Awesome experience taking the tour. Great beer and our tour guide Leah could not have been better. Definitely will be recommending to anyone visiting the area.

This place is wonderful. Came to Portland for my bachelor weekend specifically to come to this place ans was not let down. Try their annual 8 great plates if you can, we had a blast!
I love this place. It is a stop on our fall road trip every year!!!
Excellent tour and tasting! This brewery does it right. The tour and tasting together take about an hour. The tour is very informative and you get to see a lot of the machines including the bottling area which was particularly interesting. At the end the serve big tasting pours of four beers. I believe you can also go by anytime during business hours to do a free tasting if you don't have time for the full tour.
My experience was great. Being a New Englander and lover of craft beer it seems fair to say I have enjoyed many different Allagash brews. Some of my beer connections drink "White" like it is the best on earth...which is nice to know and share since closely 75% of their production is "White", which I find interesting and shocking considering the other gems they produce. I particularly do not enjoy Witbeirs so I care not to indulge. However, my trip to Allagash was awesome. I had some old friends from craft beer deprived Texans from San Antonio, head this way for a New England tour...yes, my liver still gives me the middle finger for this adventure but alas, what is a fella supposed to do when his friends travels thousands of miles for an experience.
Given that, I took my trusty gnome, David with us (it is a Travelocity gnome). He was featured in Allagash's Instagram that day and surfed the bottling line. My brother and I are homebrewers along with being beer enthusiasts, the facility and operation is nothing less than a modern marvel. Seriously, the entire place is fantastic. Everything from the equipment, floor design, efficiency and renewability is excellent.
The tour itself, for us looking for an entertaining experience was quite the same. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable (she worked at previous breweries) and was eloquent in her description and well poised for geeky questions.
What I found to be more beneficial than others....is the level or rather the idea of bringing artisinal/worldly beer to the area that promotes education of diversity. It is no secret that many of the brews grew from a Belgian experience translated to an American brewing artist.
So go check it out. Pay attention to the floor design, fermenting procedures (their Barrel aging program is wonderful) and the top notch staff. They even have an outdoor patio to share some additional memories.
Great beers and great place for enjoying their great beers!
I freaking love Allagash. They make some of the best Belgian beer state side. They do flights, and the beer selection is crazy good. There is no limit to what you can get for flights.
Really nice place. Loved going there and hanging out. Was a bit crowded, sat inside but the outside area looked nice too. Had food. Staff was really friendly and accommodating.
Excellent tour! Love the beer and passion everyone shows here.
Super nice staff, very interesting tour, got to taste 4 beers as part of the tour.
Great beer, cozy space. The tour is free and excellent.
Wow excellent. Flew in from Austin Texas and was impressed. Wish they had some food but I know that s a different business. Love it love it love it!!! Cheers from ATX.
Great tour. Learned a lot about the brewing process and Maine. Extremely friendly staff. A must do if you are in Portland. They offer free shipping on merchandise, perfect for your souvenirs. Best part the tour was free, just call and make a reservation.
Surprise, surprise, Rob rates another brewery 5 stars. Allagash is a great brewery, I love their tripel, and they make the best white that I've had. I wish they should beer for consumption at the brewery, but the free tasting and tour is awesome. Though you might need to schedule your tour days in advance.
We had so much fun visiting the brewery. We did the free tour and our guide was very knowledgeable about the company and the brewing process. We got to see all kinds of cool stuff and the tour came with 4 samples. The tasting room had a lot to pick from and a gift shop with interesting brand merchandise- stuff you'd actually want to buy, not cheesy. There was also a food truck, corn hole, and lots of seating. I'm not a huge beer person (went for my husband) but they have beers that are very approachable as well as some more interesting small batch brews.
I ll try and be as considerate as possible here, truly. Personally (just me) I found all the beers to be safe. Super watery and uninspiring. People-pleasers, you could say. The patio area is bizarre because they have blocked off both entrances with chairs and tables. I understand that you want to maximize space and therefore customers, but people need to be able to get under that tarp. Just because no one has said anything thus far (until now), doesn t mean that it s not an issue. Lastly, I ve found (in Maine in particular) that this place, among others, have no sense of the phrase little taste , nor the symbolism of two fingers pressed together to elaborate/emphasize the idea of small. I asked the guy behind the counter for two small tastes of a couple beers (and I squeezed my fingers together, to really get the point across). I did NOT want a flight or two 3oz glasses. I say that because he poured two of them and asked me to cough up my money. I wanted a taste. A splash. I drop. It s as if he didn t understand the English language. That, or this place is out to get every penny. Who knows. Then he gave a me a little attitude because I didn t pay the $6 or whatever. It was his fault for not listening to what I was saying.... I just want to say that I m from Boulder, CO. I know beer. I really know beer...Being from Colorado, beer capital of the US, doesn t even matter. MOST breweries here in the US, if not the world, are happy to pour a half inch of beer into a glass so the customer can see if he/she likes it. Hell, they usually do that for multiple beers. One should not have to pay for a sample, or even a flight, if they don t want to. I will say, however, that a nice woman later on gave me a couple samples, the way it should be. So I m not saying this brewery is bad, but I will certainly say that I think their staff needs to SLOW DOWN and listen to what the customer is asking, and not assume that every person walking through the door wants a flight or full 3oz poor. I ll end this review by saying they don t even have a NE IPA. They re in Maine for god sake, and this is middle of July. Every other brewery around them (literally, like 20 feet away) has beautiful tasty New England style IPA s (very murky and hazy looking). This place didn t. I found everything here to be safe. Mass appeal. Without character or charm. Overall, I was unhappy with my experience but I wish this place luck and I hope they will read this and make some minor changes. If they do, I think it could be top dog on this street!
