Andover Leisure Centre Review

Miserable staff in reception and offices, don t reply to emails or answer the phone, one morning I tried ringing no answer I came in and asked what was wrong with the phone line the girl said nothing I then rang the reception in front of her from my phone and she was oh yeah it s switched off... but before she told me she was taking phone calls all morning? Lies.. the instructors and gym staff are friendly but the admin and reception need some serious training or new jobs. Classes always cancelled or full. I had a problem with a payment and they completely messed it up and ignored me several times, instead of enjoying my work outs and looking forward to exercising and coming in I was just getting frustrated not a nice environment! so I have finally decided to leave

You'll get fitter hiking to it as there is normally nowhere to park. Only TVBC would develop a leisure centre with almost no drop off parking. You have to park because with the new system you have to queue for a pass, even for pre-paid activities else you can't get to them.....I've moved them to other facilities now.

Really loving the distancing procedures the gym have put in place, lots of space, clear instructions on what to do, but it doesn't feel overwhelming and as long as you book early no problem getting on to a class

Swimming pool: Changing rooms were very clean and staff were polite. We only went in the small pool at the weekend, just a standard small pool but they put enough floats etc to make it fun and I noticed there was a big inflatable in the bigger pool. Also the centre has a softplay. Will be returning here and would recommend.

For all around value this is the best gym in Andover if you are someone who likes classes and swimming. I love classes and there are tons of them easily booked by the app which can be a bit dodgy at times. Parking can be a pain but is free after 4pm and is free in Lidl For 90mins so enough time to workout and buy something

Love the pool the cafe girls are so sweet- help me with my coffee and I end up having more!
Disappointed that the injury I had on my first swim hasn t been put into an accident book and the blinds are still in the disabled changing room!! I hope to god they don t fall

It's a new building very modern with facilities. Great pools. Very secure.

1. No one is picking up phones or responding to the voice messages
2. Online booking system is frustrating, definitely not user friendly.

the facilities are good but be wary of their opening times. they advertise as opening as normal on bank holidays but dont bother turning up till a random time later and just get a shrug of the shoulders for an apology. piss poor in that regard!

Last time I was there the swimming pool was closed, but the gym was open and the children's area too. I like Merlin's Kingdom, it's free for under 1 year old and safe. It was quiet but I've never been on a weekend. The cafe is very basic but it has healthy options like fruit or yogurt.

Swimming pool needs updating. Staff is always friendly

It's been 1 month since I was told I would be refunded for the two direct debits that have been taken out of my account in error since cancelling my membership (I was told it would take 7 working days!).
Still no refund, no correspondence and no answer to my emails. And no response to my official complaint!

Andover is growing at an alarming rate, so TVBC decide to tender out the Leisure centre. It's a lot smaller than the previous one, before you had ladies and gents gyms, with a separate weight room, now it's all in together. The changing facilities are minute, especially as the staff use the same ones the public do, some of the lockers are in public area's, not good if you want to shower ! The pool is a lot smaller, to get a decent swim you have to be an early bird or a night owl to avoid all the schools and clubs clogging up the times. It's also very expensive, you cannot split to say gym only or pool only.

We enjoyed the climbing wall. The pool is nothing special and the newly added splash pad is novel but feels a little like a shower area with some added water features and gets very crowded. The worst bit about this place is the lack of car parking facilities and having to pay and display.

Over priced for the swimming plus you have chose a pool you can't go in both i would rather go out of town for a different swimming pool

Great new pool but the queuing system for a 1 hour family swim session was mad. Meant that there was a rush on the changing rooms with those leaving and entering the pool at the same time. Particularly awkward with kids

Swimming pools too small..staff stare at you a lot with miserable faces.

Excellent new facilities good membership price if you want to tone up, this is the place to go

Closing down for 2 years in a busy town could have been thought out better

Went for a look around being new to the area. Girl on desk was first class and gave me all the time I needed. Looks a great centre and will be joining.

Disgusting, wouldn't even give one star. Was told on the phone when to come in for a family free swim. Walked 3 kids under two for the a swim session to be told their timetables are wrong and we can't swim!

They could have easily done so much more in this new swimming pool

What's the point in having a swimming pool when it's pretty much only used for classes. Surely at the very least it should be 50% public swim?

The receptionist was unhelpful and unwelcoming. Never had such a bad customer service there before.

The leisure centre itself is great and the classes are really good but the thing that let's it down is the awful booking app! Please invest some cash into improving this:(

Opening times over Christmas period are fantasy. Website indicates one time but actually being open is another thing. Poor management comms /no management from an effective monopoly

Nice and clean, but far too cold for younger children. My 20 month old s lips quickly turned blue! Bit shocked considering it was a family swim .

