ANA Hotel Sydney Review

Great check in, quick and courteous, lovely room, bathroom superb, all very clean and tidy. Blu bar level 36 a bit disorganised, no one at check in when arrived then asked for a seat only to be told there was a 45 minute wait list, not offered a chance to go on wait list, told to go to standing room bar, only one bar man, gave up waiting for service, went back to ask to go on wait list and was then ushered to Lounge chair. When asked if we could move to window seat, we were told we need to be on a wait list!!!! The staff seemed confused which made the patrons feel confused, everyone wants a window seat obviously with the superb view offered but to secure one seemed rather difficult, otherwise loved everything else.

There were multiple issues with the facilities within the room. The technician that came was great, although not successful at fixing the problem. However the security personnel that accompanied him was very opinionated and a bit rude.

Great place to stay! Go for rooms with a view of opera house and sydney harbour!

Great hotel with lovely suites. Only negative was the water was only just warm in shower and bath.

Everything was great just except when I arrived, the room was not ready and I have to wait for 10 mins and I was arrived after 3pm

Fantastic weekend stay celebrating a special birthday. Outstanding service, especially taking into account extra COVID-19 requirements. We really appreciated them going the extra mile and delivering complimentary champagne and chocolate to our room to celebrate, and the Winter package was fantastic value including $100 room credit, free valet parking, early check in and late check out. In room breakfast was delicious (although $10 for a tiny bottle of orange juice seemed a bit steep!). Great service checking out too, ensuring we weren't double charged for a movie that froze halfway, luggage collected from our room and car promptly brought around for our departure. We loved the room - it was spacious and well laid out with a great view. The armchair and desk chair were both super comfy, and there was lots of closet and drawer space, plus a light in the closet. Full length mirror in the hall plus mirror and bench in the main room, as well as the bathroom vanity and a magnified shaving mirror made it easy for 2 people to get ready for a night out without getting in each other's way. Overall a great stay. We will definitely come back.

The greeting we recieved from the moment we arrived was incredible, special thanks to Sarah who went above and beyond for us, we had an amazing experience and i congratulate the management for top down best service i have ever seen.

Great location to restaurants and shopping good in-house service. Was sick and the concierge arrange a doctor and help me get the prescription from the pharmacy.
Will recomen to anyone.

Occasional queues for the elevators. Area around the hotel is hilly, take a taxi if you have luggage.

Clean room, comfy bed, and amazing harbour view from the room. The staff at cafe mix are very nice and attentive. Front desk could be better.

We had a lovely stay. We had a late flight home so we were given a late check out and were able to come back after a day exploring Sydney to have a swim and shower before picking up our bags and flying home. All the staff were lovely to deal with.

Room was excellent, it was exactly as what i saw in pictures.

ALL staff were lovely, went out of there way and left chocolates and wine for us to celebrate our anniversary!

Location is awesome, waking distance to everything we needed.

I felt the morning buffet was a little bland but apart from that i was very happy overall. Will definitely visit again.

Very good Hotel, quiet rooms. Select one with a view to the Opera. Air-conditioning in the rooms is inaudible, which is great. Breakfast buffet is very good, seating area is pretty small and stuffed however. All in all very much recommended.

Sangri-La Hotel, Sydney is a wonderful hotel. The staff are very accommodating and provide exceptional service. If you need to find something in the hotel, the staff will take the time to walk you to what you are looking for, rather than just point you in the direction. It s not worth me taking a star away, but when we drained our bathtub the waste water cane up through the floor drain and flooded our bathroom. I m a plumbing contractor, so I though it was a little funny it happened to me, on the 19th floor of one of the nicest hotels in Sydney.

Love the view both harbour side and opera house side.
Our room was perfect for my gf birthday. She loved and satisfied. The course menu at the roof top restarant was perfect. But lightly dark at evening time. Marvelous window however the price has big difference between window side seats and normal seats. They might charge you $300 deposit for window seats. For the normal seats are still close to window seats.

Perfect place for a company event. With a marvelous view as well.

Room is great with great harbour view. But it is located up on a hill, so it is very difficult and tiring to go there especially with luggage!

Stunning sunset views over Sydney harbour area. Ideally you want to be on the right hand side of the bar to look out on the harbour. Worth it, even though drinks are relatively expensive.

Great views from Opera house and Circular Quay side, as well as the Darling Harbour side! Request a corner room, if possible, which includes a living room area and great corner windows. Very nice accommodations!

love the view and the service but the beds and pillows are very disappointing!

Excellent location to watch Sydney whilst having a drink

Great stay here a few months ago. Really nice place, good food. The bar upstairs is one of the best views in Sydney. 180 degree view of the city.

We absolutely LOVED our stay : ) EVERYthing from the room, the service, the cleanliness, the extra friendliness of the staff.. We felt more than welcome.. Ohhhh and the Spa... FABULOUS !

Philippine food festival was delicious, but was poorly explained and advertised. For example I didn't realise it was a buffet dinner until i got there. I didn't know what the dinner times were either. There was no way to see which booking times were still available online. I'm hoping the experience next year will be better.

