Belhurst Castle is beautiful. The servers were so nice and helpful. The food was delicious and it's a great atmosphere to enjoy drinks.
Went for the wine tasting. Staff was not friendly and did not have a good attitude. Felt like they were rushing us out and seemed inconvenienced every time we asked a question. Wine was tasty, but service was really poor.
Attended a training for work and very impressed by the accommodations! Beautiful location!
Belhurst was the first stop in my winery day and I was worried that I wouldn t be able to sit down for a tasting without reservations (believe they don t take any). We were seated right away and was able to have wine in our hands in a matter of minutes. The tasting guide wasn t too helpful and pretty much rushed through the tasting. The wines were good but definitely wish I had more time to grab a bottle and sip outside because the scenery of this place is so quaint and beautiful. I honestly would have preferred to buy a bottle and do my own thing rather than participating in the tasting. It was a nice tasting but I appreciated the aesthetics of this winery more than the tasting.
The pub (stonecutter s) is a great, less expensive alternative to the main dining hall. Surprisingly lovely red wines!
The place itself is gorgeous and the wine tasting is very good. However, the accommodations in the castle are deplorable. Cracked windows, wires hanging loosely on the ground, TV sets from the 1950s. Management hasn't even attempted to make even the most basic updates to the property. The only thing worse than the rooms themselves, is the lodging manager. Arrogant, condescending, apathetic...an overall terrible person. Dont stay here!
The brunch buffets was incredible. The scenery was amazing!
Excellent wines!! Gorgeous hotel, phenomenal grounds and great views!!
What a beautiful place! The food was delicious & the service very good! I enjoyed my visit very much!
Absolutely beautiful here. Scenery is gorgeous and peaceful. Hotel and castle could use some updates. We had the brunch buffet here and it was amazing!! They had so much to choose from and everything was delicious!
Beautiful facility. We stayed here last year and loved everything. This year not so much. Staff not very friendly. Breakfast buffet is poor. Really pathetic for the $$$$ you re paying to stay here. Pub experience not good either. Sandwich was burnt. We noticed food lying on the floor. Overall not good experience.
Alyssa, Catie and Dustin all awesome staff. Great wine and the porter came home with me. Love this place will be back
Terrible experience. The hotel is very nice.. however the room that I was given was 3 miles away!! No shuttle was available and I could not drive, the manager refused to change our room. Customers deserve to know where they will sleep when they book a room.
Stopped by for a group wine tasting. Accommodated us well. Very pleasant experience.
Beautiful place! Went for a wine tour had a great time!
We were there on a wine tour. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was friendly.
Arrived for a wedding in the fall. Beautiful scenery and a wonderful time save for some of the flies buzzing out there. The staff was attentive and swift. My only complaint would be that the price to rent out the spot for the wedding prevented her from going on a honeymoon. You do get what you pay for. And then some.
very very nice place to grab drinks and talk with friends or go on a nice date.
While unfortunately they do not allow pets on premise we had the chance to go for a wonderful tasting. The castle itself is great and the view is amazing.
We were having a meal tasting for our upcoming wedding at Belhurst. Carmen, the event coordinator, is beyond words amazing.
Went here with high hopes and was extremely disappointed. The only good thing about this place is the view of the lake. The staff was very unhelpful, not friendly, and the wine was overpriced and awful.
This place is a 10 !!! It was the start of our long weekend and both ladies gave us such a great massage then we did the winery. Molly gave me my massage and she was excellent ! Thank you for making me feel better. Chrissy at the winery suggested other great places to visit and really took her time with us to explain all the wines. If anyone is visiting Geneva this shop be your first stop
This review is based on my first visit experience yesterday morning.
I was super excited to finally get to go for breakfast while I was visiting the area. My husband and I walked in aboviously lost and were not greeted by the staff at the front desk. We walked through the castle looking for a restaurant and came to an end that had a hostess table but no hostess available. Qh walked up the stairs and saw several waiters and no one stopped and asked us if they could help. Again we aboviously looked lost. I heard my husband day "I think she's the hostess" as she literally walked past us. My husband followed her back to the front entrance and she looked like she was taken aback that we were there.
After we were the waiter asked I'd we would like coffee or juice and brought the coffee right away away and took our order. We waited a long time 30 min for our meal. I heard one of the waitresses explaining to her table that the kitchen was preparing the brunch and that's why it's slow.?? We ordered French toast and pancakes and when I bit into my French Toast it was cold and my husband's pancakes were extremely hot.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT
I was so disappointed!
We had a great wine tasting with Chrissy, who was cheerful and knowledgeable about the wines. I especially liked their sparkling varieties.
