Went to the bar and lounge. Drinks and views of the city were great. Vibe in the lounge was definitely more chilled and relaxed. Would recommend, especially tourists from out of Sydney in need of a drink and tour in one.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shangri-La for our anniversary. Everything about our stay was perfect - the service from staff members, the warm welcome, the room and amenities, the location. We particularly want to thank Agus for his excellent service and kindness at our check in. Shangri-La has become our new favourite hotel in Sydney!

Hi, I mentioned a couple of things on checkout, compliments to Gaina who checked me in very efficiently. There were a few minor things in the room 2319, the toilet seat is mounted slightly crooked, no USB charging ports, I could not for the life of me get the bluetooth connection on the panel next to the TV to work! None of these detracted from my stay which was very enjoyable, I used to use Shangri La a lot but for various reasons migrated to staying in Sofitel and Intercontinental where I have Platinum and Ambassador status respectively which gives me various benefits.
Efficient and knowledgeable Bar staff in Blu where I had a customised "Le formidable" Tanqueray instead of Bombay Sapphire and Absinthe instead of Chambord with a sprig of mint added. V expensive but delicious!
Keep up the good work.

We enjoyed our stay at the shangri-la very much. It was our anniversary and we received an unexpected gift from reception after informing them it was our anniversary. A nice bottle of wine and chocolates went down well. I will definitely be coming back again.

Excellent service by all staff and the view is the best.
Tea and coffee supplies in room had not been fully replaced, coffee cups and wine glass were missing. They were quickly attended to following call to guest services.

The only negative was the pressing of my suit , unfortunately There is a small damage due to using the pressing technique in wrong way ... as they tried to explain to me what s happened
Hope the Luandry team can achieve better technique and method to avoid such damage for others.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and chose the same category room as our wedding night. This time we had the time to enjoy the amazing view and some of your amenities as well as the city.

We had a fantastic stay, the huge bonus was the fabulous views from our corner suite on level 19. That was the biggest draw card for us. Our room was spectacular we didn t want to leave the room for our daily pursuits . Only had a couple of minor issues with housekeeping(weekend), but they were sorted very quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for the numerous staff that we liaised with in the different areas of the hotel. Would certainly come back. And have raved on about the hotel to family and friends. Well done.

The room was great with the view we wanted. Check in and check out were also good. However we were not impressed with level 36. We went up to see the lights and was told that we could only go to the small area in front of the bar and no lights. Vivid was on and even your food section was closed. We obviously came the wrong time as we saw no lights had 1 drink and left. We then went to the Cafe and my Wife wanted Singapore chilli crab but were told that was not available. Overall we enjoyed our 2 days but would not rush to return to the hotel.

We had a wonderful pre Christmas stay. The hotel was exceptionally busy and yet staff took the time to welcome us back and make our visit very enjoyable.
Lo took time to come to the horizon lounge to say hello. Her beaming smile as always infectious.
Shiek made us feel special on each of our visits to the horizon lounge. In the lounge it was wonderful to see young man and woman being trained. They were nervous in a good way, eager to learn and look after the guests.
We will return again in 2020.

It was amazing, we spent 2 nights for our anniversary. Considering the current situation with COVID 19 we nearly cancelled but we were assured that it was fine for us to come. We had book a horizon club room and we were delivered everything to our room. It was the best 2 days or isolation I have ever had. I can t thank the staff for their care and their service enough.

The staff and the way we were treated was beyond anything we could of hoped for.

Very artificial. Strange clients. Atmosphere reminds of mafia movies. If you like sterile environments with no soul - absolutely. I have nothing against the service or facilities. Just not for me.

I was given a room on Level 5 with very limited views (despite booking a Harbour View room) so I paid additional $$$ to get a room on Level 19. Awesome views. The room itself wasn't as awesome. Despite being one of the most premium rooms (Grand Premier), I thought it wasn't worthy of 5 stars. Standard amenities, no magazines in the room (so many drawers but they're all empty!), water leaking out of the shower, old/tired carpets and furnitures, outdated TV. It was quite noisy too, not sure what it was but there was this almost constant humming sound coming from the room next door (or from inside the walls). I had in-room breakfast and it was just ok. Definitely overpriced. I ordered bircher muesli with milk and yoghurt but got no milk or yoghurt. And they charged $10 for all in-room orders too. For the price, I wouldn't be going back anytime soon. I've stayed at 4-star hotels that were way better. You're paying for the views I suppose so if that's what you're after, then you won't be disappointed.

We stayed there with my wife for two nights whilst visiting Sydmey for the first time.
This is a great base to visit CBD and take boat trips around Sydney, the view on the harbour is amazing from the rooms.
The service was good but not excellent which is what I usually expect from 5-star in general and Shangri-la hotels in particular. Staff should probably get better trained to the 5-star standard like not forgetting an breakfast order or not letting a customer carry 4 bags by himself when he arrives.

I could not speak any higher of the stay, service, and staff at Shangri-La. We had such a great time and absolutely cannot wait until the next time we stay there. We are local to Sydney, but already looking forward to the next excuse to stay there!

Wonderful hotel with an excellent view. The top floor of the Shangri-La has a restaurant and bar that overlooks the Sydney Harbor. The rooms are spacious and well kept. Overall excellent hotel.

We stayed three nights (room only) on floor 19 with a great view of the harbour, but not of the harbour bridge or the opera house. That wasn't a problem though because both of those architectural icons were a short walk away. Our room was luxurious in the traditional style and the room service was faultless. A most enjoyable stay

A lovely stay. Comfy bed, beautiful bathroom. Superb value lunch in Altitude. The only negative was the wait for the lifts. Way too long, but I understand that they were being refurbished and some were out of action.

