This is long winded....sorry....but I figure some people might want the details....I live in Ithaca, NY and my family came to visit from Staten Island NY. We decided Belhurst would be a good place to visit because of the view and amenities. We decided to do a wine tasting and dinner there. The wine tasting was pleasant and we all enjoyed the wine and cheese pairing. Only downside about it was that you can't sit down for the wine tasting. You need to stand at the bar...which was not doable for my elderly grandmother who came along, and not fun for my young cousins. We went to a different wine tasting beforehand (different business) where we had our own table which was much more of a pleasant experience overall for a family.

Then we decided to do dinner at the Stonecutters tavern because we weren't feeling quite fancy enough for their restaurant, just wanted something more casual. Due to covid they could only accommodate 6 people at a table so our party of 8 needed to be split so we sat at two tables of 4 (which is understandable). I ordered the Statesman Steakhouse salad which is supposed to have "Steakhouse marinated USDA choice beef tenderloin medallionsover romaine and mixed field greens with crispy Tabasco onions, crumbled Gorgonzola cheese and grape tomatoes. Finished with a herbed red wine vinaigrette." When it got to my table, there was no steak on it. I dug through the salad to make sure and told the waitress who apologized profusely and took it back to the kitchen. My entire family was finished with their meal before mine came back, again, not the waitresses fault, but she apologized again. When the salad came back there were only three teeny tiny steak medallions on it. I would expect....I don't know, five of them? for a steak salad, but at that point I was starving and something was better than nothing. When my salad came back I asked my waitress for a refill of my drink and she never brought it. When she came back with the check I asked if she had charged for one drink or two and she said just the one. At that point I was like well I ate the whole salad without a drink but, okay whatever, as long as I wasn't charged.

I think the waitress felt bad because she took the whole salad off the bill. I think the waitstaff was amazing and it's genuinely a GORGEOUS place, with amazing views of the lake, but, I wouldn't eat there again. I honestly would recommend buying a bottle of wine and then sitting out on their deck (which they will provide glasses for) enjoying the view and drinking out there. Not a horrible experience but also not the best. And avoid the steak salad if you're actually looking for steak.

Make sure you get a room in the castle. The other locations are comparable to a Run down motel. When purchasing a night stay it stated to include breakfast. We arrived @845 45 min before they close down. No orange juice, no fruit, warm milk, and mismatched bagel halfs. They did offer a menu of things we can purchase but were not included. I d recommend staying at the Hilton or Marriot down the road.

We wasted our Thanksgiving by bringing the family to the Thanksgiving buffet. They lost our reservations, the food was cold, and it was pretty unappetizing. At $36/person, we expected a nice meal. The wait staff was inattentive. I gave it 2 stars because the building and views are pretty, but do not eat here. We left with 6 people unsatisfied. What a waste of money.

Was very excited to return to the Belhurst Castle as we married there 30 years ago. Understanding that the establishment has been under new ownership I did expect some changes. First, the new additions and maintenance of older property is nicely done. However I was very disappointed by the friendliness (lack there of), service of the wait staff and quality of food served at the Stonecutters Tavern. Because of our nostalgia and excitement we told many of the staff of our anniversary with very perfunctory congratulations-some warmth and enthusiasm would have been nice. While we chose to eat in the tavern, we would have liked to look at the restaurant where we had our rehearsal luncheon; we were told to go no further than the carpet entrance. The tavern wait was expected to be 40 minutes. We sat at the bar and were not given a bar list or even saw a bartender before we were called to our table. The food quality ranked with a chain restaurant; for the price and atmosphere one would expect hand cut and breaded Onion rings and fresh fish on a sandwich. Ten dollars a beer seemed extravagant too. And, while we watched a group be treated to a free birthday dessert, no recognition of our accomplishment, even after boring the waitress with our rainy day outdoor wedding story. Not sure we will return for another 30 years.

A nice place to stop for lunch. Lovely dining room, nice view, attentive service, and good food. The reuben was particularly good. I wish they offered wine flights with lunch or at least more local options - but, they do have a good international wine list.

