The fresh, neighborhood Italian sub tradition lives on at Alpine. From the traditional Italian grocery fare to the man bringing out a pyramid of freshly baked loafs of bread every 10 minutes, to the smiles and friendly banter where "everybody knows your name." It's a gem.
The sandwich I had was delicious, but the amount of meat was maybe half of one of their competitors "notolli. The people who work there are very welcomeing. .this was my first time in there ,but I probably won't go back for the reason that ,there is not enough meat on the sandwiches. .I will stick to nottoli

Don't believe the hype. Small. Limited selection. Caputo's is much better.
Every food group in one bite. Good price. Fast service. Friendly.
Hey Marvin it's not about race just because you're black and you didn't want to wait don't mean everyone is racist. Grow up
Well Marvin I am to African American I've been coming here for about 20 years now I have never noticed anything racist about anyone in the store as a matter of fact I'm eating a alpine right now. It's an Italian sandwich shop I don't think any of them toast subs if you want a toasted sub I think you should stick with subway and have a sandwich with the meat processed in a factory. Sorry you felt that way brother.
Always loved their sandwiches, but does it hurt for the ladies to smile a bit. I understand life doesn't always give us lemon juice but we could try hard not to make it sour don't we? Sheez smile ladies!
This restaurant is my first choice site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I I need a decent lunch, this is the place that comes instantly to my head. outstanding and all kinds of food and a rich cuisine.well mannered staff members, and agreeable ambience. Not less important, the charge is decent. I sent my friends to this restaurant with no hesitation.
Can't get enough of their sub sandwich I probably go there 3 times a week...great staff great sub and very clean....
GreAT
Food
I did not realize that if you did not want oil on your sandwich, you got nothing. I just thought they would add mustard or mayo instead. So both my sandwiches were dry and somewhat tasteless. No need to go back.
Best italian sub i ever had. And very clean. Cant ask for nothing else
Very good sub sandwiches nice place with very friendly people
Great place to grab things you need when you don't want to go to the store. Owners are very nice.
I like very much but the bread actually is not good!
Very nice and friendly staff! fresh and delicious Sub sandwiches!! My favorite!
Love these sammichs and 2nd location in Westchester!
By far, the Alpine sandwich beats every other sub in Chicago! It hasn't changed since 1955 and I recommend ordering it with extra tomatoes and Italian oil.
Their potato salad is worth a trip to Chicago alone! When I travel from CHI to ATL, everyone always asks, "Did you bring some of that amazing potato salad with you?". Yes, I normally bring 8lbs worth and the TSA folks have a fit.
They have great Italian subs and they make pretty good meat sauce.
A classic in the near West suburbs. Get the Alpine sub, you won't regret it.
Better subs than all the guy who advertise !
By far !
order the alpine sub with a pickle and some potato salad, you'll thank me later! :)
I absolutely love this place! The Alpine is so good. Great prices and very friendly staff.
My family has been buying Alpines for as long as I can remember. We cater it for many events, everyone always loves it. It's always a magical treat for us. Never had a bad experience or bad sandwich from there. I'm not sure what sets these subs aside from the rest, but it's a family favorite and the last sandwhich is always battled over.
Hidden gem. Love their sub sandwiches - especially the Alpine sandwich. So yummy.
If you want a nice shopping experience with good quality foods, I highly recommend visiting Alpine! No matter when you go in, someone greets you with a friendly welcome! Even when crowded, that personal welcome NEVER gets missed!
The food will speak for itself; their subs, salads and customer service are my favorites!
Great service, unique flavor. And reasonable prices. I tried the sandwiches and they are great. But they also have some hidden surprises there, like some cookies that are awesome.
Alpine's is a great Submarine shop that I know that's over 35 years right across street from the Catholic Church it is a great place to go eat a submarine on the Northside of Chicago in Elmwood Park everytime I'm on that side of town I always make it my business stop over and get a sandwich right down the street from Johnnie's Beef stand
Extremely fresh subs. Bread is very important when it comes to a sandwich and that dressing too, OH MY GOD!
Awesome sandwiches. My favorite is the signature Apline. Great friendly service. Go Bonos!
Very international market. Interesting going down the aisles checking out all the different products. Great place for lunch.
Delicious subs, especially the Alpine! And as everyone else has been saying, you come in and get greeted by a friendly staff! Don't forget all the other items they offer as well...the meatballs ( needs thawing) are really good; sometimes there is no need to make your own. If you want to support a local business, Alpine is definitely one of the go-to places!
Great sandwiches. Very good veggie sandwich. Pasta salad is good too.
Large Alpine Sub. Extra oil. Bucket-listish II. Walk there from Johnnies.
The sub are very good here. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they have raised the prices and the meat portions are less. Also they did not have the same assortments of side as they use to have.
The Alpine is the best! Great prices and food! A serious must try
One of those places you stop at even if your not hungry.
All I can say is yum! The sandwiches, meatballs, sausage and the potato salad just delicious!
This place is my favorite. Alpine is a God s Italian Sub, everything is fresh and taste like heaven. People there are active and welcoming.
