On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, we invited two master artists and former world champions, Anand and Karpov.
They played simultaneous games, Karpov against 22 boards and Anand against 28. There were some draws.

The orthodox tend to avoid having pictures taken. I particularly wanted to get the man's hat. Got a couple of women as well. So often they seem to walk quite fast as if they were late for an appointment.

An important landmark in old city of Jerusalem. Near David tower and the tram line. Close to Zion square as well. This is a good point to start your visit , as u can find a tourist info bus near the gate

The place to start your Old City experience. Always interesting with visitors from around the world catching their first glimpse of the city gates, concerts and local school groups flowing by, and a nice little park to rest in just before the entrance. There is a currency exchange just inside the gate, plus a clean washroom just inside. Restaurants are a bit pricier here than elsewhere in the Old City, so walk a bit before eating if you are on a budget. One of my favourite places on earth.

One of the 7 open doors to the Old City, the Jaffa Gate is the main entrance for most tourists to the Old City. Immediately after the entrance, you will find the Arab market, with its many stalls and small shops, and the Tower of David Museum.
From the Jaffa Gate you have an incredible view of the valley below, the district of Armon Hanatziv, Mishkenot Shaananim and the skyline of the modern city.

One of the 7 open doors to the Old City, the Jaffa Gate is the main entrance for most tourists to the Old City. Immediately after the entrance, you will find the Arab market, with its many stalls and small shops, and the Tower of David Museum.
The door of Jaffa, in Arabic Bab al-Khalil, the "door of the friend" (the reference is to Abraham: it is the door that goes towards Hebron). Opened in 1898 to allow the solemn entrance of Kaiser Wilhelm II. From the Jaffa gate to the south-east corner of the walls it is possible to see traces of the Herodian route.
Around the Gate the Israelis have recently done enormous road works.
Inside, on the left of the Jaffa Gate, there are two tombs are those of the architects executed by Suleiman made for leaving Mount Zion outside the walls.
The whole area between the Jaffa gate and the south-west corner reveals the traces of the previous walls.
It is in this area that the Romans managed to break through in 70 AD
From the Jaffa Gate you have an incredible view of the valley below, the district of Armon Hanatziv, Mishkenot Shaananim and the skyline of the modern city.

The entrance to the Old City, David's Citadel, the Shouk, the City Wall walk. All of them are available from this point and if you venture back outside the city walls you end up in Mamila, one of the highpoints of modern Jerusalem.

History starts here in the Old City of Jerusalem. From here make your way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Western Wall, Temple Mount, the Shouk...

Amazing cover for photos. The main road leading to the Old City. There is no doubt that on special occasions it is a great experience to pass there. Judaism in weeks and forgiveness and more, Muslims in Ramadan and other holidays and Christians also have their own holidays.

Enjoyed the trip especially the guided tour they are fun. The Arab Christian's are very grumpy if you are not interested in purchasing any goods while walking through the narrow market lanes.
