An okay gallery with a range of European and New Zealand art. It's a bit of a lucky dip as everyone has different art taste. The staff are friendly and at the moment they had a Gordon Walter's show which was geometric/pattern style art and it was quite interesting. Sadly international visitors have to pay a heafty price for visiting something like $20, which is very off putting to visitors, considering art/history/culture should be accessible from those of all backgrounds. I think the international price for visitors should be reduced to atleast $10 or even $8. Otherwise an alright art gallery.

We were lucky enough to catch the light show, it was really great my only negative was we went to in on the first floor and thought that was it as we did not see any other signs on the contrary lucky we decided to explore more of the gallery and found a lot more of the exhibition which was amazing. The art that is permanent is good not too much of it but the special exhibits and the contemporary art makes up for it all. We watched a movie they had about the history of film and that was really informative and interesting.

I always love going to the Auckalnd Art Gallery. This particular visit was made extra special because of the Yayoi Kusama: The Obliteration Room exhibition. I was looking forward to it and was so happy that Auckland Art Gallery brought the exhibition from Queensland Art Gallery. It was such a wonderful and immersive experience for the whole family. Exhibition closes on the 2nd of April 2018...I highly recommend that you see it before it ends however, Auckland Art Gallery will surely have another exhibition to look forward to if you miss this one.

Open late night for art week was disappointung. Payment and bookings required for most exhibitions. Difficult for my disabled sister to get around too. Auckland Art Gallery doesn't compare favourably to others in New Zealand. Make it accessible for all.

Definitely worth a short walk around the gallery to see some interesting art work. However information is limited; no WiFi available to download audio guide nor headphones provided... a redundant resource. Cloakroom staff returned my previously dry coat wrapped around a sopping wet umbrella(!) as if I should be grateful. A bit of common sense could gain this gallery great reviews and provide visitors with a better experience.

The building is absolutely stunning, the staff are friendly and very informative. There was a fragrance art was very interesting, sometimes art is not just sight and touch. The cardboard art exhibition was beautiful and the fact that the public contributes to this is wonderful. Definitely worth a visit.

What a beautiful building and amazing collection. As ratepayers our entry was free (bring some proof of your address. I used my driver's licence). Really friendly and engaged staff. A really awesome way to get some culture in. One of the best experiences in Auckland.

Great gallery that keeps the main collection free for Aucklanders and puts on some great exhibitions (some paid, some free). Paintings rotate frequently and there is always an interactive feature for kids(/grown ups!!). Cafe on the top level is quite nice, though pricey. There's a sculpture terrace which is well worth checking out.

Beautiful art museum - architecture with exhibition by Louise Henderson.

Louise Henderson 1902 1994 has made impressive abstract paintings on a large canvas.

You can find the museum in the car-free city center close to the central park.

Of international standard. Worth a visit, to see some interesting art, architecture. The collection is very safe, conservative and ultimately blurs with other national galleries. Mona in Hobart really pushes people and the collection here could use some edge. The cafe, is a bit pricey but that s fairly typical and no more so than other large gallery refreshment options.
