Angel Island really was as special as it sounds. I'm almost reluctant to share this place with the Googleverse, but what the hell, I'm feeling generous. Just go and relish the beauty of the place. I'd recommend choosing a day when the air is extra-clear, so you can really enjoy the views to the max.

Awesome place! Amazing views. The trolly ride was not amazing... If you go earlier in the day you can get on and off and walk around a bit. If you go on the last ride you can only get off once. The cafe was ok. The views from the top were amazing truely.
Lots of trails but they aren't marked very well. Great views of the north bay especially at the very top where you have a 360 degree view.
my favor place in the SF bay. easy ride by ferry or own boats. you can view the whole bay area and all bridges on the top of island.

Says there is a cafe on the island but it closes at 12:45... Right in the middle of lunch hour.. so be sure to bring your own lunch or check the cafe hours before your hike. Otherwise a great hike.

Spending a few nights moored at Angel Island is a great mini vacation for boaters. Take a lot of drinking water as the chlorine level of the Island water is very high. The food at the cafe is much better than you might expect from a small venue.
Rented bikes in Road around the island it was really fun actually. Interesting historical sites. Can get food and drinks there so it was a pleasant afternoon.
A hidden gem which during my 6+ years living in the Bay Area I never knew existed! I'm so glad I took my family to visit here, seeing the natural beauty and experiencing the calm of this unique stare park. Fascinating history and delicious food at the Cove Cafe just made this the perfect outing!
A great day trip! Took the short ferry ride from Tiburon. There are restrooms and picnic table available around the island. There is a small and limited cafe but I suggest you bring snacks. You can take the paved road around the island and still see some great views of the bay but if you are able to the hike up to the top (about 850ft) is worth it.
If you plan to see the whole island, plan for a day trip. We just saw the immigration section and it took hours. Very interesting! Also there is a tram tour.

It is a nice calmed, beautiful and full of colors. We enjoyed couple of hours there but it deserves a full day at least.
Great Bear back camping. I had a fantastic time and yes we get it all bareback. The fairies were fabulous but don't listen to the golden Blue & Gold Fleet they will tell you that you can only get out there from San Francisco once or twice a day but really there's a there's a boat every hour from Tiburon Blue & Gold Fleet will life you in end ruin your trip but you can get there every hour on the hour from Tiburon have a great day
Good place for people to hike with amazing views. However in the winter a lot of places like the visitor center are closed

Beautiful place, went there in the middle of January. No people, lots of wind and a stunning view from the top.
Great scenic hike, however ferries run too infrequent for me (every 3 hrs). They offer good food selection, but DEFINITELY out yourself on a schedule.

Very pretty!! Ideally, go early to enjoy the island more! You can picnic, walk, ride a bike, have a cafeteria, clean toilets! The last ferry at least on Sundays that I know ... leaves at 4:20 p.m. to Tiburon

Very beautiful island. You can ride a bike around the island. In summer you can take a bus tour or cgway.
Great state park for a day trip, of hiking or biking and get a panoramic view of the north bay area. We camped for one night on the sunrise campground, and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the amazing views!
Such a cool and amazing place packed with history. We rented bikes on the mainland and took the ferry over. Loved biking all over the island and enjoying the amazing views. We highly recommend!
Whole island is a state park! On a clear day, the views of the San Francisco Bay are to die for! Very beautiful

Loved visiting here, only one complaint: on the recorded tour they say that there are no poisonous snakes on the island. They should have said venomous snakes. I brought it up with a ranger and he looked at me like I was crazy. Hope they can fix this or amend it in the future.
Super friendly staff. Love it.it is so quiet. San Francisco is a busy city and it's too noisy, it is amazing that you can get away from such a busy city to a peaceful island just a few miles away!
I would definitely like to camp in this island and spend some time with friends and family.
Tiburon ferry was a great experience. We took the tram that offers a guided historic summary of the islands history. Unfortunately the immigration station is currently closed (covid) the guide told us they're working on a plan to perhaps open soon.
We saw deer and seals. It was a great outing for the kids especially with all the screen time they're enduring. Definitely will do it again but next time we'll hike.
This is a great place for walks with the family. In this place there are mountains, ocean, wind, sun and beautiful scenery. 2-3 hours on the island fly by quickly. Beautiful nature combined with good company on the island of Angels.
Great island to spend an afternoon at and walk a moderate hike by! I sailed there on a friend's boat, but I think people can take a ferry there from SF.
Go early and take the tram tour then take your time and walk around. There is a lot to see, I did the parimeter trail. I will be back to do the nature trail. Only the cafe was open.

Nothing special to see around compared to the other american national parks. Worth the visit if you go to Alcatraz.
Great place to go camping with the kids. Loved the back of the island and the historic buildings were really interesting to learn about. Lots of hikes and the view of the bay at night is super if you get a clear night. Bring a jacket for the wind and lots of sunblock, along with sturdy shoes.
From the views to the historical landmarks, Angel Island is a national park you don't want to miss. "The Ellis Island" of the west boasts unique hiking trails alongside historical sites. This is a great place to go on a day trip!

Came here by accident, didn't realise it was included in our Alcatraz tour. Incredible day out seeing relics of a forgotten era. Highly recommended!

Picturesque, great hiking, multiple points of interest, many areas for picnicing and camping, plus a very welcoming staff. What's not to like about this island?
Just go, you won't regret it! And if you can camp, campsite No. 6 has the best view of San Francisco. I had the best time here and would recommend it to anyone. Take a bicycle too!

Fantastic 360 view of the bay area from the top. I utilised the North ridge trail, first few steps from the harbour are a bit steep but the rest is a steady incline with some great outlooks. Not easy for someone lacking in fitness such as myself but manageable and we'll worth the view. The little cafe back down in the harbour is a decent recovery spot as well.

Great place for hiking with gorgeous views on San Francisco downtown and Golden Gate Bridge. It can be reached by ferries coming from San Francisco or Tiburon. So it limits time you can spend there. There are several camping sites where you can stay overnight.

I've lived here all my life and had never been on Angel Island. It's historical buildings and the history itself of the island is interesting. You can hike or do as I did, take a tram ride around the island with the history being told. I didn't have time to explore much off of the tram, but it was a beautiful day with scenic views of SF, Alcatraz and Tiburon, which is where we caught the ferry.

Angel Island Follies: attaching to the buoys in the moorage field often requires multiple tries at both ends of the boat! No applause needed. Monday afternoon was smoke free, Tuesday morning started smoggy; eyes, nose and throat were very irritated. Clearing began at North pier of GG bridge. The West wind pushed the smoke away all the way to Vallejo.

Beautiful. I highly recommend a loop hike either on foot or on bicycle 5 miles of spectacular scenery.
Angel Island is great fun to travel to. It is very fun to hike up Mt. Livermore and look at the view of San Francisco. Getting to the island is very easy as well. You can either pull up to the dock with your own private boat, or take the ferry from San Francisco, Sausalito, or Tiburon. The reason I am giving four stars instead of five is that I think dogs should be alowed on the Island, and on hot days there aren't enough slips to go into.
Watched the sunset from here. Stunning. Would love to return some day to explore.
Amazing views of San Francisco and the surrounding hills from the trails. Many of the historic buildings are in disrepair.
