A huge crowd of people, only one panda had something to eat there and it was possible to cram it. The rest slept somewhere in the corner. It was very neglected and the runways were dirty and unpleasant.

Not that too impressive. Except for the pandas nothing more wonderful is. You do have bears, lions tigers polar bears, crocodiles name the animal and you would find it in the zoo. Moreover, the zoo is big if you want to visit te entire zoo require an entire day. Also do no go in the summers as it is hot it is difficult to walk. Please prefer a pleasant weather. Very easily accessible via metro. There is a metro station just in front of the zoo. Also, the ticket is for 19 rmb and 9.5 rmb if you are a student. So don't forget to carry your student id card

Big zoo in Beijing, lots of animals have a lot of space and there is a lot of variety. In the zoo there is also a kind of sea world with small and large fish. During my visit there were also 2 white whales in a pool, I would recommend a little more space here. Basically, nature and animals have become very important to the people.

The animals in the zoo are especially complete, and there are white tigers and swan in the lake. You can bring some bread to feed yourself. The garden is quite big. There are many tourists. There is a marine museum, more than 200 tickets. For an additional fee, parking is not good, others are fine.

In desperate need of maintenance. The animals look depressed. Lots of the cages are empty. The cages lack embellishment, they are bare bones. All of the food carts/ eatery's/ stores were closed while we were there. The zoo's one redeming quality were the grounds. The grounds were beautiful. They had lush greenery, a nice lake, a bridge, and swans in the water.

What a fantastic place in the heart of Beijing. There is so much to see in this vast attraction. We only had 1/2 a day to spend here but you could easily spent to whole day exploring the grounds. The zoo has a vast array of areas dedicated to various species of animals. The Pandas are a huge draw and simply great to see. @50whatnow

This zoo is large. Panda enclosures are decent and Pandas are well looked after. However the rest is just awful: Animals in small spaces looking distressed, Giraffe losing some fur, lots of empty enclosures, lack of disabled access inside aquarium area (missed a floor out because of this). Some areas are that empty they have turned it into park land.

I have been twice, last time was 10 years ago and it was much better then. Now it looks underfunded and animals besides Pandas are suffering due to this.

So sad to see the reality of many animals in the world. Everything was sooooo dirty. The polar bears in big glass cages with no ac or at least not cold water. The black bears in middle of the sun with no water to drink. Soooo sad.

To see Panda and crocodiles up close, you can visit the zoo. Great environment, and to see all the places you need at least 4 hours and walk a lot. Take the umbrella with you too. You also need tickets to enter. Blytsh a separate aquarium.

The main reason I gave this place a 2 star rating is because of how the animals are kept. If you love animal's and seeing them looking down makes you sad trust me this is not for you. I do understand why people are happy and that's because they can see the different types of animals. I was happy to get to see the giant panda's but as I walked around the park I began to cry and this was because of how the animals are kept. The kangaroo had no hop left they dragged their feet to get food and some of them even ate their own poop. I stood looking through the glass and just cried and wanted to leave but I had to see the elephants for me that was important. I got to the the place where they kept them, I was broken to see how small the cage is and how they have to life. The other cage was huge but it was empty and they put them in the smaller cages. It was so hurtful but I was amazed how the mother didn't show her baby she was tired and kept playing along with her even though she at times just needed to stop.. The zoo advertisers alot of animals but all of them are not there. They had no hippos, lions, polar bears and flamingos to mention some. Alot were missing and that's a fact but they don't tell you this. The panda's are well kept and very beautiful but like I said if you are an animal lover you will be very said to see the conditions in which they are kept.

Ok, but disappointing. The aquatic center is really a letdown, unless you want to blow money on a lot of junk. The dolphin show was pathetic. If you have ever been to Sea World, or any aquarium in the U.S. you will be severely disappointed. The zoo was on par with many zoos in the US.

Sadly only the pandas have it 'good' in this zoo and the other animals are literally not cared for. Glass screens were so dirty you couldn't see the animals. You pay for the pandas and sadly the others are forgotten about and looking skinny.

Beautiful park, vast, bright, full of nooks and crannies. Most animals look good in their place of life but some others are really painful; the rhinos are piled up, fortunately for them, they spend their time sleeping. There are works everywhere, including a huge lynx incredible and beautiful animal sculptures "bronze" ...

This is a huge zoo. The main attraction ofcourse are the pandas though i found the polar bear also very interesting. There is a shuttle available inside which is a waste. Don't take it.
Its better to walk the entire zoo.
We went in the winters.
A lot of animals are kept indoors due to the cold so not the best time to go.

So sad to see these animals pacing behind bars with cement floors and no attempt to create any semblance of a natural environment. It's a disgrace.
The panda enclosure is the only part that shows any attempt to take care of animal welfare. But it's China, animals aren't a priority.

The animals were well fed and looked healthy, the facility is well set up, but unfortunately the play possibilities of the animals were very limited, which is a shame, because e.g. the polar bear just lay lazily on the floor next to the water and looks rather helpless. The windows of the nocturnal animals were too dirty to even spot them, and unfortunately there are a few attractions that cannot be visited in winter. Nevertheless, I give the zoo 4 stars, because the infrastructure is well done, there is a great variety of species and there is something exciting to see on every corner. All in all it was a great visit that was absolutely worth it!

"Huge green area with few animals though"
The animals are sleeping most of the time due to tranquilizers . I gave it 2 stars because the green scenery is very picturesque and the pandas where cute but very sleepy as well.

The Beijing Zoo is a wonderful stop when visiting the city. It is a massive facility with a wide variety of animals and attractions. One thing you will notice, is the animals look like they are very well taken care of. The lions are for sure wonderful to see, but the polar bears and the monkeys steal the show. The majestic polar bears, at the right time will splash in their pools and put their power on full display. It is a great time and will take up most of your day.

Zoo like a zoo, I avoid a wide berth like circuses and all kinds of Aquaparks with animals. Here, however, the curiosity to see Pandas won.
Pandas, like teddy bears, are charming and wonderful, but the minimalism of the place they have calls for vengeance to heaven! Each separately for a few meters :( next time we plan a trip to the Pand sanctuary in Chengdu and I think that this place will delight me.
And I advise you not to watch any form of animal performances and I recommend looking for real animal sanctuaries :)

Pandas! The rest of the zoo is a basic zoo with the regular stuff: see elephants, pet llamas, American animals etc. But, that really doesn't matter because...pandas! There are at least a dozen of them! Passport may be required for your entrance.

Pandas are sensational. Unfortunately the cages where they are placed are poorly maintained and dirty. Pandas stay for most of the day rolled up. You can only see a little piece of tail or paw. The rest of the zoo is the same as the rest of the world.

The main attraction are the Pandas. Other than that a lot of empty cages, or poorly lit ones where the glass in front of the cage is stained.
The park is nice and quite large. Several entries and exits about 1 KM apart.
Very crowded on weekends.
