communication between staff at a low leve..........

Great place. Steep hills so the train ride that used to be there would have been great but apart from that excellent.

Very tiring. Lots of uphill walking to do. Zoo clearly needs money invested in it to bring it up to date.

This was our first visit and if we come to Ireland again we would come again. The staff were lovely, friendly and genuine. The guy who served us at the entrance lent us an umbrella because it was raining, the keepers looking after the animals as well as they deserve. Great value for money and well recommended. However, I have rated 4 stars purely due to one major fault which annoyed us both and that's the lion enclosure. They have nothing in there apart from a wooden cabin, a tree and a pond. We didn't see any toys and would be great if the zoo could provide them a climbing platform, some toys. We had a great day here and would recommend.

Better conditions for the animals now than it use to be

It is a hilly, rich vegetation with a beautiful zoo. Squirrels run for free.

It's one big hill.... Not suitable for kids or prams.....

It's LESS THAN 2 WEEKS since the Red Panda escaped!
I hope somebody has a comprehensive list of the negligence at this zoo.

3 giraffes died here last year. Baby one strangled in it's feeding basket.
Monkey escaped and knocked down and fatally injured.

2013-2015 NINE macaques escaped from it.
In 2015 one of the monkeys got out just weeks after two others.. And in 2013 six got loose after scaling an electric fence.
Took 2 weeks to get one of thrm back.

Interesting Zoo where they are obviously doing many renovations at the moment. There should be more information about the steepness of the paths and some form of transport provided on a daily basis for those less able than others to walk. The restaurants and coffee houses are in need of up grading and a more varied menu provided and more staff.

Plenty to see only draw back is a hike up the side of a steep mountain unless that's your thing.

Excellent family day out just make sure and wear comfortable shoes

Fantastic day out for adulys and kids. Each animal is explained in detail from where they come from, what they eat etc. Toilets, picinic areas & a brilliant park & eateries.
Staff are fantastic & willing to help & answer questions.

It's lovely, children and adults would love the place. There's all sorts of animals and better still it doesnt feel like a zoo because it's so big

Great place to see a big range of animals. Disappointing tho when there is no animals to see in some exhibits.

Really good conservation zoo. Plenty of diverse animals to see and the enclosure environments seemed to designed to help stimulate the animals. The are plenty of places to view the animals and lots of clear panels for the smaller children to see. It is located on the side of Cave Hill so there is a lot of going uphill so plan your visit accordingly. There are also plenty of places to stop and sit and there are a few places to eat also.

Could do with a lot of updating. Kids Park is great but a lot could be done to incloseurs to help visitors see more of the animals

Extremely friendly and approachable staff all throughout the zoo. Loved the rescue elephants. Highly recommended.

Best zoo in Belfast , the lions came up to the fence and bayed at us

a lot of cool animals, a whole lot of walking and a little bit of getting lost,just the right amount of benches and restrooms around to avoid (most) whining from any little ones you may bring along with you

One of Northern Irelands best tourist attractions and new attractions are being added all the time. Great for young and old alike. My son and I are regular visitors.

Great walks in the adjacent Cavehill Country Park but the future of the zoo itself really has to be considered. It remains popular with children but no matter how much money is spent here it will never be a world class zoo.

Omg so well organized but it's a bit of a trek up the hill but I loved the animals.

Place is nice gateway for kids as well as adults.. can see variety of animals but check the availability because in sunny afternoon, you won t be able to get glimpse of most of the animals so plan accordingly

Been a while since we'd visited Belfast zoo and all I can say was it was ok. The first thing was they didn't have the little shuttle bus on and my mother in law has arthritis and finds it painful at times and it was hard going on her, so if you were in a wheelchair you weren't getting up there without a lot of bother. There were a few animals that were supposed to be there but weren't, a lot of the animals looked absolutely miserable. There was a lot of rubbish floating in the bears pool and the penguins(I know they Normally smell a bit) but these were absolutely disgusting. It's a shame they couldn't get some funding to spruce the place up and sort their animals homes out because at the minute it's just not worth the money.

Its only ok. Dublin zoo is 10 times better. U are given an inaccurate map of the zoo when u enter and there is little or no signage as u go around to point u in the direction u want to go.

Steep hill climb, but well worth the visit. Lots of animals to see and brilliant view over Belfast/Antrim. Excellent play park & gift shop to keep everyone happy.

Country is beautiful and we had an amazing time. Just be aware it's all on a hill but right at the top is a beautiful little cafe next to the bears enclosure. We had a wonderful time and got some souvenirs for our son.

Great wee day out with the kids however be prepared for a steep walk and extortionate pricing for food and drinks. Best to pack a picnic.

Great zoo, good selection of animals, friendly and informative staff. only wish there was better information about closed sections, and some help with route planning - maps outside each stop would have helped. also, directions to the nearest toilets/seating area would be useful.

Amazing animals, scenic setting and a great walk for a summer day
