Certificate III in Horticulture – My Experience

Where do I even start? This course has been a complete soul-drain. From day one, it feels like it’s designed to turn you into a robotic box-ticker rather than an actual horticulturist. The content is rigid, repetitive, and focused almost entirely on conformity, chemical use, and compliance. There’s no room for creativity, critical thinking, or applying real horticultural knowledge if you actually know anything about the subject already.

The roleplay assessments are ridiculous. Each one takes hours of preparation, filming, and planning, and you cannot move forward until each one is submitted. It’s totally impractical and feels like a waste of time. By the time you finish one, there’s another waiting, and the process just drags on endlessly.

The course content itself is sloppy. There are errors and inconsistencies everywhere — names in scenarios change mid-task, templates clearly copy-pasted without attention, and the material is so repetitive it borders on brainwashing. It really feels like the course was designed to satisfy a system, not to actually teach horticulture.

If you’re looking for a course that actually teaches horticulture in a meaningful way, stay far away. This course is exhausting, soul-crushing, and will leave you frustrated without giving anything of value beyond ticking boxes.