Went to dinner for our 1 week anniversary. Food was good. They have an incredible wine list. Favorite part is that they have a dock. What a fun canal trip!
Beautiful location and staff so kind and helpful! Lovely place to visit!
After hearing so many good things about Belhurst, we had to visit. We were hoping to have lunch at Edgar's but it only opened at 5. Still, the artichoke dip and falafel naan sandwich at Stonecutters was a more than adequate consolidation. It has an elegant, understated decor while affording a spectacular view of the lake. Lunch over, we headed for the wine tasting. The staff were friendly and made the experience a relaxed, exploration of their amazing wine and beer selection. The iced wine was especially good. We left with a few bottles. A great way to spends a couple of hours.
I was there for a wedding. Its an absolutely gorgeous venue. The staff was wrll trained and very polite. The appetizers were good, but the entrees were nothing to write home about.
Lackluster accommodations for this price point. For over $250 per night I was expecting a much nicer experience. The building and grounds are very nice but the rooms are dated and uncomfortable. The bed in our "suite" had to be 20 years old and was just downright unpleasant to sleep in. The whole room had the feeling of a Holiday Inn from the 1980s. This will be my first and last time visiting the Belhurst.
Great atmosphere and view. They have an odd system of wine tasting, bar and food, where you can't bring items purchased at one to another. This was very strange and confusing.
Awesome place to stay. Bit pricey but worth it. Amazing lake view from most of the rooms. Dining options are good but limited.
Dinner and wine pairing event was phenomenal. Will return soon!
To us, the wines were so-so. A little too dry for our tastes.
It looked cool so I went in it. I loved it it's a good zoo.
We got married at Belhurst in 2010 and keep going back for the brunch. It's seriously the best brunch ever. So many different foods and all of them excellent. Plus mimosas and Bloody Marys are included.
The dining experience was great. The waitress was quick and attentive. The food was fantastic and a good portion for the price.
The staff was excellent, very attentive and helpful.
Went to the winery and Stonecutter's restaurant. Very nice, friendly service, good food and drink.
ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Great food & even better wine. Attended a wedding and it couldnt have been better.
Beautiful resort. Great food, awesome accommodations. Love the wine!
It's Beautiful
Celebrated my 60th B-day There.

I've been going to belhurst castle for 12 years. This past weekend on Saturday October 6th. 2018. My prince charming and I got married.. it was absolutely everything we wanted and more. The weather was perfect. We had our ceremony outside ,and our dinner in the beautiful solarium. . Darlene was magnificent as she help me plan the big day, from 6 hours away.. everything was done by emails, phone calls, and texts messages. The food was great, and the guest loved the venue. Matt was just as helpful as darlene . They both made sure everything was perfect. Even other guest we didn't know loved our ceremony and my arrival to the castle. We absolutely couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. thanks to everyone at belhurst. . Sherry and Rich Erickson.
Went here for a wedding, great food and a beautiful lawn and look over the lake.
My daughter got married there in July, 2017. We cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire staff. They were flexible, kind, extremely accommodating and professional. Carmen, the coordinator, made sure that every detail was attended to. The food was very good as well. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and we are thrilled that we chose to have the wedding at this amazing and unique place. We are extremely grateful and everyone had a great time.
Rooms are clean and spacious. Service seems to be hit or miss. For a "castle" they don't exactly give you a royal welcome and you fend for yourself. Attending a wedding here and how some things were handled left me scratching my head
Attended for a wedding. Absolutely gorgeous waterfront view and delicious food!
Beautiful building very nice employees and good parking
Great view and stay. Would be great to have a pool over looking the lake.
Belhurst has stunning grounds with the most amazing view of Seneca Lake. I can't wait until my fiance and I get married here!
too hard to get in and not enough tasting seating. not a good rating in my book
Responding to your response...
I get that regulations have changed, but this was the only place that we were unable to get into. everyone else was able to get us in within 15 min or less, and they were just as busy. Maybe take tasting outside? Oh and your staff wasn't the friendliest either.
Came here with my husband for our honeymoon. We were originally going to stay at White Springs Manor, but upon check-in asked the front desk if they had any room at Belhurst which they did. We got a room in the Inn, and couldn t be more pleased. Everything from the cleanliness, to the jacuzzi and fireplace in the room was amazing. The staff at the front desk were great, they greet you each and every time you walk by and made some amazing recommendations on things to do in the area. We also ate at Stonecutters and the food was great. We will most definitely return for another stay!!
Just did a wine tasting and had a beverage at stone cutters. Great place, will be back!
I attended 2 weddings at the Castle. Both were very nice. The food and service was very good,
Had dinner at Edgar's in the castle. Food was excellent. NY strip steak came perfectly medium rare. Exactly as ordered. The house wine was surprisingly potent. Waitstaff were polite and efficient.