GORGEOUS! Would definitely recommend all of their events. Walking & touring the grounds and gardens. Would recommend a wedding/ party here! Been here many, many times. Always a family favorite! Stopped in for dinner at 7:25 for Edgars, restaurant closing at 8:30, they refused to seat us even though they were still serving and had many tables open. Referred us to their bistro restaurant... Which had a menu that I could not eat due to multiple food allergies. Found this was not unusual as my son and his wife drove up 40 miles to celebrate their anniversary, they arrived even earlier and got the same treatment. Tried the bistro, ordered a cheese board for $13.95, said it was puny, the quality of generic grocery store cheese and the drinks expensive. After $44.00 for drinks and cheese, they left for dinner at another restaurant down the road. Very disappointing, we used to love Belhurst for celebrations, one son got married there and it used to be our go to for birthdays, anniversaries and when we wanted a special meal. No more.

Visited this winery while in the area. We had a selection of a few different wines (port AND ice wine!), Thought it was good enough to buy a few bottles despite having enough at home. Neptune gets a distinction for being the first Chardonnay that j liked instead of tolerated. We had a nice dinner at Stone Cutters and wandered around briefly after. It's a beautiful property and I wish we would have had more time to enjoy.

Stonecutters is a favorite. We are never disappointed with the service, atmosphere or the menu, which changes periodically. A bonus is the ability to order off the Edgar's menu when the pub fare is not your preference.

Upon my arrival on Friday, September 11th, my group of six Was not even greeted or asked if we had a reservation for 10 minutes. Upon getting seated at our table we waited another 10 minutes for a waitress to bring menu and take drink order. The food for each of my guests was delicious, however our table was not cleared after appetizers and remained on table the entire meal. When we asked for our checks we had to wait another 10 minutes to get the checks. Request for several items, lemon for water and sauce for rice were never received. Dining experience was poor, food was excellent.

The Castle is really nice, lovely, with great detail. The room, The Butler, was a good size, but quite plain. I would stay in another room next time. There was a smell in the lobby that pervaded the first floor by the end of the weekend. Everyone was really really nice, and management went a long way to accommodate the concerns we brought up. DONT try to put someone on the pull out sofa. I really really recommend Belhurst, especially once we all re-open.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for an extended weekend in the Carriage house. Although the grounds were beautiful we had some concerns with our stay. We walked into the house and there were dead bugs all over the ceiling and in the bathroom. There were; Spiders, moths, bees and wasps in the room throughout our stay. The room also would get really warm at night because even though we had the AC unit on, we had to close the curtains otherwise people could see right into our room since they didn t have blinds on any of the windows. When we wanted to sit outside the carriage house we couldn t because there was only 1 chair at the table, when they knew there were two people staying in the room. Lastly, the interaction I had with the dining room manager of Stonecutters and whoever gave us our tasting on Saturday. They were both very rude and impatient, they seemed like they just wanted us to go away. The dining room manager was rude again to my girlfriends father when we tried to get a table for her birthday. For as much money as we paid to stay here, we expected a higher quality experience.

We drove one hour 17 minutes to go to happy hour and wine tasting. There was a 90 minute wait for both PLUS gift store was too crowded to enter. No tours of castle. Couldn't sit at bar even though it was 1/5 full. Rude staff.

This was my second terrible experience at the Castle. The first was so bad they refunded my money for a party of three. This time around it was Thanksgiving Day and like (most?) restaurants open on a holiday they were out to make a fast buck without caring much what they served. Per usual, items were overpriced and nowhere near worth the charge. So once fooled, yes, shame on them, but twice fooled, shame on me. I will never step foot in the place again.

Absolutely terrible! Waitress reeked like cigarettes, never cleared our table (dishes stacked so high and so much we couldn't enjoy our meal), was rude and intrusive during personal moments (only time the waitress paid us any attention is when we absolutely didnt want her around, husband opening birthday gifts). It was close to impossible to get refills. When we complained to management we got totally blown off paid; around $300 for 11 people for breakfast and will never go back.

