Great location, beautiful view, good food.
Bad service, waiting staff is way too short staffed. Every waitress was over worked and they looked frustrated. Took us 30 minutes to get a table and 57 minutes to start eating since we ordered. No exaggeration.
Would try again, but if the experience is the same in the beginning, I'm leaving before even getting my food.
This is an excellent excellent place for gluten free options. EVERYTHING has a way it can be made gluten free, even the four desserts.
It s insane.

This place is great! Appetizers are amazing, servers are kind, and it has a great view of the lake. I was sort of disappointed with the Ceaser Salad but the rest of the food was so good that it made up for it. I highly recommend the beef jerky.

Stopped here spur of the moment on the way to Petoskey. Great find. Food was fabulous. I enjoyed sitting near the lake - docks (open air but they had screens so no bugs)

I've been here a few times before, and it's been great. Last night, however, the food was terrible. They changed the Bruschetta style to something that resembles ketchup on toast. The pizza we ordered was just ok. Not a typical Barrel Back experience. On a positive note, bloody marys were great.
Curbside pickup was timely and very polite. Great service.
Service is poor and food mediocre. The only thing this place has is location and not much competition wirh in a few miles. Much better choices in Peroskey or Boyne City. I will not return
This place has a fantastic Cuban sandwich. Their food almost always hits the spot and if it doesn't, the views of Walloon Lake from the dining room will certainly make up for it.
I usually don't eat American food as I prefer ethnic food but Barrel Back does everything right. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, service. Great wine and beer selection and even their homemade craft brew is really good. One of the best restaurant IPAs I've had in quite a while. All the food ingredients are made from scratch and have a great flavor without being overwhelming. If you're gluten free they make pretty much anything gluten free. Just like if you're at home they let you mix foods together to make you dinner. Nothing is cookie cutter here. The decor and ambience are really nice too.

The food is excellent. The servers on the other hand have no words to describe except for... Rude. Impolite, and Disrespectful!!!! The server who was taking care of us was very polite as his name was Kevin. Also the bartender's and waitress that weren't even at our table we're being Disrespectful and we're swearing and talking really inappropriate in front of our children.
If you re looking for barbecue, look elsewhere. The food was overly spicy and struggled to match the flavor or quality of good barbecue. It tastes as though the pit master tried to create a fusion of a few different styles, but ultimately missed the mark on creating barbecue worth coming back for. If you re committed to trying the food the baked beans are great. Other than that I hope you re able find something you like.
Pro s: Great service staff. Our waiter Sam was very attentive and we had no wait for seating. Outdoor seating provided amazing views of the lake and added to the ambiance of the restaurant.
Cons: Smoked wings were undercooked, vegetables were rotten and brown, the ribs were as tough as jerky. We never received the baguette, corn bread, and plugra butter so I can t comment on their quality or taste.
They have a great happy hour! The black bean nachos are yummy. Great atmosphere, definitely worth stopping in for a nice lunch or dinner.

We went in for a birthday dinner. Nice place. There was a lot of hype but it didn't measure up. Our waiter was more interested in talking to the waitresses then working. We had fillets and were largely disappointed. It was basically something to eat and nothing to write home about.
It's very expensive and has good food. Wouldn't go there all the time
I love the open fireplace and the feel of the restaurant. Our ribs were pretty good and my husband had a large portion of brisket. However, the food our children received didn't look very good at all.

Top 5 all around restaurants in the area for oh so many reasons. First and foremost is the location and view is simply amazing! Being right on the water overlooking Walloon Lake is perfect for any meal! Next is the service which so far has met all expectations. Finally the food, which has been exactly made to order each time we've went. Portions are big and the taste is great. All in all it deserves a stop.

During quarantine I got tired of cooking, and out of ideas, but hadn t had wings in a while and they sounded good. They were over the top good, and my 2 year old granddaughter loved the pork sliders and sweet potato fries! Worth every penny, and I am grateful that they were open and I had options. Thanks again, I will be back.

The ambience of the restaurant is truly something out of this world. Love the food and staff.
The service is awesome. We sat at the bar and the way those bartenders are always aware of who needs what and they seem to know their customers.
My sandwich was dry, and I was not overly impressed, however the rest of the family enjoyed their meal. I gave it four stars because the wait staff was very helpful with my son's dairy allergy.
Great atmosphere and beautiful view of the lake. The 12$ mimosa - not worth it. The pappardelle alferdo was an amazing, creamy and buttery bliss. The perch sandwich was alright. When choosing seating, pick the outer-most room with the fireplace and view of the lake.

One of our favorite restaurants in northern Michigan! Food is always consistent. Wings are the some of the best I have ever had. Staff is super friendly and the view looking over Walloon Lake is probably one of the best you will see anywhere throughout northern Michigan.
We have been going to BB since it opened. The beer is good as well as good selection of wines. Food was somewhat overpriced when we started to go there. But, the portions are getting smaller and more expensive. Put in a response card w/ my email and received no response.