Absolutely gorgeous I was at a wedding and everything was perfect the scenery the meal the waiters. The only criticism I have was at the end of the night the staff was a little rude because they were trying to clean up. After this we went to the bar and my friends missed the last shuttle for the night to the hotel and they actually sent another to come pick everyone up I thought that was very nice. Absolutely stunning the perfect day.
Stopped in with a group of visitors from out of town and thought the scenery was beautiful. We sat at their outdoor patio and were treated poorly. Chastised for pulling chairs around a large table and then never received any service. We left saying we would not return. What a shame.
I've stayed at Belhurst multiple times for 30 years. I was disappointed on this occasion, so the two star rating is relative to what Belhurst used to be.
In January, I made reservations for March. When making payment to reserve a room, you must agree to their Terms and Conditions. If you actually read it, you'll discover the shameful addition of a 10 dollar "resort fee" for WiFi, access to restaurants, landscaping, and parking. (On the booking page, the Contact box says "free parking.")
On the reservation summary, this previously undisclosed fee is embedded under "Tax". When I clicked on "Tax", I discovered the resort fee is not a tax, but effectively an increase in the room rate. Moreover, the fee jumped from ten to eleven dollars.
A nudge helped open the sticky entrance door to the turret room. As in years past, the room was clean and tastefully decorated. But on this occasion the mattress sagged and the gas fireplace didn't work.
When leaving for dinner, I asked the desk clerk how to adjust the room temperature. He said would check while I was gone. When I returned two hours later, he said "they haven't got back to me yet."
I used to enjoy ordering a full breakfast at Edgars, but now that's available only on weekends. Weekdays have a typical budget motel "continental" breakfast (juice, coffee, cereal, fruit, breads). By comparison, rooms at the new, and much less expensive, Best Western in Hammondsport include a variety of hot breakfast foods.
Be advised there are two Belhurst websites. One is gc_Belhurst_com. As you would expect, it has links to Accommodations, Dining, Winery, Spa, etc. But there are no room rates, availability, or reservations links. Just a phone number to call to find out more. And the links to restaurant menus don't exist.
There is a second website - Belhurst_com. This is the one you need to get rate information and make reservations.
In summary, Belhurst seems to be losing it's former elegant appeal and service. Cost-cutting, price increases, and inattention to their website(s) lower customer value.
Everything there was delightful and amazing atmosphere. Food was amazing as the wine.
Beautiful views, great wine, great gift shop, cozy, quaint and historical!
A great winery in a beautiful location, right on the lake.
Brunch was awesome, and the restaurant is a very cool place to eat.
Great food fantastic staff, shared knowledge of the area and history of the castle, worth every penny.
Went to the stone cutter for lunch. It ended up being an early dinner. Wait staff took our name and number never called. Wasn t until I said I had been waiting for an hour for my seats. Waitress took forever to get us our food. Little over a 2 and a half hours to get seated and pay the bill. Beyond that food was great
I had my wedding reception at the Belhurst and it was a wonderful experience! Kelly was very accommodating. Since I live overseas and I wanted something to be well planned and beautiful without causing too much stress on my family, I worked with Kelly through e-mail and over the phone to plan everything, while my sister simply handed her the flowers, and everything was beautiful! I was told I wouldn't enjoy my wedding because of all the details that you can easily get caught up in, but thanks to the helpful staff, all of those details were covered! Now I have lovely photos to remember the most special day of my life.
Wonderful wine tasting options, many fantastic wines.
Good service and a great place to watch 4th of July fireworks
The facility is gorgeous. The original Castle is in perfect condition. The additional building that was added serves wonderfully for a large event. The food is cooked to order from appetizers to main course. All meals were excellent. The staff courteous, professional and happy in their care of us. The rooms were nicely updated and still kept with the authenticity of the castle. The price was definitely on the high end. And they gave us our money's worth in quality , Style , details, and good care. The view of Seneca Lake from the grounds is lovely. Even internet worked well. The following Day brunch was equally delicious as the food the night before.
So belhurst is a hotel and restaurant located on the top of Lake Seneca, near the Geneva Waterloo area. My friends and I I'm sure that we will get lunch there since we had search good experiences at the place previously. While this would be a good place for decent attire, I'd say dress or business casual, they do let you in if you're in normal casual wear. So we order our usual meals along with an appetizer of fried pickles, which from Belhurst are one of the best items on the menu alone. I had to say their dessert it's spot-on. If you go there I definitely recommend trying their key lime pie cake. Other than the food it's a great place for weddings, great place for a good view of Lake Seneca.
I have not tried a wine from here that I didn't love. The Pinot Grigio, amazing!