Allagash White was the first beer I'd tried of theirs at some random taproom in Boston, and I was immediately hooked! I knew I had to make it up to Maine eventually to visit.
When I got to the brewery (FINALLY) I was not disappointed. At all. I tried a bunch of different half pours (a lot of the smaller barrel ones) and WOW! I wish I lived in Maine so I could get their brews with more ease...
Ended up spending over $100 on small barrel and rarer brews that I couldn't get near me. Wish they were a little cheaper, but worth the cost!
Great beer, great service. I do wish they had 8oz cans tho
Oh my goodness. Words are simply not enough. Good people, good company, qnd so aware of the print they are leaving on the world. They simply took such good care of us and Leah was 100% the best we could have ever asked for. She was so kind, personable, and knowledgeable. Thank you so so much. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more anywhere else <3
I've been to other brewery tours but this was the best one. Everyone who worked there seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. They were all friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Plus the beer is amazing which never hurts.
Awesome brewery. Second visit, did not do the tour, but they offer reasonably priced tastings, flight samplers, half pours, full pours. Had entertainment, Bite of Maine food truck, merchandise. Other breweries on the street, but only made it to Alligash twice... Great place, friendly atmosphere, great time 2x.
Celia was incredibly friendly and helpful!!! She was awesome. Amazing Beer too! Thanks!
We have visited Allagash every summer since 2012, and every experience is better than the last. Any time we come we do the FREE brewery tour, and every time we learn something new about the history and brewing process of this incredible brewery. The tour is really fun and informative, delicious (you get to taste 4 different Allagash beers), and FREE. Just make sure to sign up for a tour a few days ahead of time - they tend to fill up quickly. If you'd rather not take an hour to tour, you can get reasonably priced tastings of a variety of brewery-exclusive beers in their tasting room. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Allagash quickly became a favorite for us because of the top quality of beer, friendly staff, and creativity in their ever-changing small batch recipes. We will continue to be regular customers and visitors of Allagash for as long as we can!! Highly recommend coming to visit the brewery, since they always have so many more cool choices than you can find in stores/restaurants.
Incredible beer and very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Prices are extremely reasonable too! I would highly recommend
Amazing beer, friendly staff, awesome ambiance with outdoor section, beers are very affordable as well
Came in from out of town and planned my entire day around coming here. Arrived less than 1/2 hour after opening, and was told we needed to book a tour in advance.
It doesn't mention this anywhere on their profile pages (for example this google places page). I was told I'd have to choose between sampling or being on the waiting list.
Why couldn't I sample while being on the waiting list?
Fun time doing a craft brew pub crawl in Freeport. Allagash is definitely my favorite by taste and set up. The bar offers you old wooden handheld games and brain busters while you sip beer at the all wood log cabin style bar.
Beautiful tasting room, a must stop on your brewery tour!
I went to the free tour at Allagash brewery. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately the quality of the head set was poor and I had to go through about 3 or 4 before I found one that even worked, and then for most of ht tour I heard mostly static which was a little frustrating. I did enjoy the tour and the last leg didn't require the headsets so it was an overall great experience. And of course you get a flight and they were all very delicious.
If I could give it 10 stars...
We were lucky enough to get a private tour (we own a bar/restaurant) and Emily was our tour guide. Let me tell you, if she's available, Emily is who you want! Her passion, knowledge, and obvious love for her product and company made this a truly memorable experience. Emily=FUN!! Thanks so much!!
Great tour of a wonderful little brewery. Informative and fun. Free tour and samples. Plan to uber there and back so you can partake of wares after the tour.
Delicious brew, awesome people, and a great tasting room.
Allagash Curieux, the Bourbon aged Tripel style has notes of vanilla and coconut and packs about 11% ABV. This one is for keeps!

Oak Barrel aged since 09.18.2013
It was great! They walked us through the facility, showed us the process of how the beer is brewed, shared the history of its founding, and of course provided tasty samples
So delicious, friendly, and informative. Tasty beer on the tour. I m a loyal fan moving forward
My son from L.A, brought me there yesterday 6/5 , for my 60th birthday, We took the tour, the guide was totally informative, didn't skip a beat, left with my fav beer ALLAGASH White and of course a baseball tee,!! BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!!