I had to edit my review and change from 4 to 3 stars...

The gym was recently ren vated so all facilities are new. There are a lot of classes, sauna and steam room, a swimming pool, gym and other activities like clip and climb.

It combines a lot but it lacks a bit in dedication or to state this different, the use of it might not indulge the user. Feedback for the pool is that is not big enough and can be used on limited hours by the public and the gym has limited weight machines. The gym is usually crowded with not enough equipment for the members... On top of that, one of the machines is broken over a month not not fixed yet.

Absolutely love it there! Great equipment super friendly and approachable staff! Would definitely recommend!

been trying to ring all day and i think staff members are social distancing from the phone's as no one has picked up nor called me back left a facebook message and to get an automated answer we will be in touch with in 3 days is this social distancing at its best

The gym has excellent facilities and the gym staff are friendly. The only let down is the parking facilities as you always have to pay to park.

There is no swimming pool. The booking on line and apps are erratic and not user friendly. The management do not respond to any complaints. However reception staff and class teachers are wonderful. Lack of senior management engagement makes the overall score low.

Average leisure centre but post refurb, it's worse than the old one except for the fact that the swimming pool is no longer upstairs and leaking.

The old squash courts were better because the middle wall on the new ones has a massive nick and moves without a locking feature, as well as having a different side wall bounce. Not to mention the numerous features that cause stuck balls and often dirty court floors.

The gym section seems ok but lacking in weights for squats etc. Only good for cardio machines unless you go when it is quiet. Again a downgrade compared to the old larger gym section.

I can't speak for badminton there but for swimming I know it's very hard to get a time you can come and swim freely, and even in those times it is too busy.

Overall, not very good but due to lack of competition in the area for sports, such as no other pools or squash courts, it's the only place to be for these things. Expensive membership too considering no free parking and that the parking is inadequate too.

I wouldn't go back here if you paid me. The reception team are so unfriendly, I literally walked out in tears on my first and last ever visit.

First visit to over 50s Peter Pan club. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very enjoyable time

It's an old, small town leisure centre that is well past being modernised, but it does the job. The pool is okay, the health spa is okay, the gym is actually pretty decent. I believe they're rebuilding it soon. Don't expect to be wowed, but you can get the "job done".

The swimming pool is too small and there's only two hours or so a day for public swim, it's open for 16 hours a day! Joke

Swimming pool is literally never open for public swim!!!! Every pool I've ever known is available more often than not. Not Andover! Here you can swim very early in the morning or really late at night!! Greedy people making money from classes!

Great facility - but no dedicated parking! Factor in the parking fee if you join.

Used a swimming pool facilities during summer. Pay as you go. Very clean. Modern and safe. Staff very attentive.

The squash courts really could do with a good lick of paint but overall reasonably good

Clean ,pool wasn't packed which was great.Just wish there were more sessions in the week. Maybe from 3 in the afternoon be good.21:00 bit late for lane swimming.

Poor staff always miserable and the pool is too cold (when it s available for the public)!

We visited this place today Sunday 1st March to watch our great grandson Ted play in the under fives football,he done well winning the player of the day diploma, I take my hat off to the coaches that supervise these sessions each Sunday, they do a wonderful job, we then had a coffee with our future daughter in law Jade Ted and baby Max, nice morning all round.

Aqua Zumba was outstanding, who would have thought exercise could be so much fun!

Awful staff- uninterested and slow. Customer service from manager was awful. I wasn t told that I d have to cancel my three monthly membership, she said it automatically ended. I ended up paying for a further 3 months, and was declined a refund with insufficient reasoning. Don t use them, definitely don t recommend.

Absolute shambles. Kids lessons are good. Swimming pool is always over crowded. Travelled in to find it was an hours wait for swimming. We then decided to pay for the climbing wall only to find out my son couldn't go of after another 35 minute wait, because he had a hood on! If there was rules displayed I would have know this. Avoid like the plague.

Impressed so far, daughter started swimming lessons and the instructors are brilliant. I do think the membership needs reviewing to allow all elements to be included, like badminton/squash. Let's see what the place looks like in years to come.

Another great group cycle glass this morning. Love the new bikes. Fantastic pool. Excellent range of classes to suit all abilities.

Kindda miss the old leisure centre as they have downsized every part they used to have although I love the climbing walls it was a shame to loose depth to the pool reducing it from 3 meters for the deep end to about 6ft for the deep end and have a reduced size gym if only they kept to the 3 floor idea and had separate sections for the gym so people don't feel awkward about working out
