What a great place to take the family! Old Economy hosts tons of events to showcase this beautiful place. The gardens are amazing, and hearing the stories of how the Harmonists lived is very interesting. Be sure to check out the wine cellar while doing a tour of this beautiful property!

Interesting quirk of history with great tour guides in period dress. Delighted they thought science was important enough to include a natural history museum in their gathering hall. The wine cellar is crazy deep!

Old Economy Village is a very relaxing place. All of Ambrige was once Old Economy. This museum is a step back in time where life was not so complex. You get back to nature here where the people are real instead of people playing you because they do not want to work to obtain anything of value.People at Old Economy Village have higher standards then the people who do not appreciate the museum.

What can I say. This area is just okay. There isn't too much clarity on which buildings are historical "old economy" or not. The staff were, however, very kind! And the chilly museum was a welcome reprise from the swelter outside!

Left in the Cold for Christmas Dinner

Left in the Cold for Christmas Dinner

In October, my wife, a 17 year teacher, made reservations for the Dec. 6th, 2017 Christmas Dinner at Old Economy.

Since then, our two daughters (9 & 13yrs old) and my wife have been excited to go to this dinner and enjoy the festivities.

Only to be informed that somehow, they did not process our reservation. They offered to make room for my wife and I, but not our girls. Somehow, during the discussion with Jason, who runs it, the blame has been placed back on us...??? Five hours before the dinner?????

What a shame that a good, multi-year membership has been tarred by this kind of terrible customer/member service.

I received a call back from Michael, who was far more professional in his approach, however he did not make any offer to correct the situation either.

It should be noted that I moved other people's schedules today to accommodate us attending this evening.

Truly a great example how customer/member service can mar a relationship in spite of the great facility.

Super cool place. Love the atmosphere...parking is on street only so that was rough.. we came at 5pm and they said they were open till 9pm but were out of food at each house. However, i was able to purchase some xmas gift items at the vendor tables which was my complete goal! . Not sure what the 10$ charge per person was..? it didnt get us anything as opposed to ppl that didnt pay...a donation i guess ? which is fine by me bc i love it there. Very educational for grade school age children ...thats what i did years ago with my kids that are now 21 and 17yo. History

Was up.here looking for a house that the person was advertising on Craigslist, got lost. Street signs suck, streets are unmarked one way. No house numbers. I went home. Didn't get what I wanted, or even find the house!!

My wife and I went on a Wednesday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The workers and volunteers provided personal tours and made our experience amazing. Great piece of History hidden in plain sight. Amazing artifacts including artworks and woodwork.

The village provides a respite from the modern world. The well preserved buildings and grounds give a glimpse of life of 150 years ago. It should be a required visit for anyone interested in the history of Western Pennsylvania. They have year round events that add to the charm.

Quite a unique not well known place not far from pittsburgh. Located in ambridge, this museum offers a day of exploring the rich german history of the harmony society. Their utopia way of life attracted 3 u. s. Presidents as well as other historic fugures. Theres alot of things that may not exist today if it wasnt for the investments of this cult like religious village. Definitely a must see and an opportunity to learn and discover how it all came to be and what caused its demise

You get the authentic mid 1800's and how community and each person had a meaningful job. They remind me of bee's. If it is a small job it still matters because without it we would not get the final product!!

It was my second visit. I love history. The docents are very knowledgable and answered all the questions that people asked. I find it very walkable. The garden behind the Rapp house is very pretty.

I was just recently given a tour of Old Economy Village, and loved every minute of it. My tour guide, Barb, was fantastic and very passionate about the history of the Harmonist Society and what they have left behind. This was my first visit to the site and I did not realize the extent of the village. My personal favorite building of the tour was the wine cellar and the sample of bread that came from the outdoor oven (the whole tour is very interactive). The Feast Hall was also impressive and the acoustics were amazing. All in all, it is hard to pick a favorite because all of the buildings on the tour were interesting in their own ways and really depict the wealth of history that is embodied by Old Economy Village. I recommend this attraction for all ages!

Just visiting the visitor's Center and the Museums within it were worth our time.. it was raining so walking around the village was not possible. I bought a wonderful garden tote that was made on the property demonstrating how tools from the early 1800's were used. This garden tote will last forever. We will be back again.
