I absolutely love A-Basin! I've lived in Denver all my life, have purchased the Epic pass for Keystone, A-Bay, Breck, Vail and Beavercreek. I now just have an A-Bay/Keystone pass. You don't need anything else.
A-Basin is usually referred to as the "Locals"mountain.
Great time and a great bowl!!!

One of my favorite Colorado ski resorts. The terrain is mostly advanced and there is a good option for hiking on the East wall. It's also not as crowded as other resorts. Make sure to check out Montezuma Bowl

Probably one of the best mountains for beginners and pros in the area, this offers excellent tree runs, fun ramps and grinds. The chair lift to the highest part of the mountain can regularly shut down because of the wind but other then that there's no problems, all of the runs lead back down to the same chair lift so you can't get lost and there are lots of ways to choose to go.

Great local area to ski and ride. While it is much smaller than many of the nearby resorts, it still offers a great mix of terrain for all skill levels. The area is at a relatively high altitude which straddles the tree line. This means an early opening and a latter closing day (typically late October or early November into June). The only drawback would be exposure above the tree line on windy days. Again, despite being relatively small, there are a few places on the mountain for food and drinks which I have always found to be pretty good.. Parking is also free, which is always a bonus.

My favorite ski area in the Front Range. I like that it's not a huge resort and is where most of the locals hang out. If you get there early you can park along the lifts and bbq. Lots of people bring their dogs to hang out as well. Give their bloody Marys a try too.

Steep!

Pretty sick place with gnarly terrain close to Denver. Too bad most of it was closed when I was there. Regardless, the snow was great and lift lines moved quickly. If you buy lift tickets on liftopia, you can save a ton of cash. Employees are very friendly and the food is fantastic. Get a grilled cheese (the one with duck) at the restaurant there; it is amazing.

This place is for skiing and not much else. If you're looking for amenities, go to Winter Park. I personally like ski resorts like A Basin because I don't have to walk 10 miles to the lift. Will definitely return.

A-Basin is awesome. Fantastic runs and snow, great lessons for first-timers and experienced skiers, and excellent food. Parking is a cinch. Our group had a spectrum of skier experience and had a great time. If you're taking lessons (which are reasonably priced) you don't have to be intimidated by the number of advanced runs.

First time visiting a skii resort and the staff made sure I felt welcomed and educated me on everything I needed to know. Instructors are patient and encouraging it was so much fun! Can't wait to go back!

One of the only places that keeps the "local" resort feel intact, AB stays true to its roots, and embraces the culture. Fantastic terrain without all of the cost or the consumerist feel of other resorts, it's a must-visit place for anyone looking for a relaxed day on the mountain.

Went skiing here a few times. Love the slopes here. I am a beginner and stay to the easier routes. The ski trails i have taken here were all very open and is probably a good place to learn to ski or snow board.

Great campy mountain. The lodge is no frills simple, food is decent, bloody Mary s are great, the runs are steep, the parking is a pain, and they let you bring your dog on the slopes before they open the lifts. The only downfall is the bathrooms... by the end of the day the smell and the mess is enough to make you wanna hold off through the Sunday ski traffic until you make it home.

If you value no-nonsense steep technical runs, good people/scene ( the beach ), natural beauty and the best food/drink for the money in the whole industry then A-Basin is for you. If you like long relaxed meandering woodsy trails, only stay on greens and blue groomers, need to stay walking distance or in ski in/out lodging or are mainly interesting in the frills of a fancy resort...then A-Basin might not be your cup of tea (and that s totally fine).

There are some that say A-Basin is not a great place to learn and I wholeheartedly disagree. While it s true that there aren t a ton of options for beginner runs and their blues are some of the more challenging in the country, the beginner runs that they do have are solid and typically less crowded than any other nearby resorts. They also have outstanding instructors and great rates on lesson/lift 4 packs. Group lessons seem to be kept small and manageable so you can get the attention you need. Finally, the challenging terrain options of this mountain will just make you a better skier/rider in the long run. Copper Mtn is another outstanding option if you re just starting out.

If you re a park guy/gal you may want to look elsewhere. While A-Basin has some of the best natural features in the area, terrain parks are definitely not their specialty (visit Keystone or Copper for that).

If you re a snowboarder there are some wide flat transition areas and run outs that can be challenging/annoying and may even require a short walk. They re easy enough to avoid if you know the mountain and are able to keep your speed on a flat stretch. It might not be my favorite mountain for snowboarding but it is hands down my favorite in the region for skiing. The Pallavicini lift is absolutely classic and the stuff of ski resort legends...enough said!

One is the best, if not underrated mountains in the country. Easily accessible steep terrain, top to bottom groomers, and plenty of off-piste ungroomed options. Ridiculously inexpensive season pass. Skip Breck and Keystone and ski here.

I went to Breck the first day of my ski trip and it was certainly a warm up for A Basin. Do not let the trail rating system fool you! Everything is VERY steep here. The blues at A Basin would be blacks at Breck. But there were large crowds and it was a lot cheaper than Breck. Staff was friendly too.

Busy bar so sat in the adjacent cafeteria that closed at 4pm. Because I wasn't at the bar, when I came to collect my nachos they had given them to someone else. You need clout to order here. I hear the skiing is excellent though.

Better get there early there s very little parking and overflow parking after that they tell you to go elsewhere or wait. Best not to buy tickets ahead of time as they won t give you a refund. Much better resorts within a couple miles

Beutliful place I visited NOT in ski season. It was open for October Fest and hundreds people came to have great time, some dancing, drinking and relaxing around the stage, others taking a ride up the mountains not to ski, but to hike down or just to relax and admire the scenery from above
