I am disappointed in the care received here. It's very much a "factory" model. The waiting room in a specialty center was standing-room only, twice. I didn't feel anyone was invested in my well being. For example, I was told, "Someone will call you, definitely!" We know waiting is tough," and no one did when results came in, not even to say, "We can't actually tell anything until you see your doctor, and we're sorry." My call wasn't returned. When I saw my ordering physician, he was surprised no one had talked to me about the results. Likewise, the morning of my diagnostic testing, *I* was the one on my patient portal from a previous hospital pulling records--despite signing a records request and release weeks before. Annoying, but the kicker is that even as someone with great insurance (USG), I had to pay a chunk of money UPFRONT before anything was done. I was told my appointment would be cancelled otherwise. The speaker was very "sugary," but the threat was implicit. Now, thereafter, it's always been a "pre-pay request," so I've done what every financial advice column out there suggests and pay after the bill is filed with insurance and an EOB has been issued. Now that I have to have surgery there, I am really concerned. The one good thing was everyone was scrupulous about time outs and hand washing. Individuals were nice, but I think the "system" of the place is cold and too automated. Addendum: Had my bilateral mastectomy. Surgeon was great, CRNA was awesome, floor nurses were good. Pre-op was weird (they didn't wear gloves), anesthesiologist was rude (barged in while I was changing clothes, and come ON, this was an emotional time for me and SO), and they put the IV in a wrist vein I knew was bad (remember: cancer patient). Sure enough, it collapsed right after PACU and they had to reinsert where I suggested in the first place. Still have a "bump" and numbness. Now, it's time for reconstruction, and I'm going to St. Mary's. Will not go back to PAR.
