Starters used to be good but I've noticed quality has gone downhill in the past years. I've gone through 3 in past 5 yrs or so and all same failing solenoid issue. Their warranty process doesn't seem like a smooth positive experience as well. Now a few of the Arco starters are no longer painted black on the body, seems like they are getting cheaper and cheaper. I will go Arrowhead marine starters and alternators from now on.

Unfortunately, ARCO is unable to offer a replacement drive gear - bendix for a common 30460 GM marine starter. The drive gear - bendix is not available as a service part and ARCO does not offer a rebuild / reman process for repair of this otherwise perfectly functional starter. I am left with no option but to replace the entire starter versus repairing mine.

I brought in an old marine alternator yesterday that has stumped a variety of specialists. The voltmeter and tach only register if you rev the engine quite a bit. He tested it and said all was well and hinted that the exciter terminal might not be getting enough voltage and there is an unexplained disconnected wire of the same color behind the engine. I suspect his advice is "spot on" and he did all of the testing and trouble shooting at no charge. Can't thank them enough
