nice menu simple but good and relatively varied all while remaining in a typical setting. Seen from the outside, the restaurant does not look like much, and the menu in an archaic fashion does not make you want to go back to school, but it is really worth it.

Excessive prices, only justified by the location of the restaurant and not its cuisine. Two requested dishes were missing the day we came. Many dishes seem warmed.
Dutch food, very delicious! I especially want to eat tartar steak again. Whether the yen is weak or because it is a sightseeing spot, it has become a payment close to 10,000 yen for each parent and child with a drink and one item each.
Worst service. We wanted to order waffles, but the servant said they can't make them since the chef is busy doing the main dishes. Funny that in the menu was written that they serve it after 5 and it was 7:50. He than said he would only serve it after 8 and we reminder him it was nearly that time. Less that one minute late he brought waffles, cold and dry. We ordered with Nutella, for the price of 7+Euro you might expect a nice waffle. But it only came with two small packages of Nutella. And besides the bad service the food tasted horrible.
The food quality is poor to very poor, not restaurant worthy. Cheese croquettes are filled with frying fat and Stoverij was not fresh and not well heated. Fries also not well cooked unfortunately. And into the entourage, let's say we see this sooner in a cafeteria than in a restaurant with associated prices. But the beer was tasty and the city of Bruges is beautiful
I'm a vegetarian and when friends suggested they would like to try this restaurant I agreed. I was very disappointed with the vegetarian options. Apart from spaghetti neopolitan and salads there was little else. The staff bent backwards to suggest different foods without meats. As it was cold I didn't fancy a salad but ended up asking for salad and chips. The salad that they made for me is a salad I've never had before and to me it was out of this world. It had hot mushrooms potatoes lots if nuts and a light salad dressing. It was a giant portion. I am very pleased to award them five stars as they went over and beyond to accommodate my special needs. Thank you so much.
I had to pour my own beer Duvel in a wet, not dry glas like suggested (Not many people can pour Duvel correctly). The rose wine goes straight to your head. The meal had to little vegetables, the stew was way to sweet and the fries had a dry taste.
Very pleasant welcome and setting Quality and fast service Very nice plates and in quantity (the ham was a wonder) Small problem on the croquettes which were still just frozen, but very quickly replaced politely Good value for money
Very slow restaurant in the service. From plate to plate it took an hour to watch. Regular food and a lot of heat inside. There is no children's menu or food adapted for children. The location is spectacular and the terrace is beautiful
Very kind and fast service. Of course the Belgian beer options are great, until 9% of alcohol graduation. We choose the local Brugse Zot blond 6%, a bolognaise lasagne, and a single espresso, very well done. So, an international meal in Bruges. Let s go, the sun is shining!
Good food and service. We had the lasagna that costs 12 . The rest seemed a bit expensive for a lunch. Then again most restaurants are in the same price range.
The site is not as expensive as some reviewers say, the dishes are very large and the food very good. The staff is very friendly and they help you to choose, really recommendable.
Very good restaurant, but a little bit expensive. Some good bread should be provided with the meat, not the basic slices, and helpings could be more generous. Expresso needs improvements. Friendly staff.
WE did not have much time to spend in Brugge while visiting and there is certainly a wide variety of choices but for whatever reason Aquarel caught our group's eye and we stopped in for a quick beverage and some split pea soup and what seemed like fresh out of the oven bread.
We could not be more happy with our luck! The service was friendly and fast, the food was delicious and the menu had just about something for every craving.
Thank you for such a delightful afternoon. You certainly left an amazing impression on our group and added to what was already a beautiful day in your country.
22 euros for a poor quality steak, full of fat and overcooked (I asked rare, it was well cooked) and frozen fries. Service ok. Banal menu (fake Italian dishes and company) for the asking prices. Definitely to avoid.
One star for the super-friendly service, unfortunately after a 1000km journey through Germany and the Netherlands, by far the worst cappuccino at by far the highest price. Inside of questionable hygiene, outside dingy and full of broken glass. If you want to drink coffee - you'd better look for something else :-)
Thank you for this welcome and the good plate. Went there last Wednesday and the weather allowed us to sit on the terrace. Awesome. In addition, beautiful view of the small tree-lined square. Good value for money and served with a smile.
