I have spent a very depressing month arguing with Andark. I dropped some regulators off with them, asking whether they could service them, and if so, how much it would cost.
The initial 'maximum' estimate of 150 pounds was beyond my budget so I told them that I wanted to have the regulators back. Andark responded that I could have the regulators back but they had been taken apart and they wouldn't be put back together for me.
I argued that I had only asked for a price quote and hadn't authorised any work to be done. The manager at Andark told me that a service technician can't quote on the cost of performing a regulator service job without taking them to pieces first. This is utter nonsense.
So the service proceeded with a 'maximum' price of 195 pounds for the job. When the service was completed, it had risen to 250 pounds (a lot more than I would have chosen to spend). Which I had to pay to get my regulators back.
I only asked for a price quote. They had no right to take my regulators to pieces without my permission.
I did learn, along the way, that they farm out all their servicing to another firm. Clearly that relationship is problematic but as a customer I should not have been treated so dishonestly.
