I don't know if Dr. Lu has changed his attitude since when I met him in 2017 or not. Back then, I went there for just checking if I need new pairs of glasses or not and after all the examinations, he insisted me to buy a new pair of glasses from him and him only because he claimed if I go elsewhere with the numbers he prescribed, they may give me wrong glasses. When I observed this obsession I changed my mind and said I just need my results and do not need new frame and glasses from you. So I took the measures (prescribed by Dr. Lu) somewhere else and got an expensive and nice pairs of glasses but the measures where wrong and I had sore eyes for 2 months of wearing them. My eyes were exploding from pain so I went to another eye doctor and she told me that my glasses numbers are totally wrong and that's why I had sore eyes and headache. I got a new pair (have been wearing them for 3 years) and have never had a problem with them.

Wow what a great experience! I am a dal student form out of province so wasn t sure where to get my eyes checked. Looked up eye doctor and choose this location. Dr.Lu was so energetic and informational, made me excited about having to get glasses. Also so fast & on time. They also offer a great 30-day warranty if you buy your glasses there, and get them to you within 1-2 days!

I m quite surprised reading some of the negative reviews here, as they are not at all consistent with my experience. I just had an emergency visit with Dr. Lu, whom I had never met, and all things considered it was the best optometrist experience I ve ever had. I went in with a scratched cornea and extreme discomfort, and I left with the biggest feeling of relief and very little discomfort. When I initially called to see if I could come in, he decided to stay open long enough for me to get there. After the appointment, he gave me his cell number in case I experience any emergencies before they reopen on Monday.

I ve never contemplated having a go to optometrist, but I know where I ll be going from now on.

Doctor Lu is the best eye doctor I have ever met. I visited him for emergency and he took care of me very well. I would highly recommend him and wish him the best

I'm not sure why people have been commenting that Dr. Lu rushes and doesn't explain things, because in my experience he has been incredibly thorough. He even pulled up a diagram to explain my eye disorders and answered any questions I had in a very detailed manner.

Not only that, but during the exam when he does the "1 or 2" thing with the lenses, he double and sometimes triple checks to make sure whether 1 or 2 is better. I've never had an eye doctor do that. Really. In the past I've had trouble with my prescriptions because of that to be honest, so this is really important for me.

He's also got a lovely disposition and a sense of humour, which in my opinion is far too rare in most eye doctors or really any medical professional. Dr. Lu is a lovely man and it's clear that he cares about what he does as well as his patients. I'm quite grateful to have found him.

Edited to add - the complete eye exam costs $129. In my opinion this is more than worth it because I have been through the ringer with eye doctors not understanding my eye disorders and/or being of the type that wants you out of there as fast as possible. Dr. Lu takes his time and actually cares, which is more than I can say for many eye doctors in this city. As well - and this is a BIG one - glasses and contact lenses arrive really fast. Like within a week. That's pretty awesome.

Absolutely wonderful people! Dr. Lu is just so pleasant, thorough, and just a good honest person:) Have been going here since moving to Halifax in 2015, have had nothing but great experience here.

This was my second appointment here, though my first with Dr. Lu. Appointment times were very accessible, and I was able to book one within the week. COVID-19 precautions were seamless and made me feel safe entering the space. Dr. Lu is a very energetic, kind optometrist, and addressed my concerns directly and honestly. I was worried about dry, red eyes and he took the time to explain common reasons and provided me with the reassurance I needed. The complete eye exam was thorough and he reviewed the images with me. Thank you Dr. Lu!

Had a similar experience as a poster, I will copy her main point as sums it up exactly as it happened " Got an appointment quite quickly but then was just disappointed - Dr. Lu is quite hectic, speaks very fast, and does not explain what he's doing and why. The best part - when I was about to pay, they charged about $50 more than what the eye exam costs as Dr. Lu had also performed a contact lens adjustment and, without comment, had given me a pair of new lenses. I had requested neither." Will not return here as I think this was very shady and was not taken off the bill when requested