The service and amenities were outstanding. I had a US visitor with me who wanted to see Sydney whilst in Australia. He's not a very mobile man. As soon as we arrived the service was started and was faultless: Nothing was a problem. The Harbour room view blew my US friend away: he stared at it for some time. The service at the lounge (on 30th floor) was subtle but attentive. Altitude was a bit of a miss for dinner as my friend has his heart set on Lobster but the choices were limited - I didn't eat my desert as it wasn't really what I ordered. Sage (our wiater) tried very hard to help but the issue wasn't his, it was the kitchens.

Everything was outstanding. The Horizon club was fantastic and spared not details. When visiting Sydney I will always choose Shangri La.

Hotel staff pleasant and efficient, rooms are very good with really comfortable beds and good facilities. Restaurant has wide range of good meals and always enjoyable. Location is great and panoramic view over Opera house from 35th floor.

We received a room upgrade to a room with a view of both the Opera House & Harbour Bridge - stunning. Our room was very well appointed - older styling but charming. With walking distance of Circular Quay & all thats happening there. Hotel staff very friendly & helpful.

Overall the hotel is very nice and the staff is friendly.
Prices are a bit high for room service, etc, but that's to be expected.
Decor is a little dated but the hotel is super clean, comfortable and quiet.

Always a nice stay at the Shangri-La. Had a mix-up on the room location and was able to upgrade once to the hotel. Room was clean and comfy. Disappointed with spa experience, but that is not a reflection on the hotel.

Experience was fantastic - two points of constructive feedback:

1) Lifts are far too slow
2) Rooms need freshening up

Very nice staff. Good view of harbor and opera House. Food was top notch. Quiet luxurious rooms

Good service, a lovely bed that made me sleep well, and a good view. Accessible to where the action is including a Catholic Church nearby, so location is part of the premium you're paying for. Only glitch was the toiletries/amenities lacked toothpaste, cotton buds when we arrived late night.

Hotel is fantastic and in great location at the Rocks overlooking the opera house. Rooms a good size and very clean. All staff really friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone if the budget fits as is a little pricey but worth it.

High tea in Sydney

Best way to enjoy high tea is in a Hotel with an amazing pastry chef.
Anna Polyviou hides in the Shangri La and makes beautiful and tasty desserts in Sydney.

Make sure you keep an eye out for their themed high tea, it changes based on Holidays and seasons. Currently it's Anna's Easter Garden from April 1st untill April 29th. Bring the kids, the garden is amazing like Alice in Wonderland ... Or shall I say Anna in Wonderland

Myself and my friend booked the executive grand harbour view room for my birthday and the experience was first class!
The service from the hotel, Altitude restaurant and Blu bar was amazing. Especially how the hotel went above and beyond with my birthday by having birthday cake waiting in the room with handmade truffles as well as the fruit bowl. It's the little things!

Our room was very nice. No complaints there. My issue has more to do with the service we received from your team members. Up at the 36th Floor Bar we felt like the bartenders did a poor job of coming up to us and asking what we wanted. Even when the bar was not that busy, we had bartenders that ignored our presence. The same thing happened in the Sky Lounge. The man that was taking orders for drinks and dropping off bowls of nuts completely ignored us for the first 10 minutes. Finally, I had to flag him down and tell him we wanted drinks.

Magnificent views of circular quay, opera and harbor bridge. Ideal to finish the day and see the sun go down. Rate at the height of the view. Be careful of your outfit before getting on.

Excellent stay; the staff were extremely professional and friendly. We also got great value for money with b'fast and parking included in our stay.

The interior of the room, the bed and the view were also great. I was very relaxed. I can hear the sound of the TV even in the bathroom, but I think it would be nice if I could make the bathroom volume smaller. In addition, drainage of the sink was bad. Dirty water did not flow easily when brushing teeth. However, I felt good with the staff, so I would like to stay again if there is an opportunity.

The room was wonderful and the breakfast is well worth it in the package, great food and service. The only draw backs were the unavailability of the spa treatment services. When we went down there to see if we could make a booking the staff were less than helpful with trying to book us in, in the end we didn t get to do that part of our trip. But, the hotel is beautiful and the rest of the staff we met were great!

Delicious cocktail at Blu bar. Music in the lounge was croony and too loud. Saxophones are a no.

Very disapointed with the opera house view room we booked. Only had partial views of the Opera House. Had to upgrade to get a proper view of the the Opera House and the vivid light show. Not happy Jan. Room should be listed as partial view Opera House view not Opera House Deluxe, with land mark and city views.

It was our honeymoon and every staff member went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Very professional.

Weekend just spent here. Cannot fault our stay - uber clean, beautifully appointed, lots of towels, comfy bed and pillows, killer view and our room was roomy. Great location for walking access to The Rocks, Circular Quay & Barrangaroo. Easy check in/out. Helpful staff. Will be back!

Very nice hotel. The bathroom plays a tune to celebrate your arrival. A bit sad they didn't have an iPhone charger.

It's always such a shame when you attend a conference and the hospitality staff don't communicate. Haven't stayed here but it's convenient to Sydney and tourist attractions.

Such an accommodating hotel, we were upgraded to a room with a beautiful view for free! Staff are lovely and make an effort to make your stay enjoyable.
