Heavenly scents of spices & taste testing is an absolute must if you stop by. Friendly employees and prices are very comparable to Amazon or elsewhere. Spices are sold in glass jars or various gift sets; there's plenty of small gift idea items to be found too. Would recommend this shop visit for any home cook or foodie alike.
Spice and flavored oil selection is wonderful. The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable about gluten in products (and it's in very few). The samples help with selection, too. This is my favorite spice shop in Des Moines!
Varieties of spice, seasonings, oils, and vinegars is hard to beat. The ability to sample the items is very handy. Staff is helpful when needed. Saigon cinnamon found here is in a different league than what's in the grocery store.

Love this place! Amazingly yummy selection of Olive oils (roasted garlic is a top choice) and Balsalmic vinegars (pomegranate is my favorite!)...along with all kinds of herbs and spices and seasoning blends. Try the Ammazza Suocera!!

The smell when you walk into this store is unreal. The prices are so reasonable, and there are small bags of the spices for a discount so you can refill your glass jars. There are boxes to stock your kitchen, as gifts, or if you just run out of your spice drawer and want to replace it with high quality deliciousness. There's a whole selection of oils and vinegars that you can taste, and buy full or sample bottles of. I can't get over how good of a deal this place is. I recommend it to everybody.

I love this little place! It's small, but the aromas and the many selections really pack a punch! I enjoyed spending every penny because I am still enjoying what I bought! I've done side-by-side comparisons with their products and those of their competition and the results were incredible. For each product I've purchased, in blind taste tests, my friends chose AllSpice's offerings over the competition, citing a fresh, nuanced quality and greater intensity of flavor and color. In direct contrast to the competitions Sichuan Peppercorns, AllSpice's had a more delicate aroma, were beautifully colored, and gave a more powerful performance per gram. Excellent oils! We use the butter olive oil for grilled corn and and type of cooked eggs. Harissa olive oil is awesome. Their prices and awesome spices make the trip to East Village worthwhile. Actually going today!

I ordered the Veg Out set as a gift and it was a hit! Excellent customer service! I accidentally put in the wrong city for the address and received a call confirming the proper address. I've since been able to taste the spices and they're wonderful! Will be ordering more and recommending to friends!
This is such a wonderful store for foodies (and those of us who cook because we have to!) All of the employees are friendly and know their spices! They have lots of yummy oils and vinegars to sample and it seems like there is always something new in the store. I actually enjoy receiving their store e-newsletter, it is written with humor and is full of good information. Next time you're in the East Village, be sure to stop in!

This is my must stop place whenever I'm flying in or out of Des Moines for work. They have every spice, herb, seasoning blend, etc. you could ever need and the prices are very reasonable. They also have an amazing selection of vinegar and oil, which is pretty dangerous because I buy the stuff and then never know what to do with it all. Sampling is encouraged, and the staff here is always super friendly. They even put extra packaging around my purchases so nothing gets broken in my luggage.

AllSpice is my go-to spice store in DSM. I love their selections of dried herbs, dried peppers, spice rubs, seasonings, smoked salts and peppers, and even all the oils and vinegars to sample. I love to cook, and this store makes my cooking better.
I love the huge variety of spices offered here - and the affordable prices. They also offer several gift pack options and mixed spices. I also love all of the vinegars and oils - I bought a delicious strawberry infused vinegar.

This is the BEST place to buy spices in the Des Moines area, and that is saying something! Their spices are fresh, prices are extremely reasonable, the selection is amazing and the service is wonderful. I buy most of my baking and cooking spices here now and I also purchase spices and flavored oils & vinegar to give as gifts to family & friends who love to cook & who live elsewhere. It is also a LGBTQ welcoming store. They welcome everyone.

High quality spices & blends, processed in-house. All for a fair price, often beating grocery store prices, despite being a much fresher product.

This store is a real GEM! Products are really well displayed, and there are little sample jars of each spice to smell. The olive and balsamic area in the back is pretty great too. A really extensive selection PLUS I love that they also sell WECK jars. Also a bonus that they are open 7 days a week. Overall a strong A+
Has anyone else had the feeling that one of the managers there is slightly racist? I believe it was the manager. The person who helped me was so kind and helpful but the other employee was rude and standoffish. I truly felt they were eyeing my transaction. Whether it s due to the way I look or just their overall lack of customer service it made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I won t be back.
First time shopper. I will highly recommend them to anyone. Very nice place.
