I lived here for almost 4 years in a small studio and it was the best apartment ever. I needed a 1 bdrm and needed to move to a different side of Chicago or else I probably would have never moved. The storage in my small apartment was so good. And the staff is one of the best parts of this place. Every single person who works at this building is so helpful and nice. Also, you can't beat the location. Inside and out -- it is safe and secure and there is little you have to worry about. Parking was never an issue -- they have 1-way valet or you can park your car yourself (which I did and never had an issue except during ZooLights.)

They have a holiday brunch every year which I also really looked forward to. And they often hold events on the roof or in the lobby.

The only downside is it's a little dated -- but that is part of the charm, in my opinion. Some of layouts are a little odd, but again, charm. The building switched management and ownership multiple times. Waterton was the last I experienced and maybe the worst, but still not too horrible. When I was moving out communicate lacked and when I tried to see if a one bedroom was available before I moved out, I never got a call back. None of it was on the Belden staff side (they are super quick and responsive).

I looked around many apartments in Lincoln Park and Lakeview and nothing compared. All are missing something -- parking, a rooftop, central air .. always something I can't give up that the Belden had.

I m a current resident here and could not be happier with my experience! The staff is always friendly, especially the girls at the front desk and the doormen who make it always feel welcoming to come home here.

When I moved to Chicago from the west coast, I needed a temporary apartment for a few months while I looked for a house to buy and waited for my family to be able to join me. I stayed at the Belden Stratford for 6 months and enjoyed every minute of it!

It is a lovely old style building with gracious features and an excellent location. The staff, especially the front desk and doormen, were always cheerful and helpful, and I had a great little room with a full western exposure and lots of light. I loved starting the day every morning by walking out the front door and directly into Lincoln Park to get to my bus stop. Sometimes, if I was able to get home early, I went directly from my bus to the zoo and took a stroll to visit the lions or apes on my way home.

I am moving to our new house, but will miss my apartment on the park!

Lobby is very nice, but rooms and service are lousy. The room resembled that of a motel 6 except worse because the curtains leaked 90% of the light. The master bed was mediocre, but the rollaway beds were unusable. The rollaways were even worse than sleeping on the floor and one rollaway broke in the middle of the night causing my brother to fall through to the ground. We called the front desk and they were useless.

Lastly, the continental breakfast consisted of 1 plate of bagels, 1 of cake and 1 of muffins. When the plate of bagels ran out, they simply said "sorry we don't have any more". By 9:30 there were only 2 pieces of cake left, and nothing else, so I was forced to eat breakfast out. Absurd since breakfast was supposed to run until 11:00

The lobby is nice, but there is no way the lousy rooms and terrible service warrant a 4 star rating

I am currently a resident here and could not be happy with my experience. Seeing that Belden Stratford was formerly a hotel speaks volumes about the atmosphere of the property and staff. From the the leasing office (Jill) to the Front Desk (Norma, Kate, Debbie) the staff creates an atmosphere that makes this property entirely unique for the area. Full disclosure, rent can be higher in this area, however this is common for the Lincoln Park area as a whole. If you are new to the area or simply looking for a unique experience that you cannot find anywhere else, I highly recommend considering this property. The management is always responsive and it will be a home you can be proud to come back to every day.
