out hot and delicious. Oh, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, a great experience!

Steak was very bland, server took forever to take our order, sides were room temperature; just not impressed overall. I had better steak elsewhere for a significantly less price. For such a costly meal, below average doesnt cut it and definitely isn't worth it. Wont be going back.

I took my mom here for her birthday. We shared a large rib eye and baked potatoes. Waiter stuffed it on our plate with zero presentation. Just "plop". Taste was pretty bland. No the steak did not "melt in my mouth" and the whole atmosphere is pretty pretentious. Update 2018: looking at the pictures the presentation hasn't changed. Come on Chef! If you were on Chopped you'd be cut in the first round for poor presentation.

Edit August 2018: went to the dessert room for my birthday. We had an enjoyable time and things were tastey but not really high quality. The Creme Brulee was overcooked, more of a thick custard and not a creme at all. Chocolate cakes and ice cream were bitter (like 80% cocoa type bitter). The liquer for the baked Alaska gave the entire dish a metallic flavor. Coffee was ok, again, still had better. I can name many places with better coffee, lattes, etc; both locally, and abroad.

If you go here you really should get the Lobster Bisque and a good cocktail(Hemingway Daquiri). I'm not a huge steak person but figured I would go all in as this was my first visit. I got the filet which comes with French Onion soup, salad, baked potato with the works, veggies and fried onion rings. They have a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar after dinner if you are interested. I reccomend the tour because their wine collection is so massive it's really impressive to see. They have a separate dining area for dessert after dinner which is super fun unless you're uncomfortably full like we were after dinner. The dessert rooms look like giant wine barrels and your able to control your music or make requests from the pianist. We ordered Bern's cappuccino which is a boozy delicious coffee beverage and the macadamia nut sundae(amazing). We were told after 6pm you can go to Bern's and request a table for dessert without dining in the restaurant. This was a fun experience and look forward to a return trip without eating to much so we can truly enjoy dessert.

Excellent experience, the service was great. The food was delicious and mouth watering. I had the Seared tuna and the New york strip. Entrees come with salad and soup, potatoes and vegetables. After my meal we did the tour of the kitchen and the wine cellar. Berns has a huge selection of wines and some that date back to the civil war.

Simply put, one of the best meals I have ever experienced. It isn't just the food that made Bern's special, it was the entire experience. (though, the food was amazing too) The service throughout the entire night was incredibly good. You have to go into a night at Bern's with the expectation of spending several hours, it is not a place to go if you plan to get a steak and be in and out in an hour. If that is your expectation, you'll be disappointed.

We started with drinks and starters. To say the wine list is impressive is a huge understatement. The beef carpaccio was very good to start us out, even though we didn't really need it, with the size of our main course that was yet to come. A 75 day aged Delmonico was on special the night we visited, I couldn't resist, it was incredible. The rest of my group ordered filets, which everyone raved over. All were cooked exactly as ordered. All of the sides that come with the steak were also great, including the french onion soup, vegetables (green beans and carrots) and onion straws.

The tour of the kitchen was interesting, but overshadowed by the wine cellar. It was incredible to see so many wines that old in the cellar, and it was only a fraction of the overall collection.

The desert room was also great. We all ordered our drinks of choice, wine, port, single malt. All were priced very reasonably, for what we were buying. (we weren't going cheap) The macadamia nut ice cream is absolutely as good as advertised, we ordered more after our first taste of it.

Overall, we were there for about 4 hours, and don't regret a minute of it. An incredible experience that I hope to replicate the next time I visit Tampa.

We were told Berns was one of the best steakhouses ever. They were 100% correct. The food was amazing. The wine and spirits list would have taken a solid couple of hours to read. Take the tour that was interesting. The steak was amazing. Everything was world class.

If you asked me to make a list of uniquely "Tampa" places to eat, this would probably top the list. The food is great but the service is really on another level. Bern's understands that it is a destination in itself and makes you feel special while showing a respect for the history of the restaurant.

Food was decent. Waiter was not very tentative when our drinks were empty. We had a party of only three, our waiter gave me the wrong cooked steak. My father and I ordered the same steak, his medium well, mine medium rare. Hopefully this a one time occurrence since I have a reservation in late April.

This amazing steak house has been one of the greatest tasting experience of my life. The steak sizzled in my mouth bursting with flavors I've never experienced before .Not only was the entree phenomenal but the service was willing to help the costumer in any way.Lastly the wine room was cold but interesting not to mention the fact that we were walked through the entire kitchen ,which was organized and absolutely fun to watch .One of the best part was the formal feeling you were some where special.I mean you kind of are.

An amazing experience, the staff was incredible and extremely knowledgeable. Went on a tour of the kitchen which was impeccably clean and fascinating as they take you to the wine cellar as well and give you history and show you their most expensive bottles. The dessert room is an experience all on its own....you sit in giant wine barrels and it is nice and private and there is a LOT of wonderful and rich desserts to choose from . The food is incredible and you get so much of it, the steak is perfect, the sides are excellent. With the price it's not something I can be a frequent flier of but it is definitely a very cool experience. Don't go if you are in a hurry as you will be there a couple hours if you take part in all they have to offer.

Moved away from Tampa in 2008, but anytime I travel back, this is the one restaurant I must visit. Although they serve lobster, this place is well known for their aged steaks, wine, and dessert (if you can make it that far!). It is a fancy restaurant experience with several courses of soup (4 cheese French onion that is the bomb), salad, steak with side of vegetable and baked potato. Favorite desserts are King Midas, bananas foster, cheesecakes, etc, etc, etc served in a dessert room decorated in varnished wooden wine vats. Berns has the biggest wine cellar in America, and it's own hotel across the street. It is a dining experience that is extraordinary!

SO unbelievably AmAzInG and delicious!!
Bobby, our server was outstanding! He set a great tone for our dinner.
The pre dinner cocktails were tasty, large and very reasonable; this place is GreaT value for what you get: french onion soup, large delicious salad with homemade dressing(s), baked potato with all the fixings, vegetable of the day and oh, did I mention The Steak?? We had chateaubriand for 3 and it was tender, succulent and cooked to perfection. Fabulous wine selection as well!
I highly recommend that you take the time to do the kitchen and wine "storage" tour. The tour is very interesting and not thaT long. Tyrone was awesome with the kitchen tour and Tony was wonderful detailing all that goes into the wine selections.
Please go up to the dessert room for dessert! Cozy ambiance and a whole different experience. We had the hot fudge sundae (OuTsTanDinG!!!) and chocolate chocolate chocolate cake--also delicious. Justin was the greatest!
My Dad has been RaVinG about this restaurant for almost 4 years; he doesn't even live in Tampa, he lives in Washington state, but when he's in Florida he goes every time. We drove almost 2 hours for this meal/experience and it did noT disappoint! It was even better than I expected.
Thank you so much Bobby, Kurt, Tyrone, Tony and Justin for a most memorable evening!
Also, thank you Bern!!

Come here not just for the food, (which is excellent,) but for a real dining experience. Table service by actual professional servers who actually know what they're doing. Highly recommend the kitchen and wine tours, and the dessert room is a MUST. Ask any server to hear the history of the restaurant for a great little story.

Great place and definitely worth the visit. Food was amazing (although the steak was not on par with Charlies), I will say that there is such a huge selection of steaks that next time I will try another cut and it may change my mind. The atmosphere and attention from the staff is exceptional. The prices are fair and sides were perfect. We skipped the tours but indulged in the dessert room and feel it was the best part of the night. We will be back!
