Came here for an after dinner coffee and was pleasantly surprised. It's absolutely super cosy inside, and with the rain falling outside and chill music, I could have stayed for hours just hanging out, as I'm sure a lot of people do.
Good place but bummed that they say they close at 12 but often close at 11. You drive out there to get a coffee and work but they kick you out.
Yes! We loved this place! Don't be fooled by the coffee shop name. This place has a bar as well as a bomb dessert menu. Of course the coffee is some of the best in all of Detroit. Plenty of seating and great location
Cute little coffee shop in uptown Detroit. Wish they had more food options, but the coffee was second to none. They has a diverse selection of drinks.
Loved it! A Detroit treasure! Delicious, friendly, and decor of outstanding character.
The best beans around got the Michigan cherry was amazing staff was knowledgeable and store was very clean
A great place to chill, listen to some cool music and enjoy the great coffee.
Very nice surprise in Detroit. Their coffee is pretty good and their selection of drinks is too. I really like the vibe there.
Love the food & drinks. I have never had anything i did not like. Along with the Great service
Best coffee around. Great place. Super chill spot with great coffee, great beer selection, and a full bar. Go here to study or work while you have a coffee, stay and have a beer after.
Great knowledge on coffee poor customer service. One smile can go a long way...kind of disappointed
Saved us with hot coffee at a cold Thanksgiving day parade!
Perfect spot to be with my baby on a wet, snowy, Tuesday afternoon in the Wayne State District of our fare city. Warmly received and the coffee is on point.
Cafe miel is great. The lavender latte is legit awesome.
A place for both coffee and beer! :) And yummy cookies!
A great place to grab a specialty coffee or draft beer.
I love this coffee shop. The staff is awesome and the drinks are just as great. I come here very often and have not been disappointed. Interior is cool and relax
Good coffee and a good place for a business meeting
Staff was polite, friendly, and skilled. Coffee was perfect. Watch out for chalk wiping on your hands from your name on the cups. Nice seating area to accommodate people with various needs (family, studying, meeting with friends, etc)
Amazing coffee. Always busy so call ahead or plan to wait
Very Cool! Great Coffee and good looking Bar. Free WiFi. Prices reasonable
Rude, wouldn't make my gfs drink cause they had already shut the machines down, won't be back
The atmosphere is great. The coffee is delicious. The Wi-Fi works well. Could use more outlets.
Moderately Good coffee but great concept and a wonderful ambiance. Worth a visit.
I love the coffee and the environment! Warm and friendly
No house drip coffee after 11am? Hmm, forced into a speciality $5 cup of drip after 11am? Great business strategy. Also, seating arrangements taken a little TOO seriously. An overly orchestrated coffee experience that obviously caters to niche of well-to-do or pretentious types.
Enjoyed the drip I had. Just not the overall experience.
Good place to chill and enjoy coffee, tea, pastries, conversation and more.
Coffee alone could receive five stars but that's not all that makes a place great. I have never felt any kind of welcoming or warm energy from the staff here over the years. I am a barista/server too, not just being a snob. Really wish the workers here projected more positive energy. They always seem rushed, impatient, and frustrated. It is unfortunate because they brew great coffee!
This has become my new regular coffee place; the nitro cold brew is awesome, the staff is always friendly and informative. The breakfast tacos are delicious!
You are welcome here, don't feel the need to fit in. Just go in, ask questions, order a drink and chill.
Really cool space. They have a full bar and good looking food.
Masks were not being enforced at all inside the cafe as customers worked on computers inside. It felt unsafe
Among nation's best coffee FANTASTIC.
Lends itself mightily to serving as office space.
Great Place for Breakfast and Business!!! Highly recommend their Sweet Raspberry Black Tea. It is absolutely delicious. I also greatly enjoyed their cold brew and cold brew ice cream float.
I love that I'm able to work here. They got outlets, so you can park for a bit and get some computer work done. But the staff really got an attitude. I don't know if the coffee is worth the mark up.
Great products but pretty bad service. Sat at the bar for at least 7 minutes while the two "baristas" carried on and served everyone but me. Super awkward experience.. didn't help that my man with the afro was hiding behind the taps and looking at me. Super weird. Sucks because the products are good, and I want to drink them. Ah, well.
Nice place to meet with friends. They also have music on Friday and Saturday nights. They serve food, coffee, beer and wine.
Great Coffee shop, even have bar available to offer up classic style cocktails. Only complaint is there isn t one in my neighborhood!