The ultimate way to judge a business in the hospit...

The ultimate way to judge a business in the hospitality industry is by how they react when they do something wrong. Do they apologise and try and make things better or do they ignore the problem and hope it goes away? I can think of experiences where restaurants have actually gone up in my esteem because of the positive way they have reacted to a negative event.

I can't say that about the Shagri-la Sydney.

I flew into Sydney on Monday morning. I was arriving early after a long flight. I booked for and paid for a room from the night before. This was to ensure my room was available as soon as I arrived. I knew I would want to sleep. I made sure my agent made sure the hotel knew and didn't think I was a no-show.

The hotel knew about me but I didn't know about the hotel. I didn't know that the hotel was doing a major fire alarm check at noon on Monday. Of course, if the hotel had told me I would have gone somewhere else. Instead they let me pay for a room and then they woke me up with the enormous din.

Now, for the sake of clarity, I welcome hotels doing fire drills and testing alarms. This check was just to ensure the alarms were working. They could have told me when they reserved my room but they didn't. They waited until I had arrived after a 24 hour flight and after I had fallen into a deep sleep and they let their (understandably) deafening resounding sound go on and on and on.

As I left the room that afternoon I mentioned to the front desk that I thought I should have been warned in advance. Someone took details and promised to get someone to revert. Later that day I was able to reduce my stay (my business was done) by 2 night. I phoned the service centre and they saw the notes and kindly asked whether they could get a manager to phone me. I resisted that as I was concerned that I would be woken again - they asked if an email may be better - I confirmed this would be much better.

That was 3 days ago. I still have heard nothing.

Is this the sort of standard I can expect from Shangri-La?

Another day I need something printed. I phoned the Service Centre and they said I could email them. I did this at 3.21 am and at 4.23 am phoned to check what was happening. They confirmed they had received my email. They had obviously decided that a wait of an hour was appropriate. A good job that it wasn't a busy time.

Great views, friendly staff, excellent location. Hotel is showing signs of age, check in took a long time, arrival/reception area was rather unremarkable, the room we were allocated was dirty but hotel manager was quick to change and upgrade.

Everything was around the 4-star level, which is fine, but it sure wasn't at the $530 a night (including parking) level. It wasn't bad in any way, but it should have been a lot better than not bad. TVs without streaming; speakers without Bluetooth; bath without jets; no USB charging ports; broken equipment in the gym; leaking ceiling in the gym; lacklustre breakfast buffet (powdered eggs instead of omelette bar? ten-yr-old coffee machine instead of barista?).

We've stayed in cheaper places with far better facilities. The only thing you have going for you is the view, and you use it to justify utter sloppiness in every other facet of your business whilst charging premium prices.

Also, $8 for a bottle of Evian?? How have you not made enough money off your guests by the time they get into their room that you can't afford to just give them a $2 bottle??

Nope. Sorry, but there are several better places to stay in Sydney than this tired, outdated hotel. The other places strive to be best. You're overcharging whilst resting on your views & your laurels.

My sister and I had such a lovely stay, service was amazing, food lovely. It has become a tradition to celebrate my late mothers birthday each year with a stay in the horizon club as it was the way we celebrated it the year before she died. The staff at the Shangri la have always made an effort to make this a special occasion.

I paid an incredible amount of money to stay 2 nights on the 35th floor for a special birthday only to stay in a room which had no shower pressure & lacked hot. As well as not being properly cleaned.
To be told yes you're on a high floor so water pressure is difficult.

Not the 5 star experience I paid so much for, would rate it a 3.

I have never personally stayed at a 5 star hotel, ...

I have never personally stayed at a 5 star hotel, due to my daughters first birthday we saved for a long time to be able to do something we never have and that was stay at a 5 star hotel and take her to the zoo for the day. When booking I requested an earlier check in and if anything could be done for my daughters 1st birthday as a surprise for my daughter and partner. Upon arrival at around 1pm check in took a very long time and the request for the early check in was not even read or considered. I asked for that earlier check in and they took my phon number, my daughter was ready for a sleep so we sat in reception and waited. No phone call so I went up and asked if our room was ready to which it was so unsure how long it was actually ready for. I will note here also not one person actually wished our daughter happy birthday over our 2 night stay. When your paying such high rates I thought this would of been taken on board and some nice touch made as other hotels make a big deal out of these milestones.

We brought our own portable cot and on our first night we called reception just before going out to dinner to see if they could bring some sheets up for the cot to which they said they would do, we went out for dinner and came back again with a daughter ready for bed to which when we arrived back to the room we found our door left open, we walked inside luckily nothing taken, the blinds and bed pulled back yet no sheets for our daughter so another phone call was needed. This took a very long time for the sheets to be delivered so again service very poor when paying such big amounts to stay here.

On her actual birthday as mentioned nothing was done or mentioned the entire day, we thought we would go up for an early drink on the top level to which we were turned away as it was full. I advised we were a hotel guest and it was my daughters birthday and we would not be long however we were put at the end of the list and asked if we would like a call when they could fit us in. I declined and we went elsewhere to celebrate.

There was blood also on our Doona, not on the cover but was noticeable through the gab. With something so visible we thought that this would be cleaned and not in use at such a hotel.

As said this was our first 5 star hotel experience and it was by far one of my lowest hotel experiences. I could of stayed in a 1 star hotel and got the service I received from your hotel.
