He is simply a Tourist and the purpose of "Tourism". The embassy has very serious security requirements, so they prohibit the transport of ANY electronic devices. Those. you will not be allowed to carry not only a laptop or phone, but even a watch or car keys. For all this, there is a luggage room right at the entrance. But:
1. This is not the cheapest pleasure
2. The left-luggage office is not related to the embassy, and it does not bear any responsibility for the things left.
We arrived, leaving everything forbidden at the hotel. Passed without problems, but at the exit we ran into another problem. HOW TO CALL A TAXI WITHOUT A PHONE? They addressed this question to the guard - he shrugged and did not offer any help, they say it's not my business. There is no taxi rank near the embassy. We had to walk on foot before we managed to find a car.
In a word, all this is not very convenient. And the attitude "you need it, you and solve your problems yourself" left an unpleasant aftertaste.
Inside, by the way, the staff was also not polite. But it works quickly and smoothly. That's what - what, and there are no complaints about this.

The entire interview process takes 30 minutes. A vivid example is that bureaucracy can be effective.

It took 40 minutes from entry to exit

After reading so many negative reviews, I was prepared for the worst. In reality, they are smiling employees, everything is well organized and fast. UPD: a year later I had to go to the embassy again to reissue my visa. I changed my name, my old passport with a valid American visa was pierced and I had to make a new one. I found out by chance, 2 weeks before my trip to the USA, when I called the embassy to double-check whether they would let me through with a leaky visa I panicked terribly that I would not have time, but everything went at the highest level. The re-issue took 4 days, along with payment and sending of documents, even faster than they promised. I can see why this embassy has poor reviews from people who use the immigration and visa services. They are incredibly overwhelmed and there are so many people throughout the day. I spent three hours here getting various services done for citizens. Everyone there is very courteous and efficient. I do recommend not making your appointment for first thing in the morning because it is an absolute nightmare to wade through the people who are there for visas and immigration. It looks like a line to get it but everyone waits for their times to be called however, it is really disorganized and you need to ask people around you and push your way through a bit. When I left at around 10:00am there was no line so I think this is a more convenient time. There are also no cellphones or bags of any kind allowed in the embassy there and there are places across the street you may pay for. I received my passport 13 days after submitting my application and this included delivery to another city. After dealing with the embassy in Moscow I am ver pleased with my experience here.

Contacted this Embassy after a mugging in Kyiv. Sustained three skull fractures, a hemmorrhage , two intra cranial hematomas, and did a police report.

Well, at the end, the most outrageous situation for me was when the interviewer addressed me, as expected, in Russian, I answered him in Ukrainian (hoping that he would switch to Ukrainian too), and he began to speak to me in english. Therefore, I concluded that this employee not only cannot speak, but does not even understand Ukrainian! If it weren't for the signs duplicated in Ukrainian at the embassy, I would think that this is the US embassy in Russia, not in Ukraine.

Dear representatives of the embassy, do not discriminate against Ukrainians on the basis of language! We have the right to service in the state language. Therefore, please recruit staff who speak Ukrainian and will address all applicants in Ukrainian as a matter of priority! Thanks.

I think queue may be organized better, and not sure if there are any difference between those who came in appointed time and those who arrive late - all end up with first come first served principle. But overall experience is good.

The only plus is fast service, good guys at security. I applied for B1/B2 visa. I didn t get it but it s ok. The officer I was talking to was a mulatto girl, unfriendly one and irritated, she hardly spoke and understood Russian, was constantly distracted by her colleagues. This was the first time when I totally couldn t understand an American. I know English pretty well, but I wanted to have an interview in Russian, and I sympathize with applicants who don t know English and meet officers like that one

I was there in 2012 to get a document notarized. The process was straight forward and I was done in about an hour. This embassy has long lines of people, but as an American if you make an appointment online you can just stop by the security guard.

Fast and quality service. Friendly staff. Opposite the embassy there are private storage rooms where you can leave your belongings for 40 UAH. The whole process of applying for a non-immigrant visa took up to 30 minutes.

My wife and I were denied a visa, they did not speak much, they asked the purpose of the trip. We replied that we want to have a baby there. They asked where we work and what we do. Our answers did not diverge much, I said that we were working in the same company (they arranged it to pay maternity payments), and she said that she finished working last summer, and this was an official job in labor. After the wife worked on the contract. Apparently the visa officer is confused and she immediately paper refusal handed. He returned the passports and told us there are people waiting for their turn. Pretty rude. Without even giving the reason. And I decorated two jobs, but I work on one, and the second number. Offices in different cities. You must clearly answer where you work, what you do, from what date you work there.

We had an early appointment and it went very smoothly. After a twenty minute wait, my fiancee was sceen. The Ukrainian lady that helped After her was very kind and helped her sort her documents. We received little help on this topic from the embassy with lots of misinformation.
This is the law covering Dual citizenship (Ukrainian + another passport) that many are misinterpreting. It is not outlawed and it is not against the Ukrainian constitution as many would like you to believe.


The law doesn t penalize or forbid you from having Dual citizenship, it simply doesn t recognize two, and this is the same exact rule in most of the world including the USA. If your Chinese and American living in the USA you are recognized as an American. No different than Ukraine's constitution.

Don t let anyone mislead you and tell you that you must relinquish your Ukrainian citizenship or that you are breaking the law for having two. No such thing and this embassy needs to clarify this for its US dual citizens avoiding a daily headache on the topic and protecting American Ukrainian Citizens from any misleading information or leaving them at the mercy of the Ukrainian lawyers who want $200 an hour to tell you its not against the law.

"In addition, individuals who do not relinquish their Ukrainian citizenship upon acquiring U.S. citizenship face potential fines"

FALSE the above is 100% FALSE and possibly written by a Ukrainian/ American who themselves are not understanding the law or the status adding more confusion by giving false information.

A bill imposing a fine was tried two times and did not pass or retracted. Making the above statement unwarranted and completely FALSE.

This embassy is hurting its US citizens by providing wrong information on their site. And by allowing border patrol to harass US citizens against their own constitution that are based on rumors not laws. The law is clear on dual citizenship, if you are Ukrainian with a US citizen you are recognized as a Ukrainian only.

"Does not recognize" is being confused on a daily basis with being outlawed or illegal. This debacle should stop and this embassy should not be advising its citizens to seek legal advise on this issue which makes them more vulnerable dealing with some shady law firms. There is no legal advise on the matter as there is no law being broken. You are eager to put wrong information on your website such as you must relinquish your Ukrainian citizenship but you wont post the correct article regarding the matter, not only to help your dual citizens but also as a symbol to anyone attempting to harass US Ukrainian citizens crossing or traveling.