Omg I'm obsessed. Wine and coffee? They have me sold.
Great espresso and beer selection. It has a nice little patio outside too. Good place to get some work done or socialize with a friend. Great customer service and a fantastic selection of music.
I like the coffee here and it is a good establishment for sitting to work on my computer.
Great service, great coffee. Will make this a stop next time I'm downtown for sure!!!
I bought a regular cup of coffee with cream. $2.75 +tx... REALLY good cup of coffee. Looking forward to having another soon. Will look for the beans as well.
Great coffee in the day, great drinks in the evening.
Came here to get my Voting Day Detroit buisness crawl started, what better way than a cup of coffee and yes Baileys Irish Cream! (They have a liquor license, yes Gawd!) They offer a few different types of coffees at all times, a good lunch, light dinner menu but most of all an awesome laid back WiFi access atmosphere, which I love!
Cool coffee shop on Woodward. I recommended the Motor City blend.
I was so pleased to see they had dairy free options. Great place to sit and the coffee is unreal. Will be going regularly.
Their coffee is brewed very weak, even their pour overs. The espresso always tastes old and putrid. The atmosphere is great, the location is great, and the food was above average, which is pretty good for a coffee shop. But when people call it the best in Detroit I bet they think Dunkin Donuts is a close second...
Very good coffee. Excellent place to sit, read a book, or just chat with a friend. Love the industrial decor, fits the location.
Good coffee and seating options! I was a little disappointed that there are no refills on the quick cups of coffee after 10am. The mug that the coffee came in was a little small.
The local coffee is always for me the best option and there they sell packed so that you have it at home, my experience was that I ordered a tumeric latte because I was curious about how they were going to handle the flavor of the species in a latte, the presentation was bad, the dust had remained on the top of the cup, the girl did it again and the taste improved although I do not understand why she did it a second time and she knew better that tells me that the first time she did not care about my experience in the Instead, she does not know if it's my first time visiting that place and that based on my experience I decide if I return or not, similar prices to other sites, the customer service is not very friendly, the menu is extensive, it has other products such as beer, wine and food service which I did not try because my experience with my first order, is a place designed for mostly young people who drink coffee while chatting. The place is rustic and beautiful, the bathrooms require more attention which leads me to the conclusion that the place is good but something lacks in its customer service.
Great Lakes Coffee has probably earned itself the name of one of Detroit s defining coffee shops. It certainly has opened the door for many people to start exploring Detroit s coffee scene.
Their espresso drinks and art is some of the best in the city, and I recommend going there just for that. They tend to stock a good selection of coffees for pour-overs but they tend to lean toward medium and light roasts.
Their unique selling point is the beer, wine, and liquor offerings in the afternoon and beyond. This makes them a coffee shop where you can meet up anytime you want, whether it be for conversation or work. They have a wonderful selection of drinks and make it easy for anyone to find something they like. You ll find yourself diligently working or enjoying good conversation if you go. It does tend to be busy, so expect during busy points of the day to wait for a seat or to have to hunt for one.
Coffee is delicious and the staff is friendly. Couldn't ask for more!
Love a place where I can have a nice coffee and a glass of wine.
Love the ambiance! The Wintersleep coffee was phenomenal.
Not only can you get a great cup of jo here, they will put booze in it for you.
The best coffee in Detroit....without a close second.
Great pour over and cold brew coffee. Nice atmosphere. Great pastries too.
Needs more outlets for charging. Food is good, when studying. Wish there was more food on the menu list, oh and more lattes.
customer service is hit or miss but the drinks are always tasty!
Hispter, PRICEY, fresh, responsibly resourced, gourmet Coffee and Booze bar. Decent selection of European Wines, Craft Beers, and tasty cocktails.
Credit Card and Wide-rimmed glasses required.
Of all the coffee shops I visited during my week in Detroit, this was my favorite. Delicious coffee, baked goods, and breakfast, and it was a nice spot to hang out as well. Came back in the evening to sample the great beer selection and again really enjoyed the vibe. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well!
Good atmosphere, great coffee, friendly staff. Best place for coffee in Midtown.
I cant decide if i want coffee, craft beer, or wine bc everytime i go here all three are a homerun. I was a Barista for 5 years at various coffee shops and i can say this place does it right. Good bean, good roast, perfectly steamed milk, and a great hand behind the machine. First time in get the lavender latte.
Great coffee shop! I used to come here every week when Steve was doing trivia. I hope they bring back custom trivia again, the chain trivia people just aren't as good. They know how to make a good drink here too.