Beautiful property, tasty beers, fun & free tour by one of the many friendly staff members. This was our first stop in the area upon arriving in Portland, and it was also one of our favorites. The tour itself was an hour, and highlighted how beer was made as well as the history of Allagash. The prices were fair for their beers too. I would suggest scheduling your tour ahead of time. The one last star is withheld because the place closed at 6pm, which seemed early.
I googled breweries near Portland me and was thrilled to see the description Best food and Drink in Portland for Allegash. We love the beer but would disagree that there is great food . I wouldn t call the crepes food truck best food - don t expect food when visiting
-
Thanks for your reply. While some food trucks are better than others, you do not provide consistent best food . I d be happy to reconsider my rating of the brewery if the food was more accurately described. I would suggest limited menu .
Great atmosphere, food truck was phenomenal, and the beers had a wide range for different palates.
The staff and the alcohol were really nice. Unfortunately, it's a long drive over there from here in Virginia.
Dan gave us an awesome tour. Best brewery tour we have ever taken!
Great beer. I came here and tried a few different 5oz pours - each beer was great, and interesting in its own way. The taproom itself was warm and welcoming. The tour sounded interesting. If I'm ever in Portland again I will definitely return.
One of the finest collections of beer.. friendly environment.. the tasting tour was full when we arrived but even then the staffs allowed for free tasting.. very happy with the service
Great tasting tour of the brewery! Husband and I went on our visit to Portland. We've had Allagash before, but it's even better straight from the source. The tour guide was knowledgeable and funny, and we got to sample some of their small batch brews while we were there. If you want to do a tour, book early - they fill up fast, for good reason.
Nothing but super positive things about this place!!!
BEER - AWESOME
FACILITIES - AWESOME
STAFF - AWESOME
JUST WISHED I LIVED CLOSER FOR INCOULD VISIT MORE OFTEN!!!!!
Stopped by Allagash on a brewery tour of New England and I had my doubts with it being a sort of well known Brewery in the North East area but I was definitely blown away with everything. Free tasters as you walk in, awesome merchandise, friendly staff that loved talking about their beer, and of course delicious beer, every freaken one of them. Thanks Allagash, can't wait to come back!
This is my favorite brewery! We have a great time every time we make it up there. I recommend Allagash to everyone!
Visited the tasting room and it was quite nice! A nice spot to sample some of their beers. They also have a cool selection of merchandise. Next time I go will definitely have to do a (free) brewery tour, but we just walked in and they were all booked for the day.
In an area that's filled with craft breweries, Allagash is one of the best. The brewery itself is really neat with a tour that's absolutely worth going on. It's equally informative and delicious.
Free flight on the free tour! Great beer also, we'll be back
The tastings are free and the bartenders are kind. A go to place for Belgian style beers.
Great tour , friendly staff . If you are in the portland area its a must. Around 20 min car ride from downtown Portland
Tour has the history of the brewery and doesn't stray away from other brewery tour format. But the flight of beer is free!
Went once last year. Loved it. Loved the Lobster BLTs at Bite into Maine food truck. Came back again this year. Barrel and Bean is one of the most complex beers we have had. Brought a four pack home to Jersey. Wish I brought a case. Two Lights and Sixteen Counties are also excellent. Two Lights was as our gateway to Brut IPAs.
One of the best brewery tours I ve ever been on! Very informative for a beer nerd like me!
Awesome space, outdoor patio is a fantastic way to take in a few beers! PRO TIP: if you want a tour on the weekend, get here early.
Free beer tasting! Not much more that needs to be said, but the place is amazing, the employees are very nice, and they have tons of amazing merch for sale. Definitely stop by if you're in Portland.
Best brewery I've ever been to. Clean, great service/nice people. Excellent beer! Recommend to all beer lovers.
Great beer in a laid-back atmosphere. They also don't charge an arm and a leg to sample. The live music was the perfect genre for the environment. If you like good beer, hit it up.
Wonderful seating, food truck food, and great beer.
Their tasting room was not open sadly. However, their beer is so good that it did not matter to me. We ended up getting cans to drink on the go and a four pack. Their employees were super friendly and helpful. She was able to give us recommendations on where to go, as well as a distillery that made whiskey from their beers. You are able to buy the beer and enjoy at the brewery across the street as well.
Good service, good Belgium style beer and good seating options. Several other brewery s in the area and across the street. Good location to make a day of tasting several different brewers beer.
Some of the best style belgian beer in the country.
Great service outside, loved the different beer selection as you wander through the space.
The most informative, yet interesting and fun brewery tour I've ever been on. Allagash still has fun, makes amazing beer and has an incredible group of brewers and workers. It is clear that they love what they do. Do yourself a favor a give them a visit!
Clean, need more toilets, good products, good atmosphere, loud
