Try placing people in leadership/charge roles that are actually leadership material. Some of your current ones are an embarrassment. You will have staffing issues if you continue on the path you are on.

Avera hospital is a joke. They authorize a Covid test to be done on 23rd and MN and then will not give you the test results! They claim the parent is the only one who can get the information even though I, as a grandparent, have been caring for him for YEARS! So now they want to hold the results hostage. What a joke.
Called the ER and the woman who answered was COMPLETELY rude and unhelpful. Talked to me as if i was stupid. She connected me somewhere else and the other woman did exactly the same thing. Talked over me. Talked to me as if i was illiterate. The call was so bad that i ended up having to hang up because I couldn t even get a word in. Avera please get better people on your phones because their complete lack of empathy is alarming and makes your hospital look horrible!!!! If i could rate a 0 stars I absolutely would!
Really good environment and very professional staff! My baby is in the nicu and she's having the best care!
Worst ER experience I have ever had. I brought my daughter here on Christmas Day because she was having chest pains and trouble breathing. The nurse at the front desk actually asked my daughter why do you think you need to be here? Then, she proceeded to seat us in the waiting area and basically forget about us until we finally just got up and left and went to Sanford where she received service right away and wasn t made to feel like she was doing something wrong by going to the hospital. Will never set foot in that place again!
I come from a 5 time magnet health system in Colorado, Poudre Valley Hospital. After getting sub-standard care in Rapid City... we were transferred to Sioux Falls. The care at Avera is on point with Colorado. It was not surprising to find that Avera is a multi time Magnet Award winning hospital too, and it shows. The nursing staff cares. The doctors listen. Rooms are clean. Staff is responsive. And the care is EXCELLENT. In South Dakota, there is no other. PLEASE COME TO RAPID. BUILD IN RAPID. WE NEED THE COMPETITION.
My mom arrived in the ICU yesterday. I have been shocked and disgusted with the un-professionalism displayed by the nursing staff. Laughing and cackling and joking loudly right outside patients rooms who are in critical condition and need rest and comfort.
Do not go here if you have financial hardships. The debt collectors they contract with (which probably still avera, but under a diffent identity) is the most cut-throat debt collector I've ever delt with. Ive dealt with a few in the past, but before i was able to negotiate payment options before being served court papers.
My father spent a week with the caring and helpful Nurses and Doctors. They were very attentive to his needs and also the family. Cannot be more greatful. God bless you.
