Worthwhile if in the neighborhood and interested in history. Excellent theatrical presentation with audiovisual and live actor. Call ahead to reserve a slot. Sometimes they have extras on short notice, but don't expect it.

A nifty tour of Ben Franklin's life in London, well done in a mixed multi media/live acting style. Different from any other tours I'd seen before and quite engaging, despite the fact that it's basically just an empty house. ;]

Why does no one ever discuss the fact that 11 dead bodies were found underneath 36 Craven Street after Ben Franklin s departure? Also founded Hellfire club; research that for an eye-opener, and then ask yourself who BEN FRANKLIN really was.

It wasn't what I had expected. I wanted to wander around the house and see it as it was when Benjamin Franklin lived there - with furniture. There's no furniture and just an audio overview of his accomplishments and life. There's an actress filling in some bits. Not for me I'm afraid

We had the London pass and decided to hit one more spot on our first day (it was the only thing still open toward the end of the day) the group for the tour was 6 people. It consists of many videos and a live actress discussing Benjamin s time in London. It may have been the most awkward thing I ve ever seen. The home he lives in has no furniture in it. They show a video of what the rooms may have looked like with furniture, but when you go on the tour you are literally looking at rooms with nothing inside that Benjamin lived at at one time. The actress moves you through each room pretending she s from the era and recounting her time with Benjamin. I would highly recommend the London pass. But don t make this a priority.

Interesting little known site.

Interesting little known site.
Excellent staff knowledge.
Price okay given quality of guide, but more a place for atmosphere than historic artifacts, of which there are extremely few

Disappointing. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, but the house had a long life and went through interior changes between the time Franklin lived here and when it because a museum, so while it is indeed where he lived, it doesn t look much like it did in his time. Further, there are no furnishings, original or otherwise the house is pretty much empty. To compensate, a costumed guide takes you from room to room, playing the part of Franklin s landlord s daughter, and in each room a video is played telling you something about Franklin s life in the house. In the end I came away for an appreciation for Franklin s life in London but disappointed that those learnings came from the numerous video recordings, and not from the house itself or memorabilia. Be aware that the only access to the house is via guided tour at fixed times listed on the website--if you just show up, you'll have to wait until the next tour that has space available.

Interesting and informative dramatic tour of his London house given by a costumed actor with multimedia accompaniment and an introductory video beforehand. Most rooms are quite bare but in authentic and original condition. Small groups only and no photography allowed.

Ironically for a man who did so much to bring about American independence from the British Empire the only remaining house he ever lived in is in London not the US. The house has been very well curated to really give you an insight into what the man was like and the events surrounding his tumultuous time in London. There are 2 possible tours, the historical and the architectural. I took the historical which includes a very convincing actress who re-enacted the part of Benjamin Franklin's landlady (they became great friends). Particularly recommended for American visitors who will gain a fresh and interesting take on one of their most famous founding fathers.

Worth a stop by! It s wild that this house is the only remaining home of Benjamin Franklin. The combination of technology, story telling, and the real life tour guide is interesting. The outside is easy to miss! Definitely take time to use the restroom - the original stove is in there, ha!

Interesting historically. Tour was not bad - it went on a little too long - but, overall it was interesting. Not much to see in the rooms of the house. I would recommend if you are a history buff.

I was surprised by the quality of the acting. The only disappointment I had was that they advertise themselves as being high tech and state of the art. It's really just projectors and hidden speakers, nothing much.

Had a great experience here. Didn't know what to expect. Great insight on an often overlooked member of american history. This is the only tangible residence of Ben Franklin left in the world. Which is a bit of a disservice to a pretty remarkable man. My only complaint is I was hoping for some Ben Franklin artifacts to see. Props to the volunteers who run the house.

The tour lasts about one hour and it is a nice and interesting thing to do on a rainy day. Even though there is almost no fumiture in it, it was still worth it. It is nice that everything gets explained in a very special way with an actor and projectors showing pictures or little movies. I far preferred it to reading signs and it gave you the feeling you are part of a life that happened many many years ago.

I meen there's not really much you can do with a few rooms. But they've put loads of work into restoring it how it would have looked. Staff super knowledgeable and nice and are thirsty for a chat. Pop in and have a look round.

Very educational, interactive, and enjoyable way to spend a few hours in the afternoon; particularly relevant before going to see Hamilton in the West End! The staff really appreciates education as well which just adds to the experience!

Really liked visiting here. I thought the presentation was both artsy and interesting. The actress was great. The only thing I wished was that we had more opportunity/felt more welcome to poke around the house. I also felt the hosts at the desk were rather lukewarm to visitors.

Check online what tours they offer on which days. I had more of a history tour which explained Franklin s many stays in London and his personal life. I was expecting an architectural tour of the house that would explain the history of each room, its purpose, and any modifications over the years.

Who knew Ben Franklin lived in London? I was super excited to check out this museum since it s lead by a costumed re-enactor but honestly it was a bit disappointing. We were in with a large group and as you move from room to room the guide began before we even got to the next room. So I missed out on some info. This is no standard museum. There is no furniture or things in the rooms to look at. It s more of an audio visual tour. Interesting concept but a bit lacking.

Great place for a school trip a hidden gem of history with lovely staff and volunteers who are very knowledgeable about the venue and history. Children that we took were very engaged and had a great time and learnt a great deal. Small venue with lots of character , there is also lots of other events that are going on in and around the house for families and adults. Would recommend a visit.

Very educational and interesting. Role players acting out scenes from when Ben was around. Nice way to spend about 45 minutes and you feel smarter coming out. Not much signage out front so easy to miss the place.

Wasn't what I was expecting, but well worth the 8 pounds to get in. It was fascinating to hear Benjamin Franklin's story told through the view of a British tour guide/museum. Definitely felt like I learned some facts an American museum would never release!

The Historical Experience is somewhat unusual as you are led around in a group by a costumed guide who acts the part of a member of the household when Franklin lived here. The guide interacts with audio and video in each room yet most rooms are without furniture. You can't speak to the guide as they have to play their role but at the end a member of staff comes to answer questions. Unusual but I still learned a lot.

Very informational tour. The house is well restored. The staff extremely knowledgeable. Worth the entrance fee. Great to learn about a man that didn't start out as a revolutionary but just wanted to heal the rift

Really unique experience for a historic house. The way they interpret the house for you is very different from other historic experiences. Would highly recommend it, especially if you love Ben Franklin.

I really liked it. The given information and presentation was really good. Of course you can google a lot of these information also on the internet, but to be there and to see it "live" is a given bonus for all people who are interested in Benjamin Franklin. Congratulations to the Team

All I saw was a sign that said 'Ben Franklin lived here'. I tried to open the doors on each side of the sign, thinking it was a museum, but I'm not to sure it wasn't someone's home. That would have been embarrassing, had I went in.
