I had a horrible experience with this shop. I was recommended to purchase through their website for more selection. I ordered bike for my daughter on Dec 14 for Christmas. I asked about the order during Christmas week. Their staff told me that it s unlikely that the bike will be here for Christmas due to delays with the manufacturer. I was advised that it will arrive on first week of January. That was little disappointing but we were fine with that.

After the first week of January, I started to call and left four messages regarding my order but didn t receive any return calls. On Saturday January 18, I went down to the store and a staff stated that the owner is not available and is out of town. Staff told me that the owner or a manager will give me a call on Monday.

Needless to say I didn t receive any calls. I followed up again on Thursday, January 23rd and spoke with David. I believe he is the manager. It turns out that they reverse the charges to my credit card and didn t bother to notify me my email or phone. He didn t apologize and acted like I was taking his busy time.

I try to support our small businesses in downtown Davis but they clearly did not want my business. I am very disappointed in this place.

I went in just to look around and check out decent prices in the area. The clerk had a smug look as he said they don't sell used bikes. I never asked for a used bike. What a jerk to look down to me when he works at a bike shop! Never coming here ever again. How dare he treat me that way!

We didn't end up buying from them because they didn't have the step through model our daughter wanted, but Reagan was super friendly and helpful. She spent at least 15 minutes sizing our daughter to the proper height bike and let her take one for a spin. Even though we didn't purchase the bike from them we'll be taking it there for tuneups, adjustments and accessories.

This shop exceeds Freewheeler in quality of work. They exceed Ken's Bike and Ski in both quality and customer service. Dane, the manager, was was thorough and patient in showing me every detail of the estimated work to be done for the tune up of my bike. It was so well done that it's like riding a brand new bike. Plus they weren't afraid to fill the tires to maximum capacity (unlike the other shops). The only suggestion I would make is that when they do a test ride, to pay more attention to the small noises that would indicate a need for fine tuning. For example the crank arm was hitting the plastic chain guard in certain gears, which they quickly adjusted and wouldn't harm anything, but the noise was obvious. The customer service in general is excellent. I will definitely go back for all my bicycle needs.

Couldn t be happier with the service I received. I make ends meet as a courier part time and can t eat if I cant ride.

When I came in with a busted lock ring and toasted rear wheel my dudes at B & L recognized I was in a tight spot and had my bike repaired in just under two hours for a fraction of what the other shops were asking. They made it happen despite being super busy with all the bicycles coming in at the start of the quarter.

Not a good place to fix your bike for my experience . Slow and poorly done work. I got a flat tire, it was an easy fix. They asked me to return the next day. When I got there it wasn't fixed. They asked me to wait a little, did the job in 10 min. The next day I had a flat tire again. Went back, and they fixed again for free at least .

As an avid cyclist of over thirty years, I've been to a ton of shops and seen and heard a lot. I've done some racing, but never mention that when I go to a shop. Owning a shop in a college town offers many repair opportunities. On my first visit I had a positive experience. We needed very light adjustments which were done quickly and affordably. I spoke with someone and told him that I intended to make this our "home shop" for our son's bike needs. I wanted to keep my credit in his file so I could pay as repairs were needed. I was told it wasn't a problem. My son returned for a brake adjustment. The upsell and list of things to fix was extreme. The bike soon needed several new components and a complete tune up. He sent me pics and I suspected he was being given unnecessary suggestions with a heightened sense of urgency. I called the shop and spoke to a Mgr. We agreed on a more reasonable repair. Several days later when we were told the bike wad ready my son went to get the bike. He was told that they were unable to charge my card and he needed to pay himself due to store policy. This was curious since that was one of the reasons I chose this shop. He had to find his own way to pay. I no longer trust this place for service based on the excessive upselling and inability to accept payment as discussed. This store does however offer a great selection of accessories as well as new bike sales. I would categorize this business as a bike and accessory sales shop that also offers repairs. It's very centrally located and easy to find. It also very thoughtfully has a free tire inflator just to the right of the door so anyone riding by can fill up their tires.

I brought in my bike for a free consultation today and Dane (one of the mechanics) was extremely friendly and patient walking me through all the different parts of my bike and telling me about how it works, the condition, etc. He noticed that my chain and cassette were very worn out and gave me an estimate on the spot for the materials and labor. It took him about an hour to install the new parts and get me on my way. Super friendly service - I will definitely be back next time I have any issues with my bike.

If you are considering purchasing a bike in Davis, this shop must be the last one to consider. Don't believe in any fancy promise they make about maintenance or after sell service in store, they don't even provide a free drop of oil for the chain after 60 days. As a customer who spent so much money there, I feel extremely disappointed a year after I made the purchase. They should reconsider their customer service.

My bike recently got stolen so I was on the lookout for a cheap bike. I went to this place and was instantly greeted by some really nice people. They helped me find a bike that fit my budget, and some locks to with it (I had locks on my previous bike but they were stolen as well). The bike didn't have the color wheels I liked, but they accommodated me and switched them out for a slick set of chromed ones for no charge. I really appreciated them doing me that favor, especially when I was on a budget. This place was great and I plan on going back to them for any bicycle needs in the future.

Poor customer service and communication! Was not informed when the part they ordered for my bike was wrong and had to be sent back (not their fault) extending my wait for my bike by a week and was only told what had happened after I called to see what was up. After waiting another week called to check on the progress to find out they still hadn't gotten the part in and that it would be another week till they got the part and were done with the labor ( a total of four weeks in the shop!!!). Only to be called back ten minutes later by them saying they were wrong and the bike had been finished for a couple of days (without anyone having contacted me). They have definitely lost my service.

Don't trust all of the workers there. They'll try to sell you services you don't need and they almost never completely fix your bike. You're almost always going to be overcharged for a simple flat tire or brake fix and after a month or two you'll have another problem with your bike which they'll overcharge you for and won't fix anything. I HIGHLY recommend other more genuine bike shops in Davis.

This was the only Davis bike store I could find that was open before 10 AM, and I needed to repair a flat rear tire in a hurry (I'd just come up from the Bay Area on the train for a meeting at UC Davis). Dave and Aidan helped me right away, changed my tire quickly, gave me advice about rear taillights in the meantime, and charged a very reasonable price for the service. And - as an extra bonus - I got to play with their very friendly, fluffy resident cat Milo. All in all a great experience. I was really grateful for their speedy help and friendly professionalism.
