VISIT WITHOUT REGISTRATION POSSIBLE As many of you are aware of by research, there is a registration portal for definitive admission to the observatory visit, where you have to register several months in advance to be admitted to safety. Several weeks in advance, it is possible to sit on the same portal on the waiting list. Now there is also the possibility to ride without registration. There was a travel car waiting for about 60 guests. Then, in turn, the visitors are let in. In our case, 16 people were allowed to board without registration, which fit perfectly on this day with 15 without registration. For approval without registration, I recommend a very early appearance, because even for a priority list is maintained. It is also important to bring an ID. Furthermore, I join many here with 5 star ratings.

I have admired this ALMA project in our country since its first publications and I have been able to see its evolution and reality at last and I hope to know this wonder before I die. I am already of legal age but I am sure that I will witness great astronomical discoveries that these facilities will offer to all mankind. Congratulations

A fascinating experience for those interested in astronomy, engineering or simply want to know more about the mysteries of the universe! You have a guided weekend tour from San Pedro de Atacama and to get a seat you must register in advance on the official website or be lucky enough to have to give up at the time of boarding the bus.

Be fascinated with what we can accomplish. ALMA has certainly proved that. A collaboration between 3 continents, it is a unique marvel and accomplishment. We were fortunate to take the tour and learn a lot about space and what we cannot see nor know. There's great grasp of knowledge that you get to learn when you take this tour, which is free, during weekends only. It's one of the most inspiring tours that I've experienced. It's a must and take your time to visit their website so you can apply your name for the tour. You won't regret it!

Thank you for the opportunity to visit the Alma Observatory complex in May / 2016! Still surprised by the high technology deployed in the Atacama Desert to unveil the universe. Thank you so much for the learning opportunity, the reception and transfers to the venue. Must-see tour for everyone visiting San Pedro do Atacama!

They fill their mouths talking about how "evolved" Chile is, without knowing that none of the observatories in our country and that we only have 10% of the time to use them for the simple fact that they are on our land

A fantastic observatory, formed by several countries, around 21, considered the largest and best in the world. The astronomers who work there are chosen for submitted projects, on merit and for a specific period, giving the opportunity to any scientist on the planet to apply and have the opportunity to develop their project. It is open to visitation, having to register in advance on the website. Worth the visit. A highly qualified professional is appointed as an engineer or astronomer with specialization in the educational field, who takes a fantastic tour of the facilities, telling the story and giving explanations on how everything works.

ALMA Observatory has three main positions: Operations Facility (OSF), Local Area Operations (AOS) Support, and Santiago Central Services (SCO). Facility Operations Support (OSF): The OSF is and will continue to be, in many respects, the ALMA project activity center. Activity focus changes as ALMA achieves many different goals throughout the project. Currently it is the area where all local ALMA contractors and their staff are accommodated. Special camps have been erected and can now accommodate the required maximum capacity of 500 workers. The OSF, of course, will not only serve as the base camp for contractors. It will become the focal point of all Assembly-Integration-Verification (AIV) antenna activities. Antenna mounting is done at the OSF site in three separate areas, one each for antennas provided by North America (Vertex), Japan (MELCO), and Europe (AEM Consortium). AIV activities will be performed at the OSF, upon preliminary acceptance of the antennas, and before moving them to the AOS.

Out-of-this-world. Almost literally. When you look at the collection of dishes through the tinted windows of the relaxation lounge of the technical building at 5050m altitude, the absence of movement outside - except the periodical rotation of the telescope dishes - makes you feel like you're in a base on another planet. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.