Excessive price for the proposed quality. Quality of the products very mediocre and service much too fast due to the dish to warm up. The plates are hot and a staff unfriendly. I recommend this "restaurant" to tourists and the usual.
Very warm setting, and very welcoming staff. However, the dishes are simple (not to mention the frozen french fries) for a relatively high price. Which is a shame for tourists looking for local gastronomy.
Pasta pesto with shrimp and the steak frites are wonderful. The beer from the Aquarel Beer house is very light. Anyway, great lunch .. price a little expensive but comparing with other restaurants in Brugge is worth it.
Where to start. My family and I sat down hungry and were looking at a menu with no theme and that had very sparse options. We ended up ordering ham and cheese croquets and fried fish with fries on the side. Then when the food came there were many surprises. 1. Our fries were served in what looked like a dog bowl and were not even the traditional Belgian fries 2. The ham and cheese croquets didn t even have ham! They were just salty nuggets of fry oil and cheese. 3. When we asked for some ketchup to go with the fries the waiter went over to a cabinet and brought out a little plastic container that you d find at a takeout fast food restaurant and then said if you need more ask . As well as these disappointments we found the food way too overpriced. I have read in multiple other reviews of this establishment that you are expensive because you only use fresh ingredients and are at the same pricing rates as the neighboring restaurants. I could disagree. In the last three days we went to two other restaurants (Ellis Gourmet Burgers and Poules Moules) and both of them were better as well as cheaper and at higher quality. Arguably the service was good and the waiter was friendly, as well as the fact that the location is very nice, but I do not believe that can make up for the lack of professionalism through the food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants high quality food.
The restaurant where had planned to have a late lunch today was closed. By luck we happened upon Aquarel Restaurant. The food was light, fresh, delicious. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was delightful. We approached the restaurant and spoke to a waiter who I believe is the owner. We knew that Belgian white asparagus was in season and my wife very much wanted to have that. We were told that it was going to be available tomorrow but was not available today. Later when we decided to eat there anyway we were happy to be told that yes they would prepare the asparagus which they served with couscous and smoked salmon. Being in the Flemish part of Belgium I wanted to try Waterzooi. This has a light cream base with fish or chicken, their preparation was made with salmon and codfish. The fish was absolutely fresh and delicious. The vegetables were fresh and beautifully prepared. We asked for a beer recommendation. Brugse Tripel was very good. We finished with a Belgian waffle with strawberries. Everything was delicious. The experience was delightful. We hope to return to Bruges again someday. If we do, the first place we go will be Aquarel restaurant.
We were with our baby for lunch here and they were really friendly, they warmed up the food for our son in their microwave and brought our food when the baby was ready with his lunch.
Visited Bruges and this is one of the worst food experiences we had during our whole stay. The kroketten shrimp and goat cheese are from the supermarket and charging 23.00 for 3x of these with a little bit of salad and a few cheap fries? Toilets were not cleaned too. Service reacted very unfriendly about our complain. So therefore, NOT RECOMMENDED!
It has a pretty standard menu but I was most impressed by the fact that they were accommodating for my dietary needs. Price wise this place was reasonable too. We paid around 45 for two people to dine here. I had a tomato filled with shrimp on a bed of salad and a side of chips. I found the portion size more than filling. It wasn't very busy when we went and we were served pretty quickly. The waiters were also friendly. All in all I enjoyed my dining experience and would definitely come back again.
We wanted to eat some lunch and while walking under the rain we spotted this other family with a stroller and a kid, we thought it was the perfect setting, outside, looking at the rain and enjoy some food... as soon as we walked in the patio area this guy came out and look down on us, said that there was no room, while this other family was taking two tables and two tables were free... it s all about service, if you have family and a stroller hopefully they treat you better
The staff was the rudest they can ever be. I can totally understand if you re fully booked but there has to be some manners and respect for a customer who s willing to have a meal at your place! Completely avoid.
Super tasty food for a fair price. The customer is received as a king by the team of the Watercolor. Definitely recommended in the center of Bruges. El Tom Detavernier
