I was a resident there for a year and found the nursing staff helpful; most of the time. The administrator and director of nursing, Meghan, are the worst people around. They follow you around looking for trouble. It s their way only. Residents have to obey or they write you up. Horrible place, would not recommend it to anyone.

This is the worst nursing home in bellingham. I worked there for a short time and there was a staff lady that physically abused a dementia patient. I told penny the head nurse and she just said I was being judgmental. There was the right way to care for patients and their way when evaluations were not being done. Years later my dad was there after a surgery and our friends from church went to visit him and he had to wait 2 hrs before being taken to the bathroom.i confronted penny of all people still there, again and she claimed it was their fault because they couldnt get people to stay working there so they were short staffed. I told her she needed to make it so people wanted to stay working there and there was just no excuse whatsoever. She just stood there smug and kept looking off into the distance with no care about anything whatsoever

I am a caregiver and have a client that due to health issues has been in and out of Alderwood over the last 2 years and recently has become a full time resident. I spend many hours at Alderwood and I thoroughly enjoy it. The office staff are friendly, helpful and highly competent. The nursing staff are thorough, caring and always doing their best. The maintenance, facility and kitchen staff are all very good, as well, and are willing to help residents and their co workers in many ways. The Social Services office is very caring and professional. The activities are well thought out and executed; the residents really enjoy both the staff and the activities. Over the last few months, I have come to see that everyone here is part of a big family, with each person having their good days and bad days and leaning on each other when needed as well as lifting each other up- just like any family.
I would highly recommend this wonderful Home to any of my friends or family that needed temporary rehab care or a new place to call home.

Not an employee, have gone there a few times for work. The staff is abysmal, the place smells. They have been rude to me and my coworkers. I honestly feel for the residents here. The nurses have been incredibly rude to residents. Its been awful every time I walk in there. The front counter lady is never around and always on her cell phone not paying attention. If I were looking for a nursing home this would be my absolute last choice.

I had a friend at alderwood for a short term rehab stay following a car accident. The therapists worked with her and were able to get her fully independent and back home. The nursing staff is compassionate and the management staff is very helpful. They went above and beyond for my friend!

Regularly neglects residents. My client's husband passed from negligence on their watch. Meghan (the nursing director) regularly harasses and verbally abused my client.
They didn't even tell her where her husband's body was taken after he passed. She found out from the cremation service.
Do not let your loved ones stay here.

Alderwood Park is an excellent nursing & rehabilitation facility,
their mission is to teach you to be as independent as possible
and to prepare you to return home.
This is not a pampered vacation resort. I have been at this facility for over a month. The staff are great people, and when you put forth effort you receive ten times as much back.

I've been a resident for 7 years and have always been treated kindly by the staff. The rooms are clean and we receive help when we need it. We have many activities such as games, special events for the holidays and we go out to the park and the movies.

Alderwood is a great place to work. I have been here for 3 years now as a employee. The staff I work with truly enjoy their job. I have been the Director for 3 years now. My residents tell me Thank you daily for making their day fun. We just took 14 residents to the Lynden fair and they had a great time. My staff Kristi and I will make your loved one feel right at home with all kinds of programs that teach ,learn, and laugh all at the same time. Ideas that you come up with as a resident that you miss doing then tell me and it will be on my activity calendar. I love what I do as the Director and I love making my Residents happy. After all this is their home and mine. Come visit us here at Alderwood. Activities are crucial to one's life.
Sincerely,
Alderwood Park Health and Rehab

This place smells of urine & poop, I wouldn't send anyone I loved here. My mother came here "only" using a walker and received ZERO rehabilitative care. Three months later she's in a wheelchair (no she didn't fall) and doesn't use a walker anymore. No follow thru on rehabilitation care. She's a diabetic and they continue to give her sweets to her hearts desire. Not a good care facility, please stay away!
