I visited mvc bayonne today. Staff is rude specially the short hair black receptionist is a racist and extremely absurd. I am looking for their official website to complaint against her. I went at 10am for my probationary driving license and she refused to give me token by saying you have to show up at 8am. Wtf psycho old lady…

Date: 12/03/2020 Purpose: Driver's License Renewal (couldn't do it online because of visa)
Arrived at 6:30AM; started social distance line-up in front of pizza hut. Bring portable chair and hand warmers (it gets cold quickly)! Probably had ~25 people in front of me. At 7:45AM, they were giving out form to fill and people started to move.
Some people were rejected because they needed to book an online appointment to get certain services. I believe the person in front of me was rejected for out-of-state transfer.
Anyways, at 8:05AM, I entered the building and registered my phone number for them to contact me when it's my turn. You will leave the office immediately after. At 8:15AM, I received SMS to come back. Once inside the office again, you will wait in line for ID check. There were roughly 20 people in front of me. US residents and green card holders have a special priority line (they will ask you after you are in line inside)! I was out with a renewed license by 9:00AM.
Overall, very satisfied with the service. As most of the recent reviews say, they have a team of professional COVID-trained staff running the show. It is as good as it can get during this pandemic era, in my opinion.
I d give this place no star if I could. Asia is an atrocious employee. She is definitely not fit for a customer service job and she should be fired! I will definitely complain about her attitude to the main office in Trenton. In front of many, she said Someone else deal with her because she is getting on my last nerve and kept saying it over and over to herself. Ooh, she got on my last nerve ! Who wouldn t be upset. First off, I didn t renew my license online because my middle initial is wrong. I told her I changed my name due to Marriage and I had my Marriage Certificate and in the Philippines once you get married, when you take your husband s surname, your maiden surname becomes your middle name. She even says my Marriage Certificate doesn t count because it s from abroad. They refused to change it and to make matters worse, she wants to spell the whole wrong middle name out. I m like if I ve renewed online, it would be the same as my old license with a C. It s frustrating enough that I have to have an id with an error on my name then to spell it all out. My SS and my credit cards bear the right L initial. I don t even want to change my debit cards or whatever important documents, because they will follow suit with the wrong name. They won t even just omit the letter C. I don t see why it s so hard to change your name in MVC when it was a breeze with Social Security Office. She s even telling me to correct that with SS. I m like, No they have it right. You have it wrong . It s funny how they think they know better than me on how my name is supposed to be. Why did I even bother to fill out the form only for them to say that s not my name. Ridiculous what married women have to go through to change their name. My sister didn t have this problem with MVC California.
My wife put real id as a requirement in the form for her driver's licence. This was checked at the documents check point. But the lady on the counter said that they could not process real id for the new licence as my wife did not tell that real id was required at the docs check point. Even though she explicitly marked as requested on the form. The lady at the counter would not budge even though all the required docs for a real id were presented. She kept saying nothing could be done. My wife even offered to go back in the line and verbally communicate at the docs checkpoint that real id was required. But she was not allowed to leave the window!! The lady would not give back her documents.
Horrible.. horrible.. horrible.. that s all you can ever say about this dmv location and staffs. Everyone is extremely rude.. specially the lady at reception. She is ignorant and careless. Their only answer to every question is I don t know . Horrible experience. During such bad times(pandemic and extremely cold weather ), after standing in long line, getting such horrible experience and bad attitude from the dmv staffs is the last thing that anyone would wish to see.
Pathetic - One of the worst MVC of NJ.... first of all the staff is very rude, secondly they follow their own rules rather than agency defined. Had appointment for renewal, I already had real Id and they sent me back that I took wrong appointment while that was totally non-sense as renewals appointment scheduling is same for normal & real Id. Secondly as per them they do not take real Id after 2 PM which is listed no where and not true..
My spouse took the same appointment and got this renewal done at other MVC without any hiccup that too after 2 PM and same appointment scheduling...
Came here for a permit application. 9am appointment, got here 15 minutes before as advised and there were no lines. I was done within 20 minutes and DMV team provided good guidance on next steps.
A lot of folks having a bad experience didn t bring the proper 6 point ID (or had electronic copies rather than printed); that s just what I observed but obviously a limited data sample.
Whew ! Managed to get my DL renewed today. Got there at 630. Tickets were given at 730. Mine was 139th and was asked to come at 1045 or after receiving the 2nd text message which says that your turn is about to come. Went home had breakfast. Didn't get the text until 1030 so decided to go to MVC anyway. Had to wait another 30 mins for the text. Once in it took just 10 mins and was a breeze. Make sure you do your homework on the documents and don't expect any help there. Also keep your documents handy as the staff has very little patience and expect super fast reflexes and action from everyone. Worst you might get even yelled at. The guy in front of me forgot his DL in the car and had it from the man who is now famous on these reviews. Though it's understandable given the nature of the job and the kind of questions I heard people asking him. Don't expect spoon feeding here. Again do your homework.
Tip: If you don't mind making multiple trips I would suggest get your sleep and arrive there between 730 and 8am. Get you ticket without much wait unlike the campers and you will be called at 1245pm. If you do not wish to come back then get there at 5-530 and ensure your ticket number is 2 digits preferably on the lower side.
ALSO the MVC is Jersey City has stopped doing DL renewals so had to go to Bayonne. Please check the website of the center you plan to go to ensure the right services are available.
Also social distancing is easy unless you have idiots around you. The only people you will be relatively closer are the folks ahead and behind you while waiting in the line. The MVC office itself will allow very handful of people inside at a time to ensure social distancing and avoid crowding.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Did I say this is a horrible place? Under-staffed, poor service, decrepit facilities.... In this day and age, one would think the experience to manage/process driving privileges could be better designed and developed. Stay away at all costs, unless you have to come for some reason.
This place doesn't do your license or nothing pertaining to it like 6 point Verification or your written test. Please do not waste time standing in the que for a long time during this COVID season. Please go as early as 7 to come out by 9 if you doing your Registrations, Titles and Plates
The associate at the front desk was extremely helpful in giving me the correct instructions for a non-citizen license. They were very courteous and helped others with all sorts of questions. I am pleased that a New Jersey MVC offers such quality of service.
For other non-citizens who have a foreign driver's license like me, you need to make an appointment to get an initial permit (don't book an appointment for an out of state license transfer). You will have to take a knowledge and vision test - there is a possibility of getting the road test waived depending on the type of foreign driver's license you have and which country it's been issued from.