Went to Belhurst for their Thanksgiving Day menu. They had about 4-5 options for the dinner menu and we're working with a limited regular menu. Food is always good and the rooms are great. Some of the outside rooms can be a bit chilly though. On the plus side they do have a gluten free menu that is safe for those with Celiac's.

In my opinion this place was way over priced for the amenities given. We stayed in the original castle and the old charm was appealing at first. We then checked into Dwyers suit at a tone of $500 per night! Room was not fully cleaned and I tried to keep an open mind that it was a "historic room" but still could not help but pick out many things that could have been upgraded without loosening that historic appeal. Like a shower curtain that doesn't have black mold on it!
We came here for our 15 year anniversary and went to Edgar's Restaurant and let's say the soup was good. We both went with the Pre-fix 5 course menu. Bread was under cooked, soup was good sald was plain even for salad(Cesar) then the main course was crab stuffed fish and both of ours cam our partly frozen and raw!
They only offered to make new and a free round of drinks. No idea had the desert was as we both lost our appetites. I could go on but I'm sure you get the point. In conclusion I feel they are over price for what you get and .ost of the staff is under trained and not nice enough in my opinion.
Oh and I would t even bring up the free breakfast. We are very practical people that work hard and wanted to treat ourselves and feel very let down.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here. Darlene was amazing to work with! They allowed us to visit and meet with them, and we're always professional and responsive through email. It was super easy to create a custom menu for our event. We were even allowed to use the space to rehearse for our wedding the next day! We felt like royalty being served, and our family and friends raved about the food selection and alcohol selection. We will definitely be coming back!

We went there for a wedding this past weekend. We were extremely disappointed. The website shows all these beautiful rooms, ours was just like any other hotel room. Nothing fancy for special about it, other than the price. Way over priced. The walls were never finished being painted. The cleaning of the room could use a lot of upgrading. The television screen was smudged and filthy. Every picture in the room had quite a bit of dust on the top of them. The sink had a crack in it. There was only 1 wash cloth. The Bride was told that the bar would be open until 1am, as we were sitting outside next to the fire pit, the bar closed at 11pm. There was a drone flying around outside taking video of us, that was very disturbing. Just overall not impressed.

We booked the "icehouse" for 8/10~8/11/20202.....My issues are as follows...
1. For a room that you are paying $230 a night for and they have disabled the stove and after calling the front desk they refuse to provide a microwave??? The burners are removed from the stove so you cant use that either.

2. No wifi coverage for the cottage that is less than 300 feet from the mainhouse...

3. The bathroom sink drain was broken(which I fixed)....

4. No coffee mugs, no utensils whatsoever in a cottage that is equipped with a full kitchen.

Very poor conditions for what is touted as a high class facility.

NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL......WE ARE GOING ELSEWHERE!

My 2 friends and I went to the spa to treat ourselves. 2 of us had facials and the other had a spa pedicure. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed in our treatments, as they were subpar, basic, and very expensive. The staff were very nice, but for the prices that they charged, the experience was very disappointing.

Very friendly staff. Nice accommodations - not the most modern, up to date decor or amenities (outlets, usbs, TVs or channels) but relaxing hot tub, large room, two person shower, all the things we really wanted to just relax for a few days! Very tasty, balanced wines, as well!

Was there to talk to Carmen about a wedding and did a tasting with Chrissie in the tasting room. Carmen is a ball of energy, so organized, so thorough and so sweet. Chrissie was very knowledgeable and warm. Even if we don't have our wedding at the castle we will be going back for a holiday.

I attended a wedding at The Belhurst and, WOW, how picturesque for such a joyous occasion! As expected, the facility was absolutely gorgeous...once I found the entrance. I felt that the sign, large as it is, was difficult to read. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the service provided was great. The food, however, left something to be desired. It was okay but not as great as I was expecting. In addition, there was a problem with the amount of food. Several people had little or nothing to eat; I don't know the particulars so I cannot say if it was an error committed by the facility or an issue with the guests that attended. The Belhurst tried to make up for it by exrending the time for open bar. Overall, I was pleased. I will not hesitate to attend another event there regardless of my experience.
