Been going to this place for decades, but having visited since the refurbishment I dont think I will be returning. The decor was too modern for my liking. The appeal of this restaurant has always been its cozy, intimate, bistro atmosphere which I feel has now been totally lost. I didnt enjoy the loud, live music either. I couldnt hold a conversation with my dinner partner without shouting. It was like being in a pub or bar. Portion size appears to have shrunk, but the prices are high, our meal certainly wasnt worth the money. The car park at the rear is no more either. Sorry Barola but you have just lost one of your long standing customers.

Eaten in here many of times and always a wonderful experience. This time I decided to try out the delivery option and wasn't sure what to expect. Was absolutely lovely. When ordering on just eat I was told it would be an hour until my food was here, it came after 20 minutes! The food was hot and looked and tasted amazing! Definitely be getting delivery again!

The restaurant has been fully refurbish, look very nice. I like the new menu as in the past it was mostly pasta and pizza now, they have a fish and meat menu. I had a sea bass and it was serve to perfection. I was just disapointed with the tiramisu as it was made out of cream, couldn't taste the mascarpone so I wouldn't order that one again but they have a great range of homemade gateway.

LOVELY quality food! Only concern I have is that my friend was asked to sit next to me instead of opposite me (?!!!) Guess it is "social distancing rules" but regularly see my friend and concerned that other customers were able to sit opposite each other. I wasn't asked if we wanted to sit next to each other but told to!! This made it uncomfortable for us both having preferred to sit opposite. Would have given 5 stars if not for this issue with no explanation! Food was also pricey and my friend and I would not come again.

Went to borolos today for lunch with my girlfriend and the food was amazing. The garlic bread was the best I've had in any Italian and the carbonara and Arrabbiata were really tasty (and not skimpy on portions!) all of the food that came out of the kitchen looked incredible too. The waiting staff were really attentive and friendly and very generous with their parmasan cheese too which was a big plus for my girlfriend! Will definitely be returning and this will now be our go to choice for Italian in Bournemouth. Food wasn't expensive either- especially for the quality and they do takeaway. Massive 5* for food and staff. My girlfriend was also given a free kinder egg after our meal which was lovely

The restaurant looks great after the refurbishment. I particularly like the booths which are great for families. The staff were very attentive and quick to clear up two spillages at our table with no fuss. My only complaint would be that one of our 6 meals was inedible due to the sheer amount of pesto sauce. It was so rich that my niece couldn't eat it. We were told that was the way dish was supposed to be cooked and we were offered a replacement pasta dish. All in all a good experience and the children enjoyed their courtesy kinder eggs.

Great menu, efficient service with a smile and humour. Above all great food. Very clean modernised, recently refurished surroundings with some ideal subtle background music. Look forward to going bsck very soon. Thanks to all at Barolo for an ideal birthday meal experience.

I have been to Barolo over the years and yes it did need a make over but was always very traditional and had charm. I feel this has been lost. It s nicely opened up more modern but has all different areas now as if it cannot make up its mind what type of restaurant it is. I m afraid the food was not brilliant. They are stingy on ingredients. I had the archichoke starter and was disappointed it was cut up into tiny pieces and overrun in sauce and cheese I couldn t taste it or get any texture. The sauce looked like it was thrown over all the other starters on our group too. The main meal I had my favourite clams and spaghetti and there was hardly any flavour from the clams which were so very small. And it usually has the most Magnificent flavour. Very disappointing. Totally overpriced as well. Sorry but I don t think I will be going again.

I think it must have been 10 years since I went here last.

Why did I not go back sooner?!

The service was very good with friendly staff who were willing to help and had a smile on their face.

The food was brought out quickly and was nice and tasty. Not the best Italian meal I have had but most certainly amongst the better ones and none of the 4 people in my party could fault it.

Went on a Sunday evening on a bank holiday weekend so it was not really busy but it was not quiet, there was a nice atmosphere including the lively background music.

The prices of the meals were reasonable too.

I will most certainly be going back.

Have been here a few times in the last couple of years and love the food and service here. I visited after the refurbishment and love the decor. However, there was about 3/4 tables eating and about 8 staff. I understand it was probably overstaffed as ready for a busy evening (we were eating early about 6) but it meant the staff were constantly asking if our food was okay. During our time here, we were asked if we wanted to order 4 times and if our food was okay about 7 times and if we wanted dessert a further 3 times. It was quite off putting and we felt we were being watched. I understand that the staff were being attentive but in the future during quiet times perhaps staff could communicate with who's been served/asked if there food is okay so it doesn't happen continuously.

Delicious pasta dishes and attentive service from professional and polite staff. A bit loud when busy due to Christmas parties but lovely lights and atmosphere for a cosy, authentic Italian meal with friends.

Not sure what all the hype is about... slow, careless service, below average food - over cooked and, judging by the Lasagna that we had to return as inedible, microwaved! Poor vegan selection and, while there were a number of 'rice dishes' - not a single risotto!

I know it's popular, and had a rave review in the Bournemouth Echo, (mind you, are they ever less than complementary?), but this was an extremely disappointing dining experience for us - we won't be returning.
1 star because, despite it all, it was quite a nice atmosphere.

Amazing Italian food. I cannot comment on the pizza (never tried) but fish is top quality!
Portions are still above the average despite the "50% off" Mon-Wed.
Staff is extremely kind. Looking forward to my next dinner there!

Amazingly good food. Very friendly staff. The seafood, salads, pasta and desserts were all stellar. They've a good wine list as well and know how to properly serve a bottle.
Very highly recommended.

Very nice welcoming staff, great food, and fantastic atmosphere. (Only thing I didn't like was how much the staff hovered around it was nice in a way as they would clean away your stuff but at the same time maybe a little bit too much)

Horrible decor and the bouncy latin music; with all the chatter the combination made it feel like I was in a club. Pizza was small and dough was hard and chewy. The prices are shockingly pricey. 27quid for a fillet steak. Come off it! Not even Italian run. Shame, will not recommend it.

We have been going to Barolos for 20 years and the refurb has unfortunately totally transformed it from a warm and charming place to a clinical and unfriendly place. Sadly the food was not as great as it used to be and the prices have risen that bit too high. We left feeling that we would be unlikely to return and were left mourning the wonderful restaurant where we had so many special occasions, our first date, our engagement party, anniversaries etc are all now memories. Sadly the refurb is a step too far from what it used to be for us.
