Update 2018: Now that the problem children of upper management are gone, things are looking much better!

Original post 2016: The stability of this agency is very questionable. I feel sorry for the good people in this agency that will be effected by its shortcomings. :(

Union workplace seeks to ensure the best care of not only the people they serve, but the employees who serve them. In business for over 45 years, their end goal for every person served, is to see them achieve maximum independence in their existence. Endless Possibilities is in their mission statement. Go ask them about how your loved one can experience more !!!

Alvord Taylor is a great place to work if you want...

Alvord Taylor is a great place to work if you want an entry level job where they don't drug test. You will pay for needing a job like that with constant abuse by both clients and staff. You can be fired for anything in the first year at any time and the Union doesn't help you.
In response to all the comments about Mr. Fox being gone and that has improved the company I would like to state that his effects still linger. Alvord Taylor had to give back company cars they needed for clients and give up homes for individuals which forced them to move. THEY ALSO CONTINUED TO PAY MR. FOX A SIX FIGURE SALERY OVER A YEAR AFTER THEY SUPPOSEDLY GOT RID OF HIM.
This company also goes through a patch every year where they almost go out of buisness so it's hard to feel they offer any job security.
If you are thinking of applying as a dissabled individual or for a dissabled family member keep in mind that the system for background checks that they use is unreliable and the entire company tends to run understaffed. In fact, I just saw an outing at Walmart from one of their houses that was three individuals (one wheelchair bound) with ONE aide!
In summation, this company does not stand behind their employees and does not fully support their supported individuals. Beware!

The employees are more about themselves than what ...

The employees are more about themselves than what they're there for. Just about everything goes on in those homes. Especially Martha Court. It all reflects the house managers and the dinks that hire them. The company is failing and can only be saved by another company that wants to get involved. I was an honest employee that did my job well but was ousted because I didn't get along with the other staff and my house manager was an ex employee that I used toworked with. After quitting, I informed upper management of "everything that goes on" at Martha Court and they couldn't have cared less....unreal.

Update April 2018: Now that Mr. Fox is no longer ...

Update April 2018: Now that Mr. Fox is no longer part of the organization, things are looking brighter! There are so many positive changes being made and the organization is being revived! The organization is becoming a place I'd be proud to work for again.

Original Review in early 2017: Let me start out by saying it is hard to remain professional when speaking of this company but I will try my best to do so while getting my point across.

The #1 problem here is the Executive Director, (Mr. Fox). He puts on a "front" to the Board of Directors, during All-Staff Meetings and during the Company parties such as summer picnics and Christmas parties. But on a day-to-day basis he is a bully! He curses at staff and during meetings, raises his voice to an inappropriate level, demonstrates very poor communication including selective listening, interrupts you when you're talking, breaches confidentiality, gossips, doesn't seek information for a full picture when incidents/events occur and gives off a very intimidating form of body language. This man is detrimental to this organization.

Because of the way the Executive Director treats people, the administration turn over is excruciatingly high! Just in the last 12 months, that I can recall, they have lost: 13 key Administration Staff/Managers (Including Program Coordinators, Program Managers, a few HR staff, Operations Manager) and countless DSP's.

Much of the staff that work there are amazing people! My immediate co-workers were incredible! Their dedication to the Individuals is outstanding, however, that dedication results in them working countless hours of overtime. This organization contributes to the poor health of employees and crumbling of families due to the pressure and stress the Executive Director puts on them. They are hard workers despite the constant beat-down from the Executive Director and his select few "puppets" (who will likely see the light one day). The worst part of all is that he has sheltered and lied to the Board of Directors so much that they refuse to listen to any current or former staff about these issues.

My heart hurts for the Individuals that are supported by this agency because they are ultimately the ones that will hurt when this ship sinks...and it will sink one day. The company is structurally and financially unstable.

I ignored reviews when I started there and I wished I hadn't. If you read this and still decide to take a job with them, please PLEASE be sure you document situations. I guarantee you they will happen and you will be glad you documented things when it crumbles! I know I am!

I've done a variety of work in my life, this is my favorite job so far. I can't imagine more rewarding or fulfilling work. I don't mean you'll get rich just that when you clock out at the end of the day you know you did something good and helped someone in a meaningful way. I think that kind of fulfillment is priceless.

The people who work here and the people who are supported by this company are amazing.

The road has been a rocky one the last few months, through a close knit group and people dedicated to making lives better have done just that. They have given thier time and energy into making this company better, strong and ready for the future. I can't wait to see what adventures come our way.
